If you want purchase a brand new bottle, the only way to get it online is through saksfifthavenue.. But you must use forwarder since they can't shipped it to malaysia.. Other alternative is via forum, i see lotsa people selling Champaca for cheap (not getting enough love from others tom ford).. And Champaca is easy to get by the way..

Other alternative is via eBay..

sickboy:guerlain counter, unless you are looking for their higher-end like tonka imperiale,

on a side note, l'artisan is having a 70% sale on their web, do check it out,

tea for two is only euro32 not inclusive of shipping..

i've already got Sean John's Unforgivable and Hugo Boss Soul currently.

I'm looking for a third bottle now, something suitable for casual sunday afternoon yumchar and maybe the office.

I find both the Soul and Unforgivable a tad unsuitable for office use, they're much too dress-like. Hence they're very underused.

Considering CH 212, or the "staple" Polo Sport. Also considering Cool Water, while Bvlgari Black looks an interesting addition too.

You should try D&G Pour Homme, Gucci Pour Homme II, YSL Live Jazz, YSL Rive Gauche, Platinum Egoiste, etc.
Bvlgari Black does have interesting scent, but the projection is weak.

Wow ! Don't think you need so many do you?

Well I don't think it's the perfect timing for the scents you are hunting for, every designer is introducing summer scents now. You should have save your money and wait a lil longer, maybe you could find a scent you liked on the following months.

Several 2011 summer scents are Davidoff Cool Water Summer Dive, Armani Code Sport, CK One 2011 Summer

Yes I do, to complete frags that I wanted on the shelf. Better to buy all at once rather than one by one. It is, but i'm not really keen on latest scents. smile.gif

I don't encourage buying so many at once but maybe you got the bucks haha.

I think it's like choosing fresh apples in the market, you got to know how to choose the right apple out of so many others combining unfresh, rotten, not so sweet apples.

Comme De Garcons is a designer frags? There's a lot of niche frags that you tested, some of them I never heard of it before.
Thanks for the feedback, Gucci Pour Homme II is the best. Though lack of projection. How about other suggestion, besides these two?
Which of course, the one that projects well, not close to skin fragrance.

thanks for the suggestion bugb34r!

Stuffi you're right, but let me tell you why. I'm actually clearing my credit card points heh...

hence some of the options are those that i mentioned above. They've also got Burberry Beat, Salvatore Ferragamo, Paco 1 Million, Kenzo L'eau Par, amongst other.

They've also got CK Eternity, Man, DKNY frags, but these are probably too similar to what I already have.

hi bugbear,

good choice, depending on whats the nature of your office, generally in malaysia is acceptable, unless you literally bathe in it... well depends on how do you mean by hot weather? do you work outdoors often? if like 8-6pm you are in aircond most of the time, it make no different even you are wearing a winter frag, rule of thumb = spray less if you know you are going outdoor most of the time..
personally i wear like 6-8 shots regardless of the perfume, then if i find it really too cloying, lessen the dosage later on..

the longevity and projection works well on my skin, it generally last a whole day for me..even the projection as well,

if you find it too strong while you are testing, you can opt la nuit de le homme parfum version

like what they say, its a compliment getter,

as commented by jonny, in asian culture, its not a norm we compliment each other,
sometimes no matter how good we smell, people would not compliment it, as it might lead to misunderstanding

personally for me, and i didnt bs this up,

in my office i have like 3 malay ladies and 1 pinoy lady complimenting on this perfume...

1st malay lady finds it yummy..
2nd find it nice and sweet
3rd just like how the perfume evolves, her own word is gourmandish

pinoy lady loves it...even asked me what brand and have a hard time explaining the name to her..hence i told her in english translation

our french interns says la nuit de le homme loosely means "the night of the man" and it sexy translation, means the men is gonna get some tonight....

another tacky perfume name which is quite interesting is, musc ravegeur - frederic malle, you can google it, she told me it means something dirty...hehehe

if you like gourmandish perfume, you can look at chanel allure p.h or sensual too.. if you dont mind...

i had a stranger that asked me in a bus, whats the perfume i am using and she thinks it smells great..

however do go for fragrance sniffing first & try it on skin, as different scent will work on different skin types..

