understood, and im well aware of the disadvantages getting korean car in m'sia, ie after sales support, service, low trade in..

but if im really concern abt this, i wudnt have bought a kia, instead...wat really attracts me is the appeal, value for money..nevertheless, im thankful for ur advice, and frankly, my odds of changing it is like 30%, coz i know abt the trade in price those shops offer...

i used to won 4 sets of conti tyres from smiles mobil competition....sportsctc3 16" if im not wrong..too bad cant fit my civic, i wudnt have traded it...they offer me like 100/pc...for brand new tyre..  mad.gif

Hahahahahaha, kasihan. If you rajin enough to advertise on Mudah.my, you'll find there's a lot of ready buyer that's willing to pay you cash & more than the tyre shop. Just make sure you sell cheaper than market price, you make more dy. Kudos to you for choosing a Kia. My Kia Optima almost touching 100k, and I'm happy to say, it has given me & my family zero problems except for regular servicing, which comes every 7500 - 10000 km. Once the warranty expired, started sending to Hyundai instead, and they offer top class service levels at affordable prices. Hope your car doesn't suffer from the crappy resale value that the older Kias have to suffer though.

I did put it up on mudah...beside the tyre, i got pioneer sound system(which i too put it into mudah), gps(which i gave it to my bro), and service voucher which i traded it for 2~3 bottles semi mobil engine oil(i use it myself)..

the 2 items got many calls from interested party, but just cant conclude the deal..dunno why..my terms was simple, cash n carry....think i ask for 150/pc

That doesnt sound like any saleswoman i would want as my SA. Not the kind of customer service i would like.

But let me ask you, is she a bit plump? Cuz when i was there last week there was this lady explaining bout the Optima to an interested buyer. She actually told them 'the Optima suspension is the same as the Camry'. I butted in and said 'Not the same. The rear suspension on the Optima has got gas shock absorbers'.

Ive noticed this at all the Kia showrooms ive gone to. Not a single salesperson actually knows the car well enough. Makes me wonder about their mechanics though. Hence why i didnt target to get the Optima fast. Surely dont want my car to end up like a guinea pig during the periodic service. biggrin.gif

Bro, that was my experience too, where all the SAs i met r full of bullshit n not technically sound. At last found 1 whom is technically sound n knows bout the car. Bought mine from him. He is Kevin from Kia Glenmarie (016-9969868). Tell him Hazrill recommended.

took the car for a spin yesterday nite, roughly 30km...read from manual not to keep the car at constant single speed when breaking in, so tried tekan n gentle intermediately...responsive, definitely better in term of performance than accord 2.0 or camry 2.0 current model in malaysia i tried...

the sound system, infinity.. really impressed me...put some disco music into the player, and put the volume at 15 and the music already really loud till i cant hear a thing other than that(that loud)..and the volume bar still got at least 67% more to go...took it to 28 and there is still no breaking pecah pecah sound from the speaker..but most importantly, the sound still crisp and clear

there are 3 fog lights other than the main unit headlight...namely, the front fog light (normal yellow bulb), DRL(white LED), and the tail light foglight..all can be trun on manually from the signal stick...took me a while to get used to the symbol at the supervisory cluster to know which is which light...

tried auto headlight unit oso..apparently, if u leave the headlight in auto mode, and u turn off the engine and leave the car(like parking), the headlight will auto turn off in approx 30s...not sure if it also means auto mode as in will turn on when it gets dark...coz i tried it at nite time, already dark...

there is also a rear boot opening(manual)..meaning that u can open the boot by pressing a soft rubber button at the back (boot lid) something like CRV..another 2 ways, by the smart key, and the driver seat lever...

also in case if the petrol lid is stuck, u cant open it thru the driver seat side, u can open the boot and there is a secondary lever to unlock the petrol lid..

spent quite a lot of time at trying the bluetooth system...i use galaxy s2, and i read somewhere oso, not so friendly as per iphone system..even after many tries, still cant really get hold of the system..hahaa...back to reading manual

read oso from manual, there are many things to play ard with the supervisory clustermeter system, ie the welcome light, excort light, maintenance setting and few more, but im already tired, prob will try tonite..

