i think kenny want to sell those fringe player. they need to play to attract interest from other club.

+ve in the first half is Shelvey. I can definitely see the young Gerrard in him. Full of energy, chasing opponent, over enthusiastic tackle, good technique. The sign is there. Just keep playing him King Kenny...

Gerrard is still out...there are news that he might even miss the first couple weeks of EPL...

based on a few friendlies, carroll doesnt look like he wants to play for liverpool

Galatasaray is a much stronger team compared to Hull. Besides, we've been using 2nd string players for most of the pre season especially for last night game. It's not easy to judge a team without Gerrard, Johnson, Carra, Suarez, Lucas, Downing, Adam, Henderson, Skrtel, Agger and Maxi against a well prepared injury free Galatasaray at their own back yard, I think it was a fair result. A draw would be good with this young team, a win would have been excellent.

But it's a good run out mainly for the youngster.

are kenny still experimenting? adam,downing,henderson not play right?

I think KK trying to give as much match time to all players as much as possible. Carroll and Cole got full 90 mins last night. He did mentioned he will bring Downing, Adam and Henderson to Norway for our next friendly. Even Ngog also didn't play in last nights game. So it will be a very different (and much stronger) team against Valerenga in our next friendly. Hopefully the new trio will get full 90 mins in that game.

Still waiting for official Gerrard news. Only rumors regarding his 'new' injury so far.

Saw the streaming live match.

To be fair, we look out of sorts. And Carroll is still waiting to delivery service from DHL/Fedex.

In short, it was disappointing as much as any game. Pre-seasons or not, we should not be this leaky in defence. Galatasaray is a good team but like Hull, they should not be putting 3 pass us.

Anyway, onwards to the next game.

Cheer up bro.. If you did watch the live streaming, you would have notice that how understrength the team was at Istanbul last night..
On positive note, Aqulani had some good touches and passes in the 2nd half. He almost scored also..

Under strength or not, it was still really leaky bro. and we have acknowledged more than once that the depth in the squad is far from ideal.

but yes, Aquaman was looking a nice fit in midfield only praying his deal with Fior does not fall through.

If given his performance so far, he will be a fit with suarez in terms of tricky football.

Although it depends whether he still wants to fit in

The year we got to the CL final 06/07, we lost to Mainz 5-0; Hyypia, Gerrard, riise, Bellamy, carragher and alonso all played in that match.

Anyway, its clear that his preferences is to play in Italy, that pretty much sums it up

Too much flair in the team, its pretty for the eyes but whether it'll work considering all along Reds is not a flair team but rather a cohesive unit. With Aqua as AM, there'll need at least 2 DM to compensate against competitive team, as he's a luxury player that dont contribute much in defense.

The year we lost to Espanyol we end up 7th
Point is, though its pre-season, some positive performance will boost up confidence. Look how long we need to get going due to crappy pre-season in 09-10 & 10-11 which sapped the morale of the team

And luckily we won't have a friendly with Espanol. Maybe we should organize a friendly with Mainz and let them beat us 5-0 again, no?
