Just now I made a Windows XP Boot Skin dedicated for Thinkpad Club....

First:
Download this BootSkin tool & Install it : Click Me to Download

Second:
Download this self-made Thinkpad Boot Skin :
Click Me to Download

Third:
Unzip the Thinkpad Boot Skin into the below directory:
C:\Program Files\Stardock\WinCustomize\BootSkin\skins\

Forth:
Execute the tool: Start>All Programs>WinCustomize>BootSkin,
Click on the Thinkpad image, preview, then apply

Hope you all enjoy..... TQ

Hi guys,

Need to upgrade a Celeron laptop to R60 (Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66mhz). I'm from Ipoh so I was wondering if anyone around here bought a ThinkPad. If yea, where did you buy it from?

I'd like to get one in Ipoh preferably.

You need to have Intel Matrix Storage Driver installed on your winxp first before changing to AHCI mode. I don't have any problem with the AHCI even upgrade BIOS version from 1.04-1.05-1.06.

BTW, i heard some people tested the compatible mode is even faster than AHCI mode, but i never compare it betweens these two modes, probably you can run a test first and let us know the result.
*
I have changed mine BIOS SATA setting from AHCI to COMPATABILITY mode, under the advise from the IBM engineer. He told me that when I need to do the rescue and recovery, I might face problem under AHCI model. Normal using is ok.

Wonder what is your say?

yeah, it's better to take it out as other laptops if u wan to maximize ur battery lifespan smile.gif even the software (power management) will stop it from charging when it's full, but thts only apply in windows.. if u are shutting down or restart, the software will stop function and ur battery will continue charging

But still have another question, my friend said if i take out the battery, then for a while, the battery can throw into dusbin. coz she had the experience before she take out the battery then after a while she put it back the battery cannot be used, but her laptop is not Thinkpad, other brand.

X60 is available in C2D processor, check this model number 1706B43

http://www-8.ibm.com/lenovoinfo/my/noteboo...nkpad/x-series/

it comes with C2D T5600 processor 1.83Ghz, 512mb DDR2 667 Mhz ram and external dvd multi burner which is better than previous core duo model 17024ea which only comes with combo drive. (some countries didnt come with the external optical drive)

normal SRP is at RM7688 but u can get better price now. you can ask me if you would like to purchase one.

the latest T43 that available and still in stock is only T43 with Pentium 2.0GHz processor and running 14" SXGA+ screen which operates on 1400x1050 resolution and it also cames with ATI X300 graphics and dvd burner, bluetooth and the model number is 2668CD1 and the current price around 4200-4400.
( sorry liew_jls, didnt mean to hurt you, just wan to share with other thinkpaders.

for battery longer lifespan is really advisable that the battery that fully charged is removed or switch off the power adapter, although there is an auto power cutdown but it wont really totally block the electricity from pumping in to ur battery as you need to remember that malaysia voltage is at 240V and new notebooks now after through the adapter is 20V / 90W which is higher than previous models that runs on 16V / 72W.

just remember - take out battery / switch off power adapter if fully charged.
OR
if never use the battery, at least drain the battery to 10% and recharged to full again at least once in 1/2weeks. ( you can check the details from your manual book provided to you when you bought your thinkpad)

yes, the power manager will stop it when it's full, but u r still advised to take out as bobby said

maybe ur fren's is an incidental case, i nvr face such problem before where i had taken out and put it back for tons of time smile.gif if ur fren theory is true, then y the notebook manufacturer design it tht way? tongue.gif

if u wan to keep ur battery for long time, it's advisable to drain ur battery till 30-40%, and it'll be able to keep it around 1 year

I have a strange issue when connecting my T41 via s-video to my TV. I can see my desktop and all the applications on screen. But if I open a video file, I can't view the video on the TV screen. I see a "black rectangle" where the video should be but the rest of my desktop is clearly displayed on the TV. Anyone encountered this before?
