Saw the streaming live match.

To be fair, we look out of sorts. And Carroll is still waiting to delivery service from DHL/Fedex.

In short, it was disappointing as much as any game. Pre-seasons or not, we should not be this leaky in defence. Galatasaray is a good team but like Hull, they should not be putting 3 pass us.

Anyway, onwards to the next game.

Cheer up bro.. If you did watch the live streaming, you would have notice that how understrength the team was at Istanbul last night..
On positive note, Aqulani had some good touches and passes in the 2nd half. He almost scored also..
*
Under strength or not, it was still really leaky bro. and we have acknowledged more than once that the depth in the squad is far from ideal.

but yes, Aquaman was looking a nice fit in midfield only praying his deal with Fior does not fall through.

If given his performance so far, he will be a fit with suarez in terms of tricky football.

Although it depends whether he still wants to fit in blush.gif

I remember someone told me not to worry and that we were playing a 2nd string team vs Hull. How abt now?

9 goals in 3 games 

I know it's preseason, I know it's about fitness test blah blah blah. But if our defence is like how it is now, I wonder what kinda excuse we gonna give the club time and time again. Lol, is it so hard to see there is a problem with the defence? All I saw is we give too much time and respect to oppositions and we aren't closing them down. In short with a leaky defence you better pray we score a whole lot more to subsidize. Again like what ppl like to say "it's just a preseason match" 

i only see us leaking goals is because we do not close down oppositions fast enough once they approach our box. The funny thing is we actually allow them to run in, have space and get support from the mid.

I've seen from last night the amount of times we could close them down but we chose to wait and hence the Valen's midfielders get in support them and create chances to score.

Our young midfielder Spearing was woeful in the sense he was flinging his arm about like a headless chicken trying to chase down every ball and only succeeding in less than 20% of the time to intercept anything significant.

Our mid still needs time to understand each others presence on the pitch and all the wayward passes and misses will stop once they are accustomed to each others pace.

Only Jonjo and Aqualani took the long range chances when they saw the opening. Aqua turned the game around and it was good to see some real action in the end.

Our back 4 has let in 15 out of 5 games, currently the worst preseason record till date. Cause for concern is definite and unless we play a more urgent harder game closing down oppositions once it passes the midfield line, we as fans are gonna have heartattacks almost weekly... that i guarantee you smile.gif

Seriously guys or fellow "Reds", to be honest I see a lot of blah blah blah, negative vibes coming from 1 game in the start of the season.

Bolton is number 1 with a +4 goal difference, Friggin hell they will win the league yay!! /sarcasm

I see people complain Kenny starting 4-5 new signings during the Sunderland match. Was he experimenting? Was he trying to give the new boys the Anfield feel? Was he daft and out of his frigging mind?!? I think unless you guys have managed a successful football team, wait and see what KD does.. he is definitely no Woy.

Was it a good start? A draw with Sunderland was very much an unlucky turn of events than anything. Red card was for sure, but knowing Phil Dowd (sigh) he again made a booboo. So frig it, football is that way and like KD said, a wee bit of luck eluded us then.

First half of the game was great, awesome even becos it suddenly shows we have potential from all sides in a very long time. Adam, Downing, Henderson and yes.. Suarez were a threat and Andy was doing what he was doing best -> winning headers.

Second half was that little desperation we see last season as well. When we were trying "too hard" to grab a winning goal. We look to force issues and when Suarez was subbed, we looked like we retreated to lobbing long balls at our only strike option.

And please stop blaming Flanagan for the draw. It wasn't his fault. How can it be... he is young, he still needs the experience and definitely he was doing better than most other fails that were supposedly godlike compared to him. If 3 on the left could not stop the cross which they were suppose to (letting the crosser pick out his target = fail on the left side, not the right) how do you expect Flanagan to predict that sensational scissor kick. So I pity the lad for getting the flak. He deserves more than anything a pat on the back despite the draw.

So in summary, we are just 1 game and 1 point. It's not worrying for me yet. Unless LFC decides to take 9 points out of a possible 27, then i will start to worry.

Onwards to Arsenal then. YNWA smile.gif

^ To make it short. Let's have a faith to KD and his boys. smile.gif

It's a long essay btw. tongue.gif

I'm getting on with age, hence I ramble. But what really ticks me off is the doomsday cult back again in almost every media and conceivable forum that is already stating LFC flops. It's pretty annoying in the point that if we needed glory hunters we could have just requested some from a "few" clubs.

And again to the haters, it wasn't Flanagan's mistake. It was the whole line. From left to right. I think he was more than decent for us when we needed someone for the spot. I don't see you guys giving Suarez the stick for missing the penalty as it was definitely a BIGGER deal. So be fair.

lol... very true indeed...
cant blame wenger thou... his team is really in deep shit... just like our crisis under the two owners "tom&jerry"...
thank god we hv got rid of them, also whining torres and get suarez...
*
It doesn't matter what sort of shape the team is/was/still in, it's the way a manager handles himself.

