QUOTE(sonyman @ Feb 12 2013, 07:20 PM) The best discouNt given to new cars so far is ford, 25k for the old model mondeo, cause cannot sell, if Toyota ever give big discounts, it merely means the world is going to end, so they wanna clear all the old stock. But if it does happen, I won't mind getting a brand new Camry at proton prices, why not, Camry good car, but over price, but driving a Camry is tricky, cause if you about to. Rearend someone, make sure it is 40% of the car, if you kena small overlap test sure si liau, haha, wtf, GOA body, my ass This is just a crap for current Camry. They are suicide tier D seg sale

Are there any numbers? I don't see that many new Camrys on the road, but if that means slow sales I don't know. Maybe they can't produce them fast enough...

There won't be any new numbers or model specific information to be released since MAA believes doing so is an offence under Competition Act (The irony of "competition act")

Because market got better offer we say camry overprice, but a lot of uncle still think that Camry is worth the money you pay for, if you are tau keh you should at least get a Camry, that's what the current old ppl think, but in future 5 to 10 years time, things will change, For the time being, Camry will still be king, no matter what, but we are blessed with many other better brands that offer better value for us smart buyers. So young ppl, show your support on other brands like Mazda ford and vw, and so on, let these stupid brands know the power of consumer.

QUOTE(blu3 @ Feb 13 2013, 08:44 AM) Passat, even your k5 is more than Camry. Not a surprise because customer is smart. If you driven into Setia alam or the residential area (setia eco park), you'd see a bucket load of new Camry all parked there. In the last few days, I've seen quite a bit more 508, K5 and Passat on the road than I've seen Camry but it's also possible many of the owners went back hometown or is outstation.

Their d seg car is going down to drain in future Care to share any statistically information to back that up? If not then it is just purely assumption. While I don't really like the new Camry, blatantly posting assumption is not leading to a healthy discussion. I see more Camry than K5 and 508 on the road, but the figure is as equal as Passat, but that does not always translate to the "fact" Passat is doing better than K5 or 508, it could be the reverse. And Sonata, lol, practically non-existent anymore. Hardly see any new WX registration, seen more K5 though.

I don't think anyone can come up with a solid figure but what we do know are the following: 1. VW is the no.1 selling European Marque in Malaysia based on the numbers summarized by MAA at the end of 2012, VW outsells Peugeot by slightly over 2:1. 2. The Passat is selling almost 3:1 compared to the 508 from the period of Jan-May of 2012. Based on these numbers, we can conclude the high likelihood that there are more Passat on the road than there are 508. Unfortunately, there are no figures available for the K5 and I do see more K5 on the road compared to either the VW Passat or the PUG 508.

I'll concur on the comparison between Passat and 508 but comparison between K5 and Passat will be likely vague in the absence of concrete information/data in the name of "Competition Act".

No I was there to visit a friend over the lunar new year holidays and happen to see the number of new Camry being parked. Lots of Penang and Johor plates but still quite a large number of owners nevertheless.

no matter what ,camry is still king of sales, time being, but when more models come, mazda 6, accord, then numbers will slow down, but time being all the camrys on the road are those that were waiting for CNY delivery and those that have owned one and now changing to a new one.
but new generation, maybe not,

Well, I don't need any figures to tell me how popular the K5 actually is. Just drive around the city and count the number of K5 you come across in a day. Visual information alone should already tell you what you already suspect and you can reasonably conclude that the K5 is selling as many if not more numbers than the Passat or the 508. I strongly suspect car numbers could be higher for all D-segments, but many people are just taking a wait and see approach until after the upcoming GE before committing.

Ive seen an relatively equal number of Passat and K5. Dont see many Jetta's as compared to Passat's. But like Icehart said, most of the Sonata's im seeing now are older registered models. Rarely seen a Sonata with a new number plate.
