how is the R60 screen for watching DVD?

And how is the viewing angle? wud it be ok for 2 people to watch DVD side by side? Or must u be right in the middle of the screen to enjoy DVD?
*
frankly speaking, u'll need to view it right middle of the screen smile.gif

yes, i did... have been using thinkpad for years but they are company property. this r60 is my first thinkpad for my own. my company got fujitsu, dell, toshiba.... using them all but still the vote goes to thinkpad. no question ask.

how can u put a thinkpad to a v3010 side by side for comparison anyway? they are not on the same level.  tongue.gif
*
really? fujitsu or toshiba not tht great oso? tongue.gif

v3010 has better spec n functions with great price too, can compare ma..

btw i'm desperate for a svideo port, this is really a big disadvantage for 14" R60 doh.gif

Use both the trackpoint and the touchpad la... IBM has so nicely given us both smile.gif I find myself using different muscles for both pointing devices so when I feel a bit tired I just switch, hehehe....

Still prefer a mouse when I have the space though.
*
yeah mouse is still the best no doubt tongue.gif

i'll prefer point stick when i put my lappy on my lap using battery, reason is no need to move around palm to surf net tongue.gif the middle button of ultranav plays very important role to scroll the page, u just need to press it then move ur point stick, kaodim, nobody will enjoy point stick if they dunno how to use the middle button tongue.gif

Saw you won the bid for the ThinkPad (by the way I'm omni999's brother).
Though of getting one too from her, but what worries me is the battery.

Wtm is your R60 running on T2300E(1.66GHz) or T2300(1.66GHz)?

I did a little research on the two so called "identical" processor and this is what i discovered ...

Read this first

Read this second
http://www.laptoplogic.com/news/detail.php?id=963

So is the model "ThinkPad R60 9455-A18" sold in Malaysia using T2300E or T2300?
*
mine is t2300e as my sig smile.gif

yeah they r different, but VT doesnt bother me, i only use 1 OS tongue.gif

Check this out ...
http://www.lenovoblogs.com/design/design-i...r-on-the-brain/

Notice for first time R60 user :
1. When upgrading RAM, never use force to pull the armrest out, shake it left and right to loosen it from the front latch. You can also use your finger nail. Slide your finger nail between the gaps starting from one side to the other.
2. MUST install "Rescue and Recovery", if your unit is the MS-DOS version. You won't want to download/reinstall drivers/applications all over again (unless your office connection is superfast).
3. When there is a power source, best use your ThinkPad without battery. Just plug adapter to notebook (have the battery remove first) connect to power source , switch it on, viola, you are good to go. I do this to increase battery lifespan (don't want to strain it from constant charging). I use battery only when there's no power source.
4. Don't eat AMW Ramadan promotion, it's disgusting. Kidding, you can ignore this.
*
Nyxator, really thanks for the review and great info especially the drainage system, thts really cool cool.gif

mine inner part was greyish metal, it looks dirty too, but doesnt looks brown, i may take a pic when i got my digicam next time

and i'll contribute the complete driver list next week when i'm back to kl, we do not the Realtek HD audio, just a patch file from microsoft biggrin.gif

Sorry it's September 2005 last year. My mistake.

Hey got a question to ask. I have installed CPU Z and my R60 is always running at 997++ Mhz in "Maximum Peformance" configuration.

Is this the peak performance of R60 only at 997Mhz, I thought it's suppose to go all the way up to 1.66 Ghz?

Or am I missing out some settings?

Or is this how core duo behaves?
*
i doesnt know thts normal or bugs for new IBM lappy, this only happens when u took out the battery, whenever wat mode u set in windows or bios, once u take out the battery, the speed maintains at 900++mhz

looks like all of us here enjoy n appreciate our R60 very much rite? affordable, tahan lasak, excellent in built quality n internal design, which is worth every penny for sacrificing the spec thumbup.gif

3. unknown device - it's known as thinkpad pm device, u'll found 1 unknown device after installing all the drivers above, so far i'm using microsoft auto online updating function to find this driver, i'm ONLY able to install after i updating all the microsoft hotfix

i did the hotfix update... still no luck here.
what u meant by auto online updating function? windows update?
*
after i updated all the windows hotfix, i go back to device manager n reinstall the unknown device, by selecting "yes, this time only" where the windows prompt u connect online to search for drivers

well, since you already have the thinkpad utilities installed on your lappy, wouldnt double effort to run NHC as well?

Got that installed too, but find out that the power management thingy is overlapping my thinkpad's one... so got it uninstalled.

today i got 1 dead pixel, n i follow the link but no luck at all.. then suddenly i find this thread
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/UltraNav

wao actually thts caused by software bug, after restart no more laugh.gif
pity my lcd, pressed darn hard by me

anyone know if i use the non-specfic 4 ibm ram like normal kingston, apacer, hynix or other brands.

what will happen, is it pc on in long period will be lag or unstable???
*
i'm now using kingston kvr alone and runs flawlessly smile.gif

what u wan to do is u need not mix up different frequency/timing ram, if u r goin to run dual channel, same chipset/brand is advisable

QUOTE(Stupox @ Nov 30 2006, 07:01 AM)
guys need to know whether is there any T60/R60 thinkpad model with C2D processor,1GB ram, and 256MB GC. really interested, need to buy it in this upcoming pc fair.
*
as far as i know, only T60 is available, so far hvnt seen R60 with tht kind of spec appeared here, maybe the high end T & R hv similar price thus people will rather go for T series

T series = magnesium alloy casing
R series = ABS plastic

just for ur info the price for tht spec is sky high, hv a look at the thread below

just brought 2 unit of Corsair 512MB ddr2 667MHz ram. When i plug in both ram, my r60 failed to power on.

i will only power on when i mix 1 unit of corsair with my existing kingston 256MB 667MHz ram or just by 1 corsair itself.

wonder why i cant power on with both corsair ram?

help!!!!!!
*
to make sure it's not the ram problem, u tried both corsair stick w the mixture of existing kingston

i doubt the incompatibility issue, make sure u slot the ram firmly, if it's really ram problem, go back and exchange with 1gb single stick, dual channel runs faster theoretically, but we wont notice in the real usage unless u r do bency

i tried mine w 1gb kingston mix w other ram no problem, anyhow now i'm using 1gb single stick, looking to upgrade later