No, mostly I stay indoor. Except going out for breakfast and lunch. But over here in Penang, when it comes to hotter season - the heat was really unbearable. I'm afraid it will get really cloying. 6-8 shots? Wow. I don't dare to spray over 3 shots on my skin for sweet type fragrances. I get headache pretty easily. I think my choice goes for EDT rather EDP La Nuit.

Yes, I'm into gourmand frags aswell. How about Chanel Allure Homme Sport? Heard that based on reviews, it get creamy lemonade drydown. Sounds temptive. You were right, in our culture it's hard to get compliments from others. Even though it does smells good, people's only give a hard cold look. Didn't dare to speak up and ask.

Thanks for the response. I hope that you could focus on designer frags in your daily scent. At least for now. If you don't mind. smile.gif

lol, dont worry about getting too cloying, since they wont compliment about nice perfume, i doubt they would complain about getting slightly cloying too =P

Channel Allure Homme Sport is nice too.. well for me it doest last as what i expected.. but the dry down is nice..

hehe

Today's scent of the day is user posted image

Woody Woody Woody, dry down is slight vanilla-ish...

It smells like Thierry Mugler A-Men, but instead of sweet vanilla, imagine wood+vanilla...

i sprayed this early afternoon, now is 10:30pm still can get slight whiff of it..

I had interesting session today, there is a place in Singapore which they provide essential oils, perfumes that they made themselves.., home products and custom perfume if you are interested, they also have very nice perfume bottles as well,

the nice people there actually provide some information about perfumes, how its composed, sampling of some raw notes, and actual ambergris and also oud...

the jasmine that is produced raw doesnt smell anything like synthetic jasmine..

Well, worst thing can ever happen is they will start pinching their nose and running away. laugh.gif
I should be worried if it's too cloying because I can't stand myself either. Headache will seeps in soon after. sad.gif

Borneo 1834, how much does it cost you? Woody vanilla seems interesting note in there.

You're really lucky. Happen to get involved with interesting session. Hell, you should buy a bottle or two from that place. biggrin.gif

Surely they are, though only for 30 sec ads.

two on each side of chest, one on the neck(optional), two sides of fore-arm, two on wrist(optional) and two or one on shirt(near to the collar)..

Well i do own some of them, but sometimes i would ask politely for decants that those that i am really interested in, bear in mind those are quite pricey..and it would be best to judge after 2-3 wearings so that you can have a better idea on how the would mix with your body...

its best to find the type of salespeople who truely understand that selling perfume is not all about making a quick sale,

its always nice to find those that will offer free decants for you to test first, if you are uninterested in getting that perfume, its always nice to be back there and offer why you think it didnt fit your requirements, instead of pretending not seeing them..at least they wouldn't perceive you as a free-loader... LOL
if you are in western countries like in US, they would just offer it to you as its part of the marketing of a products, so you get bunch of "free-loaders" that would just goto H&M etc.. and collect samples and then rant them online..

anyway

My Scent of the day,

er.. Amouage's line...
does it worth the $$ for the ml vs longevity

anyway i've smelled Amourage Gold... quite frankly i dont find the bang for the buck for it, i can always loook for alternatives that is 200% cheaper than that..and it last quite the same..

and certain line is quite the "keling" or arabic feel, in which you can find the almost the same smell as those essential oil you will find in an arab street..

to an untrained nose, your $400 ultra niche perfume would smell just as the same as a $40 per 50ml essential perfume..

why not save the budget and find something more uniquely done..at least to an untrained nose, it smells something unique, weird, unable to relate to anything..

That's overwhelming. At least for myself. I won't mind if it's close to skin type scent. But if not, I wouldn't dare to spray that much. Maybe I will goes one on the chest, two on the neck, two on the forearm. Depends on which frags though.

As far as the people I've met, most SA in here are not really understand in selling frags. They will give you a cold look if you're test it and not buying the frags. Don't even bother to ask for free vials.

Heard this one before, how long does the soapy scent lingers? And what about the drydown?

I see. I hardly get into any higher end perfumes. I haven't smelled any others like Serge Lutens,

Tried Bvlgari Mon Jasmin Noir today.

I have to say it's superbbbbbbbbbbb! Smells delicate but you still could recognize the jasmin note lingering in the air !

So pleasant ! Longevity is above average though I expect more.
Sillage is just fine, not too loud so you won't offend anybody around.

