Oh ok, so how do you find your lappie so far, mate? For me, i'm happy with the R50e that i am using now, but only problem is that the sound system is mono and at times, not clear enough (thats y i have a speaker attached to the PC)...

Cool, that really is good value for money...

Actually despite the minor flaws, i went for the ThinkPad mainly because of friends and shop recommendations and not really for the price (which, at 3.8k, is a good bargain!)...

Hmmm, since its a Core Duo, i think thrust's lappie should be above 4k... Correct, buddy?

Is the R50e actually more suited for home or business use? Just curious...

Business users need good portability to travel with it around, long term reliability, and comofortablity in doing presentation and applications like excel.

Thats true... And at least the ThinkPad is not so heavy until it causes backache! The weight is just right to carry around.. But of course if you are loading that thing for hours on end, then it will break your shoulders lah! laugh.gif

And yups, its excellent for word-processing, PowerPoint, Excel, even running not-too-high performance games such as Championship Manager 2006 as well as playing MP3 for hours on end!

By the way, while agreeing that IBM lappies are good, I've to say they are ugly too sleep.gif
*
Hehehehe laugh.gif , unfortunately that is so true... You'd think that for such a reliable and sturdy lappie, the guys at IBM/Lenovo should also design it better... Amongst all lappies, the ThinkPad is the one that most resembles a black box! tongue.gif

the look is not a issue for me.. jz hope the future thinkpad have better graphic card and clearer lcd( clear view technology) ... should improve at the weight issue also....
*
And not forgetting the two Windows buttons... The R50e does not have both, so it can get quite ma-fan to always click on the Start instead of being able to activate it with the push of a button... Furthermore, how come some IBM lappies have only got one speaker?

True true... Even the R50e has this problem... U have to deactivate the wireless via Windows instead of just switching it on and off...

Hehehe, thats a problem many ThinkPad users face... Mine also takes a few minutes to boot-up and also another few minutes for shutdown... I think much of the resources is taken up by Access IBM in addition to the standard Windows applications...

Icic, any URL that can be provided, btw? Seems to be interesting, this nifty piece of application...

If it can at least reduce the waiting time during bootup and shutdown of IBM ThinkPads, then the app should be worth it...

Hmmm, just like what thrust said, give IBM a call and tell them of your problem... Those guys should be able to assist you...
