haha, i thought SE215 is good enough. Any recommendation for better in-earphones? Or HUDMX2 can help to boost better sound quality?

Do upgrade your earphone. You will notice more change in the sound quality, rather than spend it on DAC/amp.
Do state your budget and preference in the sound signature, i.e. bassy, vocal-centric, clear, etc
Easier for others to help

Thanks got the guidelines.

My budget is less than RM1,000, if just earphone will make a big diffs will just go ahead with it. Personally prefer an in-earphone cause headphone will cause headache after certain hours.

As music taste wise i have quite a wide range of music taste from classical down to death metal, yes which include Bossa Nova, Jazz, movies soundtrack such like Thomas Bergersen or Lamb of God. So theoretically i prefer more vocal-centric, clear and not so much on bass.

A DAC/amp will help to improve the delivery of audio quality but your SE215 will then become the weak link ... like putting a Ferrari engine into a Kancil sweat.gif

laugh.gif laugh.gif will keep this DAC/amp in mind. Based on my personal preference on type of songs, any better recommendation for better in-earphones?

Currently, I'm using Marantz PM6005, plan to sell it, as I'm going to power amp way, so I'll need a preamp with DAC and headphone output, sth like an integrated solution, thinking to ask to customize O2+ODAC combo to work as preamp?

hi all sifus here. would like to get suggestion on portable dac+amp combo, mainly for driving Sennheiser HD650 and probably gonna add IEMs(but not sure what yet)

i said portable but not really for on-the-go usage, it just that im travelling but will only do my music listening via my laptop in Hotel room or Temporary houses.

been using Aune T1 MKII, not really good pairing plus the bulky size + with the psu means it's a no-no to travel with laugh.gif

my budget is RM1500 max, heard a lot of positive remark on GoVibe Vest+ paired with HD650, so that's my now go-to dac+amp if there's no other suggestion.

thanks in advance

For strong driving power, smooth and musical sound, I recommend you to go for Aune B1 class a descrete amp. The sound signature is warm, refined and clean, smoother and very analogue sound.

The 2 c5 and e12 is more to the bright side and thinner music body. Cayin c5 should hav3 stronger driving power than e12. Jds c5 wise, I'm not so sure. O2 wise is darker treble which might not benefit HD650 that has dark treble.

All depends on what kind of sound that you like. You may want to audition them before making decision.

Cayin c5 is good for your budget and requirement. It's clean, warm, to the bright side and direct sound.
If you can up your budget a bit and prefer a richer sound, I suggest you to go for Aune b1.

First of all, depends on which part is more important to you.
Also you are using the headphone amp to drive which headphone? Do you need a strong amp or just a normal headphone amp?

There are a lot of DAC with headphone amp and Pre amp. But depending on your budget, sound signature that you prefer and music genre that you listen to.
Budget one like Aune x1 pro DSD. Higher range matrix new mini I, mini I pro and so on.

Well objectively I do not want to rely in DSD decoding, also it's way too luxury to go that so called "high bit" way, ODAC will work just fine with 24bit, which suffice for line level volume adjustment using a preamp or even professional studio mixing, for preamp volume adjust, O2 amp with 1X gain setting will do, I have seen some people already did this, by placing special order to JDS Labs, can't wait to try myself, in any way I found that mostly sound less perfect because of the speakers, or the amplifier, back to the 4 parameters: noise, distortion, frequency response, and time-based error hmm.gif

For headphone amp, O2 amp is enough for me, maybe a bigger volume knob for better look drool.gif
