Myself and my bro-in-law were singing Fields Of Anfield Road while on the way to BJ. When we sat down before the game. We sang once..the people around us was wondering "what the heck this two fella's singing". That was the impression on their faces.

I had watched this for more than 50 times this week and couldn't get enough of it.

This is the sort of performance we should put up against the big four and rivals.

"Sloppy goals"?. They weren't sloppy goals! Hull scored some wonderful goals except the 3rd. Downing did impress , he needs time..

The result would definitely not feared by KD, he would turn this result around in the next 2 friendlies and march on towards beginning of the season.

how nice if Carroll can score like Forlan rclxms.gif
infact Forlan and Carroll hav  similiar body shape, lets hope our new midfielders and Downing can supply more chances to him to score

Totenham looking at signing Forlan for free transfer from Athletico. We should look at this opportunity. Forlan can be a backup striker.

12 goals against in four games. Liverpool need to buy better defenders now. Not putting Liverpool defenders in my FF side that is for sure smile.gif.

The fact is Carra, Skrtel, Agger, Kelly, Johnson are not there during the friendlies. They have been on rotation. We have not seen the real potential of the guys coming season. KK need to play them at least in 1 game to ensure the sync between them.

I could see Carra getting huge number of clean sheets this season. Optimistic tho.. brows.gif

Now i really think we need to keep aquaman.I rate him higher than charlie adam and meireles.Much more of a complete midfielder other than gerrard.

QUOTE(daidzz @ Aug 2 2011, 02:41 PM)
After watching the game last night I noted a few things as well - a lot of which have been mentioned already.
Glen Johnson seemed to overcommit which is very unlike him - he normally waits for the attacker to accelerate away before using his own pace to win the ball. Yesterday he seemed to lunge into tackles and miss the ball completely - might be a bit keen to prove that he's fit.

Carragher - Still the intelligent defender we can always rely on, but his lack of pace is becoming more and more evident. Without a quicker defender to partner with it'll be difficult to deal with strikers who aren't dead slow.

Agger - Played pretty well imo, probably our first choice centre back when he's fit. Only concern might be if he partners with carragher and he starts bombing forward and unleashing shots - if the shot isn't great and we get caught on the counter, carra is going to have to concede a yellow card at least when a through ball is played to a quick striker. Hopefully he'll choose his opportunities to go forward more wisely - but he does seem sharp and proved that by getting two goals from the corners.

Adam - Great to watch in midfield when passing, creating and shooting but seems quite poor when tackling so far. We're lucky to have so many centre midfielders to work with and he's definitely one we're going to use quite a bit.

Henderson - A player who I think is going to be a valuable member of our squad this season - probably can play in any position in midfield and do well. Smart player who works hard and makes intelligent runs. One of the best at playing the ball on his first touch (if you watched him at sunderland last season) and I think for such a young player his vision is pretty good.

Downing - Finally, we have an out and out winger. He's good with both feet and can cross and score with both feet too. Out wide we rarely see our players trying to beat opponents and get a cross in or take on the players to get a shot in - you need good acceleration to do that and players like kuyt don't really have that. This guy, however, does. His touch is good and I feel Carroll will definitely benefit from this new signing.

Aquilani - Brilliant. Pure class. I feel if he's given a full season to show his worth, he definitely will impress. Made an instant impact and I personally feel his vision is incredible. He can shoot extremely well and can slice through defences with just one killer pass. Please keep him.

Carroll - I'm still seriously undecided - I don't want to judge before he gets back into his full stride but at times his touch is so extremely poor and sometimes it's pretty good. Whatever it is, he's definitely a handful for defenders in the air. Hopefully our players will play to his feet as well because he really has a stinger of a left foot.

As a whole I was very impressed with last night's performance - though I feel the goals we gave away were quite soft bar the last one which was just an amazing strike tongue.gif

Can't wait for the game against sunderland - (i reckon many of the players who will start vs sunderland won't feature for more than 30 minutes against valencia)
Excited for the new season

50% of "rival" team players are in England and other international squad. Can all of them return w/o injury?

What a night! I personally felt ..it wasn't a frustrating game. Each and everyone played their part towards driving the team for a winning start. A draw was a fair result. Henderson had good 1st half though..

To me, Jose Enrique, Carra, Flangan, Agger were excellent during the 1st 45. Like one of you commented here earlier, we seem to have lost in the 2nd half, although good start in the first 5mins. If Suarez's and Carroll's goal were converted and allowed (respectively), we wouldn't had much trouble holding the game in the 2nd half for an excellent start of the season. Something just not right there...

Good to see Charlie's 1st assist of the season. Good move from Suarez for the 1st goal. Downing was dangerous down the left flank and nearly scored a cracker. We should have been ahead 3-4 nil with the amount of attempts at goal. I wonder if Richardson should have been red carded?

When i looked at the line up, it looked strong..precisely it was experimental.. Give them time and space, if we can improve the passes and finishing , we will not be far from being at top 4. Kuyt made little impact, Enrique on the left were steady and superb.

Looking forward for the Arsenal game. A win would be great though.