It's a women perfume btw, however it can be considered unisex. Sadly it's largest bottle is 75ml EDP only.

I'm considering on this fragrance ! biggrin.gif

Bought a brand new YSL Live Jazz and stupidly left it in Canada. Also waiting for Creed Aventus to arrive.

Other than those two, I'm rotating Bleu de Chanel, Kistna from Body Shop and Terres d Hermes (deodorant though).

spray directly. I usually spray on my chests, neck and shirt.

shirt allows the scent to linger longer than from the skin.

Avoid excessive spray to shirt. It might damage the fabric itself. How close to skin? I say 1-2 inches away.

depends on individual liking.. some like to spray it near by creating a puddle of water, so when you wear your clothes on, you do not need to spray on your shirt too... some like to spray it far by creating a mist,

but its also depending on the nozzle of your perfume, like dior homme/ a-men, when press lightly it will squirt out puddle of water instead of creating a mist..

i spray 2 on chest, sometimes on the middle.. one/two on neck, both side of ear-lobe, both fore-arm and both inner wrist, and 2 shots to the clothes..

most importantly i guess, since you are spending a sum on the perfume, try not to be a scrooge and spray less..at least you get to enjoy it..bonus if ppl can smell and like it.

hmmm my Scent for tomorrow maybe:-

Dunhill - Edition
Thierry Mugler - A Men
Lalique - Ecre Noire
Versace - Dreamer
YSL - Live Jazz

Whichever get the most votes will be worn tomorrow.. LOL

Beloit, Wis. – In an effort to offer shoppers a nasal palate cleanser (and presumably, to sell more fragrances), department store perfume counters have long been topped with small jars of coffee beans. As it turns out, they shouldn’t be. New research published by a Beloit College* professor and two of her students suggests that the beans are no more useful than sniffing the air when it comes to clearing the nose.

What do you guys think about this. Does coffee beans still relevant to "reset" our nose? hmm.gif

Hey buddy

For Annick Duel it's not that projecting scent, so i wouldn't mind to do 3 or 4 spray.. 1 on chest, 1 on base of the neck & 1 on the back of the neck. +1 on top of the hand (just to smell how the fragrance evolve overtime)..

For distance of spraying, it's up to you.. Far the sprayer, it would create a mist and it cover a lots of space. If you own Creed fragrance, the sprayer shooting death cloud, i would suggest you spray it around 2-3 inch from you..

Usually for darker color fragrance, i will avoid to spray it on the shirt especially white tee. Last time i accidentally spray my Serge Lutens Sarrasins on my shirt, and it stains badly..

For oil you just rub it in, should be no problem.. It's a oil form, very linear kinda stuff.. And it meant to be rub anyways lol..

Hope it helps..

No probs buddy..

Annick quite a good house and not that expensive as well.. But i hardly try their offering, just a few i did try.. Between those 3 i probably like Myrrhe Ardente, layer it with some vanille fragrance, and it become more lovely.. But you should try it on your skin and see how it develops..

Creed not my favorite as well, just not worth a price for a very low projection and silage, except a few of them..

I think that burberry touch and armani code smells almost the same. Currently i'm considering buying sean john unforgiveable,DnG light blue or chanel egoiste.

Can any of you guys suggest other cologne that doesn;t smells like any of the one that I currently have? planning to smells some of them this weekend before buying.

Then you need some of the "mature" scent.

YSL rive gauche, Gucci Pour Homme, Dior Homme, Aramis, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, Kouros, et cetera.

Thanks for your reply.

Does the above suitable for our warm climate and office use?

Read some reviews about rive gauche and most people says that it smells like brut...
Gucci pour homme got some nice reviews, might try it out together with dior homme.
Which aramis would you recommend?

As for tom ford, not sure if they have it in parkson alamanda, i'm avoiding city center this weekend..

Gucci pour homme got some nice reviews, might try it out together with dior homme.
Which aramis would you recommend?

As for tom ford, not sure if they have it in parkson alamanda, i'm avoiding city center this weekend..
*
Warm climate is ok, but i'm not sure under bright sunny day. Better have a sample, and be easy with the trigger for the first time spray. For office use, it certainly do the job. As for Aramis, Havana is a best choice.

Most people get barber-shop / shaving cream feel from YSL Rive Gauche. Give it a try over the counter, who knows you might like it.

