Any kernel I can use~~I tried a few but couldn't work~~

Through recovery mode, I installed from zip, it just say aborted~~

Currently using the firmware's kernel~~feel a little bit laggy~~

Yeah....but CM7 is not really for daily consumption for most people with the battery drain and bugs. JMHO

anybody used juwe 5.1..where to set the lockscreen...i cannot find the place to change that..not in display setting
*
I'm using juwe 5.1 too,oc it to 1.2Ghz now it's feel pretty damn smooth and fast! biggrin.gif
To change the lock screen go to Apps>EDT Tweaks and select the Lock Screen Options.
There's like 4-5 lock screen animation you can choose from.

Cheers.

well, you are correct there about cm7 not being the solution for most users, but it does show that your broad sweeping statement about lagginess being an attribute of the sgs is not really true..

BTW, I've been on cm7 nightlies since may and its just been getting better and better..

somehow, i feel regret flashing DXJV9 before this. now everytime i flash back to ZSJPJ, i got the red and yellow colored words in recovery and just now, when i reboot the phone, it pass through boot animation, but cannot go to the home screen. the screen is black and keep vibrating. i guess i have to try factory reset in recovery and hopefully it will boot up again. haih

edit : oh well, now its okay back again. i think this all started from flashing DXJV9. had to do the factory reset everytime after flash. shakehead.gif

I am just being realistic about it. If anyone can really confirm that there is no lag in the rom that they use without OC, then I wanna know and I believe most of the SGS owners here would wanna use it too. In the end there is still some lag here and there and that doesn't render the phone useless. Its just minor inconvenience. But facts remain facts and I won't lie about it.

Then why talk about a rom that is not applicable to the mass users?

I can confirm that with CM7, I can't remember any instances where I got a lag. I tested this with nightly #34. The lag has gone long before this nightlies.

My friend, the moment we talk about custom roms and custom kernels, we are deviating from the mainstream.

CM7 is so smooth that I'd still use it even if only 3G data, calls and sms worked on it ha ha. Can't even look at stock or stock-based custom roms/kernels now.. wub.gif

What's your current kernel? i'm about to flash to MIUI too, and i think Glitch is the best for now. Tried Neo kernel before, but sometimes do lags also.
*
i using glitch pre-v11. thumbup.gif can try la. more battery consumption but smooth than neo which is laggy.

i think no one in this world can guarantee any device that will not lag(even Mr. J). for me "other os" will lag too(if you really want to compare icon_rolleyes.gif ). it is depend on how the user optimize their device. smile.gif
