Check the jack configuration, you need one that has the same config on the plug as the sony headset.

Yeah, I just came across the official viber thread. Thanks. I tried the sonic gear earpump headset and it solves the problem. But then I am using the phones built-in mic. As for the original headset, I tried using it to call dirently and it works just fine. Even for line also the volume is loud and clear. But for viber its very soft even on maximum in-call volume.

Apparently I think there is a bug while using Viber on Xperia Arc. I can hear the opposite side loud and clear but they can barely hear my when I am on handsfree. The handsfree works just fine for direct calls. Anyone encounter this? Xperia Arc users?

@michael_1991 -
Thanks for the report.

Viber does support most Bluetooth/headset devices in general. However, some are not supported, due to the restrictions within the phone itself (sometimes certain iPhone/Android features or external devices do not function smoothly with 3rd-party applications). We have fixed Viber in our lastest versions so MOST of the BT/headset devices can work, but unfortunately some others are just not fully compatible.

In order for us to take a look at this issue and hopefully fix it in the future, I kindly ask to report it to our support team here: http://bit.ly/ukGVJ0

Viber does not support ICS yet, but we're currently at the final stages of development, and if all goes as planned, the new compatible version will be released within the next 2 weeks smile.gif

dear viber...

honestly, the apps have got potential but sadly, i find the development taking a bit too long and it would seem the focus is not what i'm looking forward to... what i mean is... i'm looking for an apps that can:
* cover as many user base as possible (meaning more friends can be on it)
* allow different type of communication (voice, text, video calls, video sharing, etc)
* bring me closer to my contacts -- communication option such as group chat

as it is... there are many other options out there that can already meet the above requirements... and sadly... and i've noticed my use of viber over the past 2-3 weeks have been none. yea, i've started using other apps while waiting for the features to be developed and made available... and the rate my friends are using viber... its probably just going to collect dust or get uninstalled eventually.

no offence... just sharing what i'm going thru...

Thanks for sharing.

Well,
You have to remember that there are millions of Viber users out there, all of whom are requesting features that to them seem critical. We're doing our best to live up to everyone's expectations, and you can rest assured that more new, cool features are coming soon.

We can't guarantee, however, when exactly, and that we'll beat ALL other applications out there in all of the aspects concerned. Simply because we have limited resources.. sad.gif

We have responded to your S2 headset problem in the other forum where you responded smile.gif

About the other issues:
1. We actually haven't encountered this report from other users, at least not frequently. Try isolating the problem but testing it right after a reboot of the phone, with no other apps running. Does it still occur?
2.The photo delivery issues are known to us, but the specific scenario you described could be helpful to our support team in order to replicate the problem and hopefully fix it. Please report it here: http://bit.ly/ukGVJ0
3.
A. this feature is under development smile.gif
B. Group chat is currently under development. Video calling is certainly on our list, but unfortunately we still don't know when exactly it will be ready.
C. We are considering to add an option to send just any file, but this also requires securing those files (so people won't use Viber to send malicious things), and so it could take more time than usually expected. Once we have news on that, I'll keep you posted.
D. Thanks for the suggestion. We'll take it into account smile.gif

Thanks for all your reports and suggestions. We're really happy to see users like you, who are involved and contributing. This is how you can make a difference and help us shape Viber according to user demand smile.gif

Customized ringtones is on our development list, but at this stage we prefer focusing our attention and resources on more critical matters, like adapting Viber to new platforms (Blackberry, Symbian...), new Android version that's coming very soon (ICS), etc.

Customizing ringtones will be an option in the future.