I currently have burberry touch,armani code,l'eau d'issey,escada sentiment,lacoste essential,paco 1million,eternity,ck one and terre de hermes.

I'm looking for something that suits my age(37).
*
i am familiar with all in your collection as well as your proposed frags...

of the list i'd say chanel egoiste will fit the bill most as it is a rose floral that just ooozes class and machimo... perfect for dress up and evening use...
id also consider Guerlain Heritage for something that smells totally different from egoiste but is equally capable to serve those functions...
both these orientals are a genre that is missing in your current stable...if you not familiar with this sort and it MAY give you a vibe of "old man" when u first sniff...

the burberry that you should be investigating is burberry london... which is the most intersting of the house... plus, you gotta dig the gingerbread note... great for x-mas parties innit...

avoid the unforgivable and light blue... generic frags which smell like every other guy...

I totally agree with you on light blue and unforgiveable, they smells like most of the cologne that I have smell before. Went to test them out yesterday. I was looking for gucci pour homme but they didn't have it, so I tried gucci puor homme 2 instead and totally love it. It's very different then what I already have. I also tried the new gucci guilty, hate that one too..

I read some review about versace dreamer on the net and decide to blind buy it, but when i saw the picture, i remember that i have seen that bottle before and decide to dig my closet, sure enough there it was, still half full. It doesn't say versace dreamer on the bottle(50ml) but it was printed at the bottom. Bought it 5 years ago and I hate the smell, after sampling it again last night, i remember why i hate it.. still do 5 years later... sad.gif

I will try out guerlain Heritage and aramis havana, maybe next week, Thanks smile.gif

Versace Dreamer is a modern day classic... the opening "gunpowder" note may put you (and many others off immediately) but wait half hour later and sniff your wrists again...sray your pillow before a night out then come back and sniff... the dry down is to die for!

Gucci Pour Homme (1) is far superior to Gucci Pour Homme 2... (1) reminds me of pencil shavings and temple incense.. a glorious oriental... and its rather hard to come by these days...

(2) to me just like a citrus base that smells too a bit too conservative...

go crazy and smell more! smile.gif

Those 2 places have a good variety of frags to try. But Parkson Pavilion has a bit more variety compared to Parkson 1U. Parkson KLCC not bad too.

Paco 1 million - too sewwt n synthetic...i doubt it would work in hot weather.

Coolwater - good classic but too common nowadays. low longevity.

F by Feragomo - smells like a watered down Terre d'Hermes to me. but still an alright frag. i wish the sillage n longevity were better tho.

are you into the perfume itself or just to have nice promotional bags?

if you are planning a trip to singapore, dollar and scents sometimes have those bags, comestics bags that they sell individually..

hmm its hard to define nice as different ppl will have different taste,

if you want safe and generic, i think there will be quite a few to sample it from..

there is a newly launched fragrance called clean.

the idea is a really clean smell, i.e smells like freshly washed clothes or just come out from a shower..

My GPH finally arrived today, and yes, my wife says that it smelled like indian temple incense hehe, I just love it but I like GPH II a little bit more. This is what love most about fragrance, it's just different to everyone smile.gif
Got a sample for gucci egoiste too.

GPH - strong starter but have a rather playful note to it when it dries down.
GPH II - dead serious, really good for office or evening use.
egoiste - smells like car perfume, or car with old leather seats hehe. Gonna try it abit more and see if i can grow to like it.

my lists of fragrance to check out :

ysl rive gauche - thinking of blind buying if i can't find one to sample.
Aramis Havana
ysl la nuit
A*Men
Chanel pour monsieur
guerlain Heritage
Cartier declaration
Dior fahrenheit
Dior pour homme
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
Theirry mugler pure havane
chanel allure homme
prada amber

Added on July 14, 2011, 9:59 pmAnyone noticed that if you go to parkson fragrance area, they all smells the same. Is it their air freshener or is it because all those fragrance just combined together to create that smell?
Or maybe it's just me? hehe
Noticed that small fragrance shops doesn't have that kind of smell.

its eau de toilette , not toliette.
a french guy told me , it is called 'toilet water' because back in the days where the majority of people still live in poverty , clean water is hard to find , thus the people would not take a shower but use the eau de toilette instead smile.gif

i've seen ppl guys using girls perfume and vice versa...unless you plan to tell the whole world you are using a pour femme and be a joker for 5minutes

i dont see any problem in it..

