Sorry for the late revert .
Been using it for the last three years .Bought by company and  cost around 7K plus. So far so good but had a heartbreak when the hardisk gone kong .
So far things that was claims  under warranty
1. hardisk
2. Cooling fan

Since the warranty gonna expire soon and the only option to upgrade is either DELL or HP .

Any model to recomended ?

got my x60 during xmas, actually was looking for macbook but i changed my mind last min, anyway i make my ibm look like mac rclxm9.gif

but somehow i realize its bit hot underneath unlike previous model x40/x41, wonder if upgrade my bios will help or not...

anyone facing the same problem? btw my laptop come with 8-cell battery, hmm...

Is the underneath hot? I don't really feel it. What I feel hot is on the lower right of the laptop where the WIFI card is located. Makes me feel uncomfortable at times.

Yup that the area, if put onto the table for hours even my handrest area on top also quite hot. This doesnt happen to previous x-series model, i used to put onto my lap and used it for half a day without feeling uncomfortable.

Just to check, how much u get ur x60? And how long u been using it?

If you use the Power Manager, you can set it to start and stop charging at certain %. Eg, I set mine to start charging at 40% and stop at 70%. It will remember this setting even if you turn off your Thinkpad. Only if you turn off the power or unplug, then plug in again without booting to windows, then it will by default switch to charging to 100%. I only change the settings to charge to 100% when I need to bring it out.
y u set it to stop charging at 70%?

i got mine setting exactly the same with yours... but still wondering...

Lithium Ion battery will degrade in capacity if:

- Frequently charged from 0%

- Frequently charged from 95% to 100%

So only fully charge the battery whenever there is a need to bring it out.

i google the info bout the Li-Ion battery. They said it is the best to keep the battery charge at 40% to prolong the lifespan.

Setting the default at 70%, so that in the case where I cannot afford the time for it to charge up to 100%, I will still have a reasonable battery life. If you want, you can try setting it to 40-50%, shd not be a problem also.

Wow, that means i need to take out the battery again... Although i do not use my laptop that often unless at the WiFi spot or in the office, the battery remains connected to the base... Of course, when there is a power-cut and the battery is still connected, at least there is no worry of losing the data!

Bring up the Control Panel, then click on System and bring up the "Hardware" tab and click on Device Manager. After you have done that, click on View>"Show Hidden Devices" and expand "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" by clicking on the little plus sign next to it. Scroll down to where you find "Beep" and disable that device driver. Then click OK/Apply to save changes and test it out. You shouldn't have the beep when you hit three keys anymore afterwards.

HAha, yeah! the beep scares me a few times in the middle of the night. Glad there's an option to turn it off. It's really annoying when typing fast.
