the procedure of root is totally difference from SE X10 , and i read and read i still cant understand the process doh.gif
let say , X10 , i use super one click to root. it is easy for me. but why does S2 need the what called kernel ?

2)after X10 rooted , i can boot to xrecovery and install custom roms.but how is the rom process for S2 ? do i need to have different kernel to have different roms ?

first , can u gimme the most basic tool. ROOT. i know i should download ODIN then after that i dont know which one should i download dy.

2.should i flash roms or play with the phone first ? compare to X10 , S2 have soooooooooo many of roms rclxub.gif

Please refer Page 1 Post#5 : ALL the BASICS are there. TUTORIAL : My Guide on How to ROOT using Supercurio kernel ?
I have listed the PC software requirements and all the steps. Just follow it exactly. The tutorial while written to flash Supercurio kernel is SAME as flashing other roms. I suggest you start to learn to flash using Litening 5.0. So just replace all references to Supercurio and replace it with Litening specifics

Flashing Litening will give you : AUTO root, install Clockworkmod recovery and Litening rom itself

After you have successfully flash LItening, boot into recovery mode with phone off : Vol up+home=power button simultaneously
Some roms required you to flash only thro recovery, while some require you to use Odin

Please read page 1 FAQ post #3 where the whole procedure is written

Okay uncle ben ! i'll try to understand it again rclxub.gif
btw , S2 rooting will change the rom also ? is there any Clean Root that using the same roms first ? like X10 root , i root first then i can choose roms later.

Thanks uncle ben for ur time biggrin.gif

If you just want to root only , than either use Superoneclick or flash supercurio kernel. Flashing Supercurio is easier
Your rom will remain intact. Rooting will NOT delete any data

sorry uncle ben for my noobness. mind gimme a simple explain where superoneclick and flash the kernel what is the difference ?
thx biggrin.gif

Let me use a car as an example
Rooting is the KEY to access your car so that you can open your bonnet to tinker/tweak the engine
KERNEL is the ignition starter - the interface between you and the car engine
FIrmware/Rom is your car engine

In order to root, you need a UNSECURED kernel . All process whether is through SOC or using rom flashing has to installed a unsecured kernel first before the phone can be rooted. SOC is just a software to root the kernel. Flashing the kernel eg using Supercurio do it in one step - install unsecure kernel and root same time. That's why I said use Supercurio is easiest way

As the phone kernel afterv root is in unsecure mode, when you boot the phone you will see a YELLOW triangle,. This si Samsung internal process to displaty kernel has been tampered with and is in a unsecured state. To fget rid of this yellow traingle, flash back stock kernel or with phone off, plugin the JIG. ALL these stuffs I have listed in Page 1

I also started knowing ZERO about these stuffs. What I did is just research, google and read XDA ( like reading bible). And to help fellow users, I started this thread. And I am still learning new stuffs every day from XDA and from other users in this forum. Stuffs I think useful I will posts it up in the first 7 posts

Thanks for your explanation thumbup.gif
i have understand alots.
i have found out that kernel is what called Baseband in SE phone.
so is there any difference that wat kernel i use , like baseband call in se will affect the frequency in our country.
and do we able to flash kernel version to another ?
sorry too much comparision with SE cause last time im using X10 laugh.gif

Thanks again unclen ben biggrin.gif
