It's not a phone thing, it's a telco thing. It happened with my Nokias (E71, N97, 5800, N900) and my iPhone 4 - it WIILL happen with the SGS2 unless Celcom decides to CLASS A all their EDGE transmitters.
AND no, Maxis is NOT the answer, not with their current cekik darah billing practices.
Anyway, WHERE IS MY BATTERY CASE SAMSUNG OII. I bought the SGS2 because YOU were supposed to make a battery extender case for it.