AW may be a brilliant manager but his personal arrogance and paranoia of the powers of ladyluck/referee/FA/world going against him at every turn is bullshiatz.. doh.gif

He should focus more on telling how and what he should do to improve his own situation along with the team and during the xfer window. He shot himself in the foot when he said he did not need any purchase or players during his interview before the start of the season. this is trying to blame his own "boo-boo" on others instead of himself. like i said "typical"

KD will always acknowledge a win, he might take a swipe at the referee occasionally but still it will be a mild swipe or "we were a wee bit unlucky". That is why i have his name stitch on my jersey because i respect/love/cherish the manager that he is. Class pure class.

QUOTE(mercury8400 @ Aug 25 2011, 09:48 AM)
Why are we playing our first teamers like Suarez, Meireles and Adams against Exeter? We need to rest them especially Suarez for the next premier league game. Suarez has not been on a rest for the last  season due to copa america. We need him fresh, lively and sharp......playing him against Exeter is a waste of his energy. I believe the 2nd team like n'gog should be more than adequate to overcome lowly Exeter. Besides i don't think fans would care much about the league cup if we win the EPL........
*
Ok no offence bro, but I am pretty cheese off by fans like yourself to deny any match a "couldn't give a rat's S" attitude. League Cup or not it's like what KD says, you have to respect the other team. Its by being respectful in both winning and losing, in any game no matter how big or small that makes us a respectable club.

KD has already infused his ideology of an already great club into his players and hopefully now he can do it to fans like you. Every match is a risk and every match is a chance to improve the team. Sure Miereles was injured, but he could have also been injured in training too even if he didn't feature, who's to say?

By saying its a waste of his or any players energy playing a "small" team is disrespectful and in so many levels that is where we went wrong last season. It does the team no morale good losing anytime of the season. Remember the loses to "smaller" or "unknown" teams? Remember our first half of the season?

If you are truly a fan then you would want to see Liverpool win every game - BIG or small. You would want to see your players playing together, gelling with every chance they get. And KD did make changes and he made good those changes. Unless he is a manager gone daft, i think this morning's performance is more than enough to build up the confidence of Carroll, Henderson and the rest of the team to shut most critics up. That confidence boost is priceless, more than trying to be over protective of our players like you suggested. To be fair, Suarez was rested when he only came on for the last 20 mins for the Arsenal game.

Have a read and understand what the KD is trying to do and if winning the League becomes a reality, it would be from this man's influence and confidence that he brings to the team and the fans.

that is my take on your post and yes I disagree a whole lot but no, still no offence.

BTW when is Gerrard expected to return?

Yes I do want to see Liverpool win, preferbly every game. and yes in an ideal world we would like to give the due respect that Exeter deserves. But unfortunately (as pointed out by many) Suarez remains one of our MOST important player who would WIN games for us in all competitions. Unfortunately, the EPL has 36 games and including league cup games, etc there is about 40-50 games a season depending on how far Liverpool could go. Do you really expect Suarez (who had no rest during the break bcoz of copa america) to play all 50 games? (even as a sub) Don't you want to keep him as fresh as possible so that he can win IMPORTANT games instead.... Remember Liverpool don't have a huge squad of quality players like Man City.... He's our one of our few talisman to unlock stuborn defences with his lifewire display especially during the middle of the season...You don't want him injured in a game against Exeter (like Meireles) then miss all the more important games, do you? You don't want to overwork suarez and see him tired mid way through the season do you? Bottom line is we have no choice. We can't pull someone like Aguero or Dzeko from the bench....
*
well we do not live in an ideal world, and no we don't have the "so-called" quality of City, to be fair i think you give too little credit to the team that we currently have. Many times over the league has shown that even with billions, you will find it hard to win the titles - remember Real Madrid? Galacticos time.. even now? BEST in the world?! undone by their own riches and ego blush.gif

you answwered your own question that we have no choice. We have no choice but to play Suarez if we want to win games, any games. Is he going to be fit by the end of the season, who can say. Will he hurt himself in training? Will he be looking to join a new club by January? who am i to say and who are you to say what's the outcome of the future.

we need our best players in games, we need to learn to back up injured players if it happens. I am happy that KD is a manager willing to play with his heart and professionalism even if taking risk. that is what makes him a great manager.

He will eventually rest Suarez or any of our equally important players when he sees fit. He may be trying to find an equilibrium as to his squad at the moment. unless you have any other experience being a manager like he has besides PC/Console games, then have faith. If fate would have that any of our players gets injured, it would be as simple as a training accident. Even if a player is 100% fit, he may not 100% win the game for you. biggrin.gif