Added on March 7, 2012, 11:21 amthe side static light (the one that will widen the headlight lighting area when u make turning) is cool..

the console on the steering, is working fine..responsive, contrary to one member here which got lagging problem with the steering buttons...

paddle shifter working really smooth, always gone unnoticed the gear change..

middle console lack space...will prefer if they give more space in boxy rather than the 2 bottle holder which limit the space..and the smart key shud design like in the new passat, shove in the smart key into a designated hole, so dont feel like have to put somewhere, but not fixed where kinda feel

Wah, seems that you really enjoying your car. I remember seeing from the Kia International website there's a dedicated slot to place your keyless smart key, no meh? Btw, already test top speed ah? thumbup.gif

Actually almost all Showrooms got this prob... Last time I asked an SA about Honda Accord rear suspension.....I purposely asked whether the rear suspension is Multi-Link...

Then the SA said no.. It's a very good suspension... And I was like WTF ? shakehead.gif

Same goes when I visit Mitsubishi to ask about the new ASX... I asked about the CVT trans...
Is it easy to maintain ? Can use normal GB oil ?

He said yes very easy & can use normal GB oil... It is infact same like normal auto gear boxes... Dafuq..... rclxub.gif

These SAs need more knowledge on cars man...

aiyor..biasa lar...u ask SA for comments on the car, of course they exxagerate things and say this good that good....and many not taking their job seriously wan..ie study their own products, research and so forth wan...

u have to do own survey and check the facts from forums, surveys, reviews and actual customers comments better..

my SA, i ask him first 2qs, i already stop asking..by 2nd visit, after decided to buy, only talk price and delivery to him..but that oso sakit hati

no designated slot for the smart key wan...
and top speed, no lar...sayang my car lar...dont want to do it lar...at least not so fast..odo just 146km...read from SG, one guy drove up north(m'sia lar) using nkve manage 170km/hr easily, no steering shaking, oversteer, understeer...above that slightly vibrate lioaw, and engine humming loud..he clocked 190km/hr if im not mistaken...

Bro, there is a lag. I just visited the showroom again just now after i heard the complaints from Gregy. There is a delay with the volume control and also the ilumination meter. If u press 1 by 1 then no delay but if u press and hold then there is delay. As for the ilumination control, it actually got stuck at 17 when i was playing around. I pressed and held and also did the 1 tap a few times but didnt work. Then after a few mins only then did it work but the delay was apparent.

Doesnt seem very convincing. sad.gif

press 1 by 1 okie, responsive..
if press long then it will lag a bit before it starts moving..fine with me..it happens at many places other than in kia optima...maybe programming of their software...something like, if u press backspace at ur keyboard long, it will lag at first before starts deleting word by word rather than alphabet by alphabet...

as of meter illumination, mine okie...tune to 20 and max and back to min okie with me...just that the steering button backlight is not in line with meter...steering backlight nice at ard 17~max, but meter is damn too bright...meter and middle console is nice at 10~13, but steering backlight is too dark..

my gear knob face dropped off yesterday..haha... shocking.gif
it suppose to be clip on with adhesive, but maybe the plastic clip/hook has been chipped off or design/mould problem, causing it to come off if being peel, but will not drop off by itself...going to add adhesive to glue it back

For those of you who want to test drive the new Optima K5, it will be available during the Kia Red Cube PJ Open House this Friday, Sat and Sunday.

Better go early to avoid the crowds. Im sure many will be lining up to test the Optima.

View the car yesterday. Looks very impressive but got no alarm. Did any of u guys install any 3rd party alarm?

I may choose this car over sportage cause the fc of optima is better than sportage. I think.. ,,
