to make sure it's not the ram problem, u tried both corsair stick w the mixture of existing kingston

i doubt the incompatibility issue, make sure u slot the ram firmly, if it's really ram problem, go back and exchange with 1gb single stick, dual channel runs faster theoretically, but we wont notice in the real usage unless u r do bency

i tried mine w 1gb kingston mix w other ram no problem, anyhow now i'm using 1gb single stick, looking to upgrade later

thanks for ur idea! i tried and found out that one of the corsair ram having problem, cant start the pc by itself.

tomorrow will go to the pc fair again to change a new one. thanks bro!!!

no problem smile.gif

btw how bout u google the benefit of dual channel for me? tongue.gif

i always feels tht dual channel is not important for laptop, as the limitations of chipset and processor eg 400mhz, 533mhz, 667mhz, plus 2 stick ram = more power consumption tongue.gif if there's a choice giving 1.5gb ddr2 533 single channel vs 1gb ddr2 667 dual channel, i'll rather go for higher ram capacity

unless i'm on a desktop, dual channel will give more significant result, as the proc is 800mhz or higher, with additional OC, we'll only make use of dual channel flex.gif maybe i'm wrong, but thts my analysis so far

since u helping me a lot.... here you go:

Dual Channel DDR
Dual Channel DDR White Paper

So, with Dual Channel the memory speed doubles as you can check on the table below.

Memory
Rated Clock
Maximum Transfer Rate
Dual Channel Maximum Transfer Rate

DDR2-533
533 MHz
4,264 MB/s
8,528 MB/s

DDR2-667
667 MHz
5,336 MB/s
10,672 MB/s

@bezitagt, here's the bency done by notebookreview.com

dual channel may actually slower in certain extent? shakehead.gif

http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3002

@superflc, yeah thts theorictically, but when comes to real application, it doesnt give much improvement, u can try benchmark it with everest or sisoft sandra, or even better use real application like winrar or others

from wat i understand, if it was last time where p4 ht fsb is 800mhz, while ddr1 400mhz using dual channel, p4 ht will utilise it better, but now the ram is already 667mhz same as proc, so it wont differs much, thus ddr2 533 dual channel should performs better than ddr2 667 on core duo 667fsb due to tighter timing

before I changed the cpu, cpumark99 on dual channel ddr2 667 is 234, on dual channel ddr2 533 is 238.
SuperPi no difference.

When FSB = 667MHz.

Single DDR2 533 = too low
Single DDR2 667 = Merely fit
Dual DDR2 533 = More than enough but advantage is tight timing
Dual DDR2 667 = More than enough but loose timing

hi

as long as it's the same frequency and timing, it should be fine

if possible, always get the same brand and frequency, if not, it's ok too smile.gif

to secure, seek for seller who refunds incompatibility issue

err, 1 more question, why when i right click on the desktop, it will take quite a while and even the mouse cursor will change to the sand-clock cursor 1 to just open up the right click function. y got this kind of "lag" 1? ><. even no program is being run that time...got sumthing to do with my display setting or what? really strange....
