thanks for ur idea! i tried and found out that one of the corsair ram having problem, cant start the pc by itself.

tomorrow will go to the pc fair again to change a new one. thanks bro!!!

however, dual channel ddr did makes some different! u can google for more info.
*
no problem smile.gif

btw how bout u google the benefit of dual channel for me? tongue.gif

i always feels tht dual channel is not important for laptop, as the limitations of chipset and processor eg 400mhz, 533mhz, 667mhz, plus 2 stick ram = more power consumption tongue.gif if there's a choice giving 1.5gb ddr2 533 single channel vs 1gb ddr2 667 dual channel, i'll rather go for higher ram capacity

unless i'm on a desktop, dual channel will give more significant result, as the proc is 800mhz or higher, with additional OC, we'll only make use of dual channel flex.gif maybe i'm wrong, but thts my analysis so far

@bezitagt, here's the bency done by notebookreview.com

dual channel may actually slower in certain extent? shakehead.gif

http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3002

@superflc, yeah thts theorictically, but when comes to real application, it doesnt give much improvement, u can try benchmark it with everest or sisoft sandra, or even better use real application like winrar or others

from wat i understand, if it was last time where p4 ht fsb is 800mhz, while ddr1 400mhz using dual channel, p4 ht will utilise it better, but now the ram is already 667mhz same as proc, so it wont differs much, thus ddr2 533 dual channel should performs better than ddr2 667 on core duo 667fsb due to tighter timing

QUOTE(Austin @ Nov 14 2006, 11:52 AM)
before I changed the cpu, cpumark99 on dual channel ddr2 667 is 234, on dual channel ddr2 533 is 238.
SuperPi no difference.

When FSB = 667MHz.

Single DDR2 533 = too low
Single DDR2 667 = Merely fit
Dual DDR2 533 = More than enough but advantage is tight timing
Dual DDR2 667 = More than enough but loose timing

hi, wtm0325

but, my r51, still using ddr ram, is it still can use others band ram??
*
hi

as long as it's the same frequency and timing, it should be fine

if possible, always get the same brand and frequency, if not, it's ok too smile.gif

to secure, seek for seller who refunds incompatibility issue

Hi guys,

Need to upgrade a Celeron laptop to R60 (Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66mhz).  I'm from Ipoh so I was wondering if anyone around here bought a ThinkPad.  If yea, where did you buy it from?

I'd like to get one in Ipoh preferably.
*
so far only seen Stupox using it, most of us here are using R60 w T2300E which bought around 2-3 months ago, and all of us are satisfying and enjoying it thumbup.gif

QUOTE(superlfc @ Dec 21 2006, 11:37 AM)
I have changed mine BIOS SATA setting from AHCI to COMPATABILITY mode, under the advise from the IBM engineer. He told me that when I need to do the rescue and recovery, I might face problem under AHCI model. Normal using is ok.

Wonder what is your say?
*
i used AHCI as it should runs faster theoretically, but we cant sense the difference in real life tongue.gif

QUOTE(liew_jls @ Dec 20 2006, 07:22 PM)
it's a new battery...

anyway is there any tips ar? using Thinkpad ar?? 1st time i'm using laptop..  smile.gif
*
yeah, it's better to take it out as other laptops if u wan to maximize ur battery lifespan smile.gif even the software (power management) will stop it from charging when it's full, but thts only apply in windows.. if u are shutting down or restart, the software will stop function and ur battery will continue charging

QUOTE(akalia @ Dec 21 2006, 04:12 PM)
how long usually you guys will get your thinkpad once order from the reseller?

Im planning to get a x60 but not sure whether it's available in c2d or not...
*
i guess other buyer will help? most of us here are directly bought from reseller, which means cash and carry blush.gif

is it true?? during in the windows, it will stop charging?? i don't hv to do any setup??
But still have another question, my friend said if i take out the battery, then for a while, the battery can throw into dusbin. coz she had the experience before she take out the battery then after a while she put it back the battery cannot be used, but her laptop is not Thinkpad, other brand.
*
yes, the power manager will stop it when it's full, but u r still advised to take out as bobby said

maybe ur fren's is an incidental case, i nvr face such problem before where i had taken out and put it back for tons of time smile.gif if ur fren theory is true, then y the notebook manufacturer design it tht way? tongue.gif

if u wan to keep ur battery for long time, it's advisable to drain ur battery till 30-40%, and it'll be able to keep it around 1 year

I have a strange issue when connecting my T41 via s-video to my TV.  I can see my desktop and all the applications on screen.  But if I open a video file, I can't view the video on the TV screen.  I see a "black rectangle" where the video should be but the rest of my desktop is clearly displayed on the TV.  Anyone encountered this before?
*
thts no problem with ur cable, probably u tick the extend ur display in ur display properties

just open ur video, then u drag over the player to ur right, then u r done! biggrin.gif they are actually independent display, so u can now view video and do ur work at once thumbup.gif

Newbie here..

Just bought R60 (T5500) less than 2 weeks ago, still tinkering with it. I was debating between Dell 640m and this, but the R60's free 80GB porta-hdd and extra 512mb RAM deal sealed it for me tongue.gif
*
looks u hv got a good deal (t5500, 1gb ram, 80gb hdd, external 80gb hdd, pc dos), how much u bought? biggrin.gif

Why IMB mean by built to last? Why they are so popular eventhough it's ol skool design?
*
IBM had given in people a professional image, whenever people think bout IBM, people will think bout business + formal looking laptop.. the unique design also gives the engineer to concentrate on the internal electronic design, hence u'll notice IBM normally comes w less heat

business people wants their data to be secured rather than high end spec/ multimedia, hence u'll notice IBM built quality surpasses others laptop, yet their spec is always lower than other brand laptop.. however IBM has the best keyboard, 10 out of 10 people will start to like typing after using it, and becoz of its durability housing, u'll enjoy moving it around, unlike other multimedia laptop, i care less bout it and up till now it's still as tough as i first bought

Bring up the Control Panel, then click on System and bring up the "Hardware" tab and click on Device Manager. After you have done that, click on View>"Show Hidden Devices" and expand "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" by clicking on the little plus sign next to it. Scroll down to where you find "Beep" and disable that device driver. Then click OK/Apply to save changes and test it out. You shouldn't have the beep when you hit three keys anymore afterwards.