some of the modern traits of some floral feminine in guy's perfume.. i.e kenzo power..

personally i've tried a few feminine perfume and it works just great =P

Supposedly, my first choice was to buy Bvlgari Black. But knowing that it has close to skin type of frags, I rather splurge my money on Dreamer. Don't be worry, I won't get fool by the opening notes. happy.gif

One of the perfume that I've order has just arrived. Will reveal it tonight. Test over Dior Fahrenheit and Dior Homme Sport over the counter just now.

Did a comparison test between these two among with my friends. Both guys and girls pick over Dior Homme Sport. Maybe it was the smooth ginger drydown that attracted them.

hmm.gif

Hell, i'll stick to Fahrenheit anytime. biggrin.gif

I have a bottle of Dior Homme Sport and I find it pretty hard to wear. smells too much like dishwashing soap. the ginger is alright but the artificial lemon note really puts me off.

It's not that close to skin as some of the reviews describe it to be. IMHO it has pretty ok sillage and decent longevity.

That's exactly what I get on top notes. But as it drydown, it get smoother and more wearable. Safe frags, but did not impress me that much. (girls at my place love it though)

biggrin.gif

I can't get enough sniffing at Fahrenheit on my wrist right now. Just superb.

Guess you're lucky it suit with your skin type. I will drop by over the counter and test it next time. smile.gif

Just for info...

For those who are looking for Pure Havane - Thierry Mugler, do check at mugler counter, SOGO. The salesgirl said, she only have about less than 10 boxes left.

Bought mine already.... rclxms.gif

Sadly, no deo stick for PH. Instead I bought A*Men stick.

You should. It smells like a warm cup of black tea. Really smooth. But be aware about it's sileage. It doesn't project well on most skin.

There are plenty. Rochas Man, Body Kouros, Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin, Dior Intense, Platinum Egoiste, YSL M7, Paco Rabanne Black XS, and the list goes on.

Between two that you're mention of, I go for Bvlgari Aqva.

How many spray should I go for Fahrenheit? Apply on my skin today, doesn't really stand out. One of each arm, one on the neck.

Is it normal? Especially in office environment.

Hard to get locally. I manage to get at Munich airport at discount. Very nice and classy.

bro bear, it depends on your liking...

for me i would go 2 on chest, one on neck, two on side ear lobe or wrist, then one of shirt.. =P

but for me, sometimes my skin seems to eat up the perfume.. or get masked by ciggy smoke.. =P

so maybe for you, more is less

No wonder. Now I understood why sometimes you spray a bit much. Just now the office environment seems like eating up the scent. I'm no longer smell it. sad.gif
Is it true that Fahrenheit need certain body heat to project well?

Fahrenheit has been reformulated a few times so that's y the reviews u read don't match up with the actual frag. Some of the reviewers own the original version which has good sillage. That being said Fahrenheit is still one bloody unique smelling frag. wear it and u will instantly stand out.

This is true. Sitting down in the office, with full blast of air-cond mute this scent totally.

So it is a rather sensitive-to-climate perfume. biggrin.gif

I just got myself an Azzaro Chrome. I've been searching for something clean, like CK one. But i dun really like ck one that much coz it's a bit fruity for me. So went to test some cologne yesterday and told the salesgirl that I want something clean. Not to aquatic, not to citrussy, not to fresh, i dun really know how to describe it, just want something clean and unoffensive. So she said,"that's easy" and gave me and old skool perfume called chrome. At first sniff, it's like i got struck by lightning, it's unimpressive, not classy, not sophisticated what so ever and smells pretty generic, it's just clean and this is what i've been looking for. It's either u love it or hate it. In fact, it's similar to CK one, but for me, where cK one fails, Chrome succeeds. It's pretty good for what it is and it serves a purpose. What do u guys think? Oh, and I got it for RM120 for a 50ml which I think is ok.

some even says that testers are better
cos manufacture make the smell "stronger" or last longer
as to attract customers when giving sample (spray into your hand)

nope..thats never true actually...
thats just a marketing story only...created by those who sell/supply tester..
think logically, if its true..a lot of customer will complain la..bcos after buy pfume no good..not last long as tested..
go ask the sale person at the counter..the senior one la..they'll laugh at the "myth"

tester got same ingredient..but cheaper packaging only..

