-My eyes got problem (I check it everyear, thanks for tellin me this).. if i didn wear spec.. i need to sit very near to the screen. (Try put your head near to screen for hours and do your stuff then ah see why i vomit)

-Bout the way u "arrange" (I call it "dump", couse i dont have desktop i "dump" all my lappy everywhere inside my room) your rig no offend here bro.. maybe your room kinda small or u got too many stuff  on your room that why u need to "arrange" all your rig soo near and then sure it look like kinda messy hope u get me right..

Hehe thanks for bold all words for me. Btw i just ask for my answer didn mean expert or what(not being cocky also couse im not rich).. couse spend few k on ram really make me curious how much better it will be. If it is alot more better then i'm sure i'll load my lappy with max ram my lappy can take.

it runs smooth w aero, and i think actually 1.5gb is more than enuf, since the start up memory is near 700mb only

cant comment on its stability, it's still new, lots of program are still not compatible w it, and frankly i only find the major improving is the aero, nothing much differs from xp

for current time being i rather stick w xp, the battery life degrades a lot and quite a headace to find the right software to install as well

1) disconnect laptop from current including battery
2) close the lid, go to the bottom and unscrew 4 screws where ram icon located
3) open lid, pull the palm rest by holding the joint at fn and right arrow key, u need to pull harder to get the whole palm rest off
4) u'll c a wire connected from touchpad to motherboard, u can dismantle it and reassemble later
5) take out the metal in the middle, and install the ram

mortgage, here's my personal opinion:

x60 - unless u r holding ur notebook side by side everyday for more than 2 hours, mostly this can be done if you are not with own transport, x60 will be ur choice; or 12" is usually too small for presentation to clients

t/r60, - just nice, difference between the price (RM2250) will give, (1) dvd burner, (2) fingerprint, (3) 2 extra years warranty, (4) 250g less weight, (5) magnesium alloy lcd lid, (6) win xp pro, so choose and evaluate urself which u need and not

as for my situation (undergraduate student) i'm choosing r60, where i seldom use dvd burner, and will nvr bother other features except warranty; however for the price RM2250, i can use this extra amount for a new ibm after 2 years, which i think it's a worth and value for $

yes you can extend but u need to call IBM at 1800 88 8558 and ask them about the warranty extension. if they say ok then they will give u a service number if i not mistaken and then is either u will redirect to authorised dealer for purchase of extension or direct from them.

it's been so long and forgot to thank you for ur reply, thanks bobby thumbup.gif

arrgh, just got my new T60 today, when the background black for whole screen, i detect a Stuck Pixel, i hope it's not Dead Pixel, from what i know, Stuck Pixel can be fix ourself, it can be see clearly when Stuck Pixel surrounded s black color sad.gif i heard that this kind of problem is not under warranty? sad.gif

it cannot be see under normal windows environment, when the whole screen goes dark, i saw 1 pixel in red color sad.gifsad.gifsad.gif

if after u restart, the stuck pixel gone, then it's a software bugs by thinkpad caused by trackpoint

if after restart the same dot appear in the same place, then it's better to take back n change, usually one to one exhange warranty provided by shops

in terms of value, it's the R61 w pricing RM4788 or the T61 w pricing RM6788 (w ext gc)

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/300490

T series is definitely lighter for ~300g

R and T major difference is in the housing quality only - R is plastic (but they are real tough), T is magnesium alloy, and slight differs in features eg fingerprint reader, card reader, webcam etc

other than that, they are similar in terms of the quality of electronic items inside

it's up to u to decide, whether u wan a cost saving plan, or a top notch quality notebook.. nvr hesitate to get the R series for its cheap price tag, they are very great too, as wat i'm using now, just the housing only if u r running out budget

haha! i was just trying to tell that, R series is as good as T series!

it's always good to c the demo unit and gets ur own opinion, u may pay a visit at techdos lowyat 3rd floor as well as other branches

the 2k difference as the above model will not only be the housing, u'll get fingerprint reader, webcam, extended battery life (extra 2 cell), extra 40gb hdd capacity, dedicated graphic and most importantly additional 2 years warranty

the T61 RM6788 model is really worth it in my opinion, comparing to the T61 RM6288 model.. just in case if u r just fine with the spec of the R61, go ahead, RM2k is not a small amount at least for me, i can get another acer or compaq lappy which comes w dvdrw

just take ur ibm to one of the IT shop, u then act blur blur and tell them u will like to upgrade ur laptop ram to at least 512mb or 1gb but u dunno whether ur laptop can support o not, thus request them to test the ram on the spot for u brows.gif

consequences, u must buy the ram if ur laptop supported, dun waste their effort smile.gif

@vito, yes the ram will run backwards to ddr2 533, however it's advisable to get the ram which has the same frequency

u can try ddr2 667 1st, if unstable then only change to ddr2 533, majority shops at lowyat allow u to top up or change things within 1 week, provided u return full set and receipt brows.gif
