No bro. That is not what u mean. He is not comparing other countries. He is basically saying the VW cars are well worth their price or actually considered cheap while whats on offer for the Optima isnt worth its price tag. Both of which is think is bullocks. Sorry.

Bro I think you need to re-read what yazidsahak wrote:

"cars like jetta, camry, u pay more than what u get
c4 u pay what u get, IMHO
K5 u pay less than what u get
in this capitalism world, when u pay less than what u get, then u should think twice. "

What he actually said, is that for the Jetta and Camry, you get LESS than what you pay for.

Citroen C4, he feels one gets EXACTLY what one pays for.

K5, he feels that one gets MORE than what one pays for.

And his final statement, he feels that if you get MORE than what you PAY for, then you should stop and consider, what's the catch?

That, in a nutshell, is what bro yazidsahak was trying to convey.

Yes now i realise. My mistake. Sorry Yazid. notworthy.gif

Well, wht the Koreans are doing is simply making their cars more attractive. They know they cant go head to head against the Japs by offering standard equipment while charging similar prices. So its either they really slash their prices (which wont do their resale value any good) or dump in a whole lot of specs which far outgun the Japs. In addition to that they have thrown in the 5 year unlimited mileage manufacturer warranty which none of the Japs have. So they are actually killing 2 birds with 1 stone: making their cars more attractive while giving the notion of quality. BUt its a win-win situation for them as they also ensure continous after sales mantainence at their service centres as a prerequisite for the warranty.

Can someone comment on the interior lighting at night??

This is my interpretation as well.

The statement below says it all. Justrefer to the one-liner as highlighted.

"Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Co and its affiliate Kia Motors Corp have overtaken Japanese automakers as the benchmark for value-for-money. The Koreans have also taken advantage of a favorable exchange rate to install pricier fuel-saving technologies and other extras while Japanese brands struggle to offset the debilitating impact of a strong yen."

Hope this helps clear the air

No i didnt get into any detailed discussions with him. Will only do so once i am confirmed gettin the car from him. BUt im looking at Kia PJ now. They seem to have the highest trade in offer for my Vios. So will see.

But i would always push for a cash rebate rather than all the freebies. I dont need fuel since i dont pay for it in the first place. Tint i would rather put in my own.

hi guys,

got my optima k5 white yesterday nite...it was year 2012 manufactured..i made my booking on 1st feb...at first, the SA told me 3mths waiting, but it came earlier... rclxms.gif

looking for d-segment car...was reading reviews from sg, us, aus abt new camry, new accord, k5, sonata and passat....end up decided to take first korean car namely k5 into my family...hse have city vtec, civic 2008, crv 2010...but just wasnt convinced accord is my type even after so many hondas..

first driving was quite impressve...note that i didnt have test drive b4 i make my booking...but saw the long list of features and the engine spec...paid upfront after 2nd visit...

took the car for first drive..quite responsive...slightly more responsive than civic 1.8 i have..but handling sure more stabil and planted...however, not as good as volks passat..gadgets and interior many have commented here...

exterior, a beau !!

noticed noise from wheel at slightly above 60kmh..luckily read from overseas forum, these korean they pumped high pressure into the tyres...and they sure did...went to kiosk, found the air was 375kPa in all 4 wheels !!! shocking.gif

quickly deflate it to rated 240 and the noise substantially reduced..

didnt manage to try more, as it was already really late...i took the car straight from showroom to gym place...parked there till midnite, then ehad home..wife waiting to see car..more anxious to see the car than me !!!

Congratulation
Did you trade in your old civic 1.8?

I also have a civic in hand planning to trade in for K5 Optima?
If yes, may i know how much they accept your car?

Now that you mention it, I discovered a slight anomaly with a showroom unit a few days after the official launch. When I pressed the volume controls on the steering, they appear slightly unresponsive, as in I needed to press them once, release then press again before the volume changed. And then the channel wouldn't change when I pressed the channel up/down switch on the steering.

I found it rather odd, as I was used to the controls on my Forte which are very responsive, almost as fast as changing the controls on the head unit itself.

The Japanese automakers have been hit really hard this time round. The strong Yen coupled with disasters both at home and in Thailand have dealt a double whammy that will take some time to shake off.

And lest we say it's not our fault, indirectly, thanks to the foolish pride of Thailand's neighbour (us!) who were so afraid of losing our national identity and kept protecting our so-called local automotive industry, the Japs wouldn't have set up shop in Thailand in the first place, and the Thais wouldn't have risen so fast to become the automotive hub of this region in such a short time.

Now it remains to be seen if our automotive policies would change for the better, to allow automotive FDI to flow freely into the country or not. For want of national pride and royally screwing its people to protect the interests of some, we have let a golden opportunity slip us by for too long.

Now is the time to welcome the world's automakers to our country with open arms. The title of ASEAN's automotive hub rightly belonged to us before some mamak had a distorted epiphany and delusions of grandeur.

I didnt mean the normal items excluded. Of course any own damages will not be included as with wear & tear items. But im more concerned with the mechanical and electrical components.

What do you mean aircond only 6 months warranty? What parts exactly?

Btw, why would you wanna change the rims on the car? I hope you are not one of those ah beng types who have destroyed many really good car looks by fitting on sub-standard rims merely on the pretext of being different.

refrigerant charge actually, not the compressor or coils..Any subsequent top up will not be covered in warranty
which also excluded in honda...my point is, nothing much suspicious abt their warranty commitment

u guys know any good place to trade in stock rim n tyres? only weak point is this pizza rim..haaha tongue.gif

When it comes to changing your rims + tyres to aftermarket, would suggest you do research on your stock rims + tyres first. No use changing to aftermarket rims if it's going to be more heavier than your current rims. It will result in bad F/C, not to mention higher loads on your suspension system due to higher unsprung weight. Furthermore, when you trade in your stuff, although it's new, you're going to lose a lot of $$$ as the tyre shops are definately give you the lowest deal possible so they make a profit. Better to use your 1st set tyres until they require changing, then only trade-in your rims + get brand new tyres. That way, you will know how your car feels & handles, and have a better grasp of whether to maintain same rim size or to upsize / downsize.

Another thing to point out, NAZA's customer service isn't really the best when it comes to warranty claims. Learnt this though experience of owning the older 2005 Kia Optima. They will to their very best to make your claims void, so don't be surprised they don't replace your suspension (if it kopak) or any other parts related if they use changing rims to aftermarket as an excuse. Furthermore, their service bills are really expensive. Hyundai can offer prices cheaper by 50% for the same parts & labour, so better to upgrade / change stuff that your car doesn't have or already experienced full wear & tear.

understood, and im well aware of the disadvantages getting korean car in m'sia, ie after sales support, service, low trade in..

but if im really concern abt this, i wudnt have bought a kia, instead...wat really attracts me is the appeal, value for money..nevertheless, im thankful for ur advice, and frankly, my odds of changing it is like 30%, coz i know abt the trade in price those shops offer...

i used to won 4 sets of conti tyres from smiles mobil competition....sportsctc3 16" if im not wrong..too bad cant fit my civic, i wudnt have traded it...they offer me like 100/pc...for brand new tyre.. mad.gif
