HBO's "The Night of" is very good. Very cinematic and smartly written. Exposition kept to a minimum level and letting the moody scenes driving the narratives. My biggest take out from the series how cold the legal procedure can get and a very filmic representation of being behind bars under dubious circumstances.
Preacher couldn't be what the source materials were all about. Granted the controversial stories and themes still too difficult to pull off. Felt they were hold back by budget and dumbing down the storyline to cater for a wider audience. Outcast is at the boring phase of The Walking Dead problem. Rather down advancing the storyline, they focus on fleshing the uninteresting character scenes. It's like enduring 2 to 3 uneventful episodes in order to get one good one. Unreal is fantastic. |

Dead of Summer 6 episodes in, it is slow but entertaining, need to endure a few episodes Van Helsing based on episode 1, mystery character Vanessa Helsing as she adventures in the series to rediscover herself & probably helps remedy the vampires outbreak (it's causes & solutions) American Gothic 2016 7 episodes in, it is guessing who is the murderer(s) series, nothing great or special but manage to be entertaining This post has been edited by 8adele: Aug 6 2016, 08:54 PM |

QUOTE(r2t2 @ Jul 1 2016, 11:01 PM) The Night Of, Episode 1, is nice for me ... basically a whodoneit investigative story (mini-series), might become a court drama ... shot and done in deliberately slow pace but not boring at all. Should be interesting for those who like New York setting. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(6so @ Jul 19 2016, 12:12 PM) HBO's "The Night of" is very good. QUOTE(enaleni @ Aug 31 2016, 02:42 AM) did u guys finish finale season Don't think it's that type of show. Should they have a new season, they would go for a different case like the original British show. The night of? kinda hanging and need to waiting for next season to find out who kill andrea.....and what really happened that night Already foreshadow Andrea's someone is the prime suspect. The arc ends with Naz getting out of prison with John Stone's glorious closing statement in the court. It's the ambiguous ending they are going after. |

Enjoy the detailed journey, not just the destination John Turturro's performance in the closing statement scene ... his best acting so far? (I don't really like his over-the-top style in Transformers movies). And to think the role is supposed to be for the late James Gandolfini. This post has been edited by r2t2: Aug 31 2016, 12:19 PM |

while waiting for the fall new & returning shows, find these
Too Close to Home 2 episodes in, though an ordinary soap drama which is surprisingly watchable but can be quite predictable Our Ex Wife based on episode 1, comedy of a failed marriage gone wrong but wonder will they finally makeup edit : to add on American Horror Story season 6 based on episode 1, it is spooky very much better than all the previous seasons ; can be very watchable Notorious based on episode 1, it is a mindless fun & fast-moving show between an attorney & a television producer on the interplay of criminal law & the media ; the trailers didn't do justice to the series, the pilot is good Aftermath based on episode 1, the post apocalyptic series gives rise of supernatural creatures, the pacing ok not really boring but entertaining This post has been edited by 8adele: Sep 28 2016, 07:32 PM |

Mr.Robot - Season 2 lacks direction and half the time running around like a headless chicken with more plot holes that crippling the overarching storyline. They also overuse the shocking revelation mechanic one too many time and very underwhelming in the payoff.
Stranger Things - A hodgepodge of 80s cinema homage. Influences of Spielberg's Amblin works and coupled with Stephen King earlier writings to make up this pretty entertaining miniseries. A good weekend binge to follow the adventure of goonies meets carrie meets the mist. Halt and Catch Fire - Each episode grew stronger and more confident. Highlight of the week. Brain Dead - Reasonable charming and some time funny alien invasion set in the political landscape of US. Good distraction from the cookie cutter of bland network TV comedy. Narcos - They did a fantastic job of humanizing a monster that shouldn't deserve any sympathy, and yet you wanted to see Pablo able to cheat his ill fated conclusion. A little draggy in the middle and they could have constrained it in one season but felt a little overstaying its welcome. Unsure the Cali Cartel brothers able to match the awesome Wagner Moura performance. Will see how it will go next season. |

QUOTE(6so @ May 23 2016, 05:17 PM) The Preacher 1st episode is pretty awesome...it has that true blood vibe to it and manage to expand characterization beyond what's on the comic books. If you by any chance like the show....you must read the book cause you won't believe what the show gonna be like down the road. Stick for a few more episodes. I really love The Preacher. Can't wait for Season 2. The storyline is really interesting. |
