you can find it mostly in the first page. it's very very useful. there are lots of links provided directly to the xda forum, you might wanna check those. well, for my short review, if you want to have a good battery life in idle and good speed, 2.3.3/2.3.4 are good for you, but if you looking for much more stable rom, i think 2.2.1 is the best. i tried jvp stock rom before, miui galnet, 2.3.3 jvk and f1 gs2 mod but still i prefer to use the old XWJS8 as my daily use because of the battery and stability.

Usually his haters are come from Doc's thread maybe, or he's just being too cocky because sometimes he brag about his rom and some people doesnt like it. but for me, i think he's a great guy and i always respect his works. some haters just can get enough prhaps. lolz

Welcome bro. okay, this is some kind of basic explanation that u need to know about custom kernel and root. rooting is something about installing an app called Superuser as there are some apps required superuser running on your phone. one thing i found very useful is if you root your phone, you can do lots of things easily like you can simply do a backup for your apps data using Titanium Backup, which cannot be used if you dont have root in your phone.

As for rooting, you can get it by simply flash a custom kernel like Speedmod Kernel (available for froyo and gingerbread roms, but froyo is the stable one.Go to the first page to find the link and also read the whole thing on how to root when you already with the kernel.)

IMO, i don't think rooting can actually brick the phone. we're not the same like in iOS where if you do something wrong during Jailbreaking, you'll bricked your phone. The 3 things i can say that can make brick your phone is:

1) During flashing process, you suddenly mess up during the halfway of the process then the installation is not complete. ( for me, i think this is the most dangerous one and have the highest risk that can kill your phone straightaway.)
2) Flash custom firmware without unlagfix your phone.
r3) Flash without checking either your 3-button recovery is enabled or not. if you have a wrong flash and your 3 button recovery is not working, you know the answer.

Take some time to read and understand about your phone first. First page really have a lots of good information for new starter.

yeah, mostly i read in xda, they only got some dead internal sd but its because of the manufacture problem. well so far i got 4 soft bricks, how about u? lolz. during the first time i bricked my sgs, i ran back to home with sweat all over the place. its all because of the galaxy s tweak app in the market.

edit; just video call with lordjabu right now and the quality is really superb when see from my laptop. only the video will get choppy if the phone kinda being move around, but so far really a satisfaction to see skype finally got video call.

guys,any tips for vpn? last time i used Boleh VPN from here which is free, can use the pandora radio and also skype is working on 3g. but now its not working anymore, anyone know other alternatives? tried OpenVPN but no go.

What's your current kernel? i'm about to flash to MIUI too, and i think Glitch is the best for now. Tried Neo kernel before, but sometimes do lags also.

somehow, i feel regret flashing DXJV9 before this. now everytime i flash back to ZSJPJ, i got the red and yellow colored words in recovery and just now, when i reboot the phone, it pass through boot animation, but cannot go to the home screen. the screen is black and keep vibrating. i guess i have to try factory reset in recovery and hopefully it will boot up again. haih

edit : oh well, now its okay back again. i think this all started from flashing DXJV9. had to do the factory reset everytime after flash.