Yeap, agreed.

They never could have things like tester's better than the original perfume for promoting purposes.

Issey L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme is a fresh citrus fragrance. Not bad but can be a bit sharp and overpowering if over applied. Good projection so be careful not to offend people.

When i was younger, i was really into fresh fragrances. I never liked sweet, woodsy or vanilla frags. But as i grew older( not really old actually, just about to reach 30) I'm starting to crave for something different. Like something more mature, sweet, woodsy but more importantly, I started to like vanilla, like really love it. Just can't get enough of it wub.gif Is that normal for a guy my age or I'm turning gay? sweat.gif

its normal that the curiosity of our noses will defer from something that we are used to..
last time i cant really stand vanillaish scent, but now i am okay with it..

last time i hated patchouli scent, now i just love it,the earthy scent =P

Straight coconut and lime mixed:

- Creed Virgin Island Water

Other cheapy alternative:

- Bath & Body Work Coconut Lime Verbena

BTW Diptyque Philosykos didn't have any coconut, it more fig based frag.. Fig and coconut do smell a like, but different..

Virgin island water smells like some Caribbean mocktails to me wherelse diptyque smells more coconut ,

for untrained noses, fig and coconut do share the same accords..

quite expensive for a 50ml sweat.gif so it's not recommended to blind buy it? Anyone in here can share their opinion on Terre D'Hermes?

I suggest you test it by yourself over the counter.

whats the shelf life for an opened and unopened fragrance?
Does a MFG date of the frag affects a lot?

On the bottle or box they have logo like tuna can with number on it, like 12M, 24M & 36M inside it.. That indicate the official life span of the product.. The "M" stand for month, for the picture below it says 36M meaning the official life span is 3 years from manufacture..

user posted image

But usually fragrance will last for a very long time if you store it properly. Example inside wine cooler, original box, dark & cold place without light..

If the fragrance is very old like 5 year ++, maybe the top note might change a bit..

And avoid places like bathroom, inside car compartment and other places that have direct light and heat, it will ruins your fragrance quickly.

Hope it help..

bro, i see u got terre d'hermes there...can u explain how it smells like?
*
the scent is a love it or hate it kinda thing, some people will find it obnoxious or loud in a way..

the sillage is def there, its unique in a way that, once you smell it, you will recognize it straight without a doubt.

from my untrained nose point of view, it smells like dried up orange .. its like dark orange-y on the top notes, or kinda like iso-e super smell.. vetvier ..
mid and dry down is like woody with orangy..kinda like you take a wooden plank, whack it onto bunch of oranges and then smell it with half dry juice on the wood...

the perfume last at least 8-12hours, for ppl that resent the smell of this would def. have a headache over it.. i would really recommend light appliance on it as ppl sitting next to you would def. smell it clearly

if you like the mid/base notes of this perfume but dont really like the top, i would recommend you try out guerlain l'eau pour homme.. they somehow resembles to each other in a way...

I tested L'instant de Guerlain just now. I don't know what notes are there in that thing but here's what I think to my untrained nose. Upon application, the first thing that I noticed was a burst of citrus but not that kinda fresh citrussy smell, this one is quite bitter smelling. It's like sour lemon and orange or something. After that, It smells like some kinda herbs and spices that my mum use to cook, I can't recall what it is but I'm sure it's some sort of spice or herb. Then, I smell something familiar and I think it's jasmine, it's not very strong but i know it's there somewhere. And the drydown to me smells like the chi kit teck aun pills , u know that small black round thing people use to treat diarrhea, and also some woody stuff. It's an interesting, dark and elegant cologne. It's not really bad but I don't think I can pull this of. In fact, I can't imagine myself wearing this. Definitely for people over 30 or 40 only.

Nice description of the Terre D'Hermes. I'm worried I've been using it too much though, it doesn't smell as strong as it used to (probably my nose getting accustomed to the smell) and I have to take care not to overcompensate by splashing more on

Kouros - YSL
Armani - Giorgio Armani

otherwise Acqua di Parma is a must have biggrin.gif especially when the weather is hot like here in MY, very refreshing.

