Actually I think I've seen more K5 on the road than I've seen Passat these days. To be frank, the new Camry isn't as hot as I thought it would be. It's still probably the no.1 seller but I don't think Toyota is really doing as many numbers as they thought they would.

Yes they are number one seller, but not D seg. Many prefer dugong

Yes the 508 is another rare sighting. Ive seen an relatively equal number of Passat and K5. Dont see many Jetta's as compared to Passat's. But like Icehart said, most of the Sonata's im seeing now are older registered models. Rarely seen a Sonata with a new number plate.

I think if people are given a choice, K5 sounds to be a better deal. You get similar engine and more gadgets for a better price. New Gen buyers are very price conscious when it comes to value for money.
With the A6 Hybrid launching soon, we'll see even more stiff competition for D segment cars.

About K5 and Passat sales comparison, can't conclude anything since I believe they're very close comparison. But I would say K5 would be doing better sales, given it's price tag over the Passat.
As for Toyota, no doubt it's still a leader in D segment and hopefully they'll offer better specs in the upcoming facelift.
But then they're focusing on the new Gen Vios and Altis, which are the bread and butter models for UMW.

Not worth the money unless comfort is your first and foremost priority.

There are just so many better D segment cars out there available that gives you better bang for your buck and balance.

Japanese cars are more or less comparable to each other, so between Toyota, Honda and Mazda etc, they should be very similar. I think the Koreans are comparable as well in maintenance cost.

Yes, Europeans tend to cost more than the Koreans and Japanese.

If comfort is the number one priority then I'd go for the Citroen C5.

Isn't Honda much more expensive to maintain than Toyota? Volvo the schedule looked pretty expensive. For my Renault I think it is rather affordable. VW also not that expensive? Not sure. At least their longer servicing interval helps offset some of the cost, and you loose less time. Also don't forget that some car makers offer free servicing for a while or longer warranties.

The C5 should be more comfortable, but there's only 1 service center in the entire Klang Valley and 1 in Penang? That's kind of troublesome.

Honda servicing cost isn't more expensive compared to Toyota. They're actually similar in pricing, but they force you to go in for servicing every 6 months or 10,000km (whichever comes first) under the new servicing schedule. Failure in doing so will void your warranty, for people who don't drive their cars much, it's a very stupid rule.

Renault, you don't have any choice right now except for the Clio and Megane. Not unless you buy 2nd hand.

Not surprising, considering Mazda isn't that popular compared to the big 3. But you have 3 years of free servicing and warranty. So for the next 3 years, don't worry about it.

I'm not 100% sure the current Citroen C5 is all that comfortable.
The 245/45 R18 tyres doesn't absorb potholes well.

Maybe 16 or 17 inch rims will be more comfortable but handling will be worse.

Hm, not even on the comfort setting? Have you compared it with other D segmenters? The XM was extremely comfortable...

You should be able to exchange the spheres with comfort spheres which should increase the comfort.

After using my Camry 2.5V for a year.
1. I impressed many people for the tremendous huge space.
2. Since this is my first D segment car, I cannot comment much regarding comfortness. But,, I can say that it is nice to sit in it as compared to a C200.
3. It is not a powerful car. Even a 2.0 Civic can produced more power than it. However, it still allows me to show off on top of Titiwangsa.

1. No doubt. But anyone who has ever been in a Camry should already have expected that.
2. C200 is from a smaller car segment. But to let you know, interior-wise, the Camry is even bigger than the E class
3. Wrong. Your car should have more power. 0 to 100 times actually in the 8.8s range, which is actually quite good for a big car like Camry. The Civic will be more nimble because it is lighter and shorter. On a windy roads, the Civic will be a better car to drive compared to your Camry.

@kepalapening:
tongue.gif Shall we try that with your Camry? Even a new Hilux may not survive...