I usually wear a different perfume during the day and at night. Bleu de Chanel is very nice as a 'night perfume' smile.gif

AdP is a hit or a miss.. its nice, barbershop feel, but i find it not very long lasting although the sillage is awsome..
some ppl find its abit like a indian/keling scent..

for alternatives, maybe you could try ted lapduis p.h or if you like fresh lemony scent, you can choose boucheron pour homme..

thanks,

its called ol nose fatigue.. your nose had grew accustomed to the scent
instead of spraying it only with one scent, you can rotate them .. nothing wrong with overspraying with a few more shots, we are more tolerant with cologne scent than sweaty body odor scent..haha

body kouros = sweet vanilla

which gucci p.h?.

gucci = pencil woody..

gucci by gucci pour homme? = citrusy, tabaccoish

its like comparing wira 1.3 and satria 1.3.. =P

i prefer body kouros for a night out, dinner, dates, chilling

gucci p.h for semi-formal occasion/dates,

gucci by gucci, elegant, but very short lived.

My SOTD

Terre De Hermes

unless you are going for a formal interview,or your working environment prohibit you to(i.e F&B,etc) i think we asians are quite tolerant towards over-dose in perfumery.. unless you are in another part of the world known as usa..then you might end up recieving legal matters

err.. not sure about anyone and creed hype..i've find that creed's perfume is quite pricey and not sure if they are bang for the buck..i have a few creed official testing vials.. and i find them quite normal.. i was actually looking forward to sniff the official "aventus" but not sure how it will turn outs...

if given the same amount of budget i have, i maybe looking at montale or andy tauer..

Millesime Imperial is decent, IMO it more better than Green Irish Tweed. But both of them is not on my top list for the Creed house, i found it quite boring..

Terre d'Hermes (TdH) contain a lots of iso e super, if not mistaken TdH contains around 55% of that intensifier.. So it will make someone that not use to the compound feel slight headache and skin rashes.. It's common if someone having a headache on certain fragrance or can't stand the smell..

hello bro

mustafa, lucky plaza,chinatown,jasina.. is as good as they goes,
main reason why they are discounted is primary because they do parallel imports..
another reason is because they sell perfume that is considered as ex stock by primary disti like l#xasia..you will be suprise some perfume still has the disti/expiry stickers on it..

i suggest to do your homework first before shopping there, i.e test in retail first, before getting there..

and try to ignore brands like chanel and dior as the price is not much difference comparing to retail.. because chanel and all holds their price too tight, if its too cheap, there must be something wrong in it..

example

recently launched, boss different, its all over lucky plaza, and it smells and last just like in retail, pricing wise is 30 percent cheaper..has the same disti sticker and wrapping is all the same..and unopened.

i wouldnt suggest the same in petaling street and pasar malam in singapore or online shopping i.e ebay..

as i think big retailers in lucky plaza and mustafa cant afford to deal with the law if they are caught with counterfeiting goods in singapore..

yaa..too bad for those who has no knowledge to distinguish between the ori and the fake..bcos they are so alike..
gotta check the wrapping, weight of the cap, the bottle finishing quality, the wording/sentence they use..phew..only easier if u have the ori one to compare.

no wonder many of my customer regret buying from there..
i assume its true about the mixing - maybe 1st row at the display is ori, 2nd row not ori and so on..

the chances of getting fakes online is even higher and you may have no one to take into accountable as comparing to mustafa and bigger retails in lucky plaza...

it doesnt make sense to have first row ori, 2nd row not ori... i am not protecting their branding but i am not sure where your cust. is getting it at.

we are talking about singapore le.. this is like place of no.1 complain king in the SEA reigon.. and once you are proven of something, the news here doesnt protect you, it will show your shop, your name, your picture..

The new one works well on my skin. The longevity is great, just lack of projection. As Fahrenheit needs intense body heat to project well.

the reformulation differences is primary the top opening "gasoline" smell that everyone find it annoying..apart from that, not much difference...

YSL reformulation differences is the agarwood scent..and the musky civet-y smell

Frederic malle musc raveguer reformulation is also the civet-y smell..

PErsonally I find NR very powdery and a bit hard to wear in hot weather.

It's sweet although not too sweet, pretty strong and very long lasting. Sorry I don't know the other terms, i'm quite a noob lol.

I was sweating yesterday and normally my perfume would be gone by evening, but i could still smell it. if you're bringing it in you let me know. this one seems like a keeper.

Do you have pure havane?

I see. I have Polo Blue (first perfume I ever bought), YSL L'Homme, and Lacoste Essential in rotation. Thinking of my next purchase before one of them runs out. Blue for any occasion, Essential for a laid back vibe, and L'Homme for dates or more serious occasions.

Considering Black as heard a lot of men getting compliments because of it or Aqua as I find it to be quite a classy scent.

Top notes are fruity, slightly sweet, and woody after a couple of hours. I can say that it smells fresh and "green". For me, I wear it for the relaxed vibe it gives me.

In the Pure Havane opening you can smell the Tobacco with honey, not harsh like Tobacco Vanille way.. If you did smell Hermes Ambre Narguile, the top note is quite similar for the few minutes.. Where the Ambre Narguile use Benzoin which smells like Tobacco..

The dry-down on Pure Havane is lovely, you definitely got the cocoa in there.. If you like the cocoa based frag like L'Instant Extreme or Dior Homme Intense, you probably like Pure Havane..

It's just an OK scent to me..

its really nice from the opening to the drydown, although its a tobacco based perfume,i dont really smell tobacco, all i get is realy smooth vanilla with honey, and dark chocolate, gotta try it again tmr to detect the tobacco leaf.i really like the drydown, its really good.too bad i dont have the chance to try pure malt though.i bought it for rm245
Attached Image
cant help but to shoot it

i tried the original A*men too,whoa....the opening is so....smack me in the face.perhaps i will try it again some other time
i tried the new hugo perfume as well at the counter, hugo 'just different' to me its 'not much different' from the other existing ones, and the longevity sucks, only 3 hours.for those with cash to burn,i highly recommend it.

so what do u think of Bvlgari Black and the Gucci Pour Homme II?
*
gucci ph II is rather smooth and pleasing, but it stays quite close to the skin...

bulgari black in the other end is a fragrance which i think not so ppl pleasing bcuz of the so called "rubber" smell and some ppl might hate it (due to my social life where seldom of my friends wear fragrance), but i definitely love it and who cares... tongue.gif

Gucci Pour Homme II is awesome right? Never had chance to try Bvlgari Black yet. sad.gif

yea man it is indeed awesome!!! rclxm9.gif only drawback is that it does not project... doh.gif i think u should find a chance to try bulgari black, i bet u will love its uniqueness... laugh.gif

Anyone can suggest a good cologne to wear in the morning of hari raya? U know, in baju melayu, family gathering and stuff. I'm thinking of burberry london, l'instant de guerlain or D&G the one. Any better ideas?

If you read back, yeah....I am the one who inform about PH at SOGO.

Me too having trouble to spray from the rubbery flask on both A*Men and PH. Hmm....looks like we need to cut the rubber on top of the atomizer.

Not actually the same but.....can be categorized in the same group if you know what I mean. Both are good to wear but PH definitely has more projection + longevity. AM has the longevity and safe to wear in the office.

P/S : Are you Hasri? I am one of your customer. Bought from you the A*men set and two Lolita Lempicka (Lolita Lempicka and Fleur Defendue) at Shah Alam. Anyway...Selamat Berpuasa and Selamat Hari Raya........... rclxms.gif

just curious, how long does pure havane last on you guys?
i thought it should have good longevity, but for me,it lasted for about 4 hours only and then its really close to skin already.
i sprayed 1 time on the neck,1 on the chest and 1 on the wrist.is that normal?

For me, I never practise spray it on my skin. I always spray it on my cloth. 3 - 5 spray max. 2 on both shoulders or 1 in the chest and 2 on both arms. No problem on PH. It could last me at least 8 hours.

and longevity also standard 5-6 hours..after that just close to the skin..like any other perfume la.

I follow the basic principle of having 3 fragrances as my signature. My favorite is Lacoste Essential, Polo Blue was my first and YSL L'Homme for important engagements or special occasions. I'm thinking of giving the Polo Blue one to my brother and adapt another fragrance as my signature to perhaps, to add a bit of variety. Currently considering between Bvlgari Aqva or Kenzo's L'eau Par. Any thoughts guys?

btw,

Wazzap, how long til the next pre-order?

I think the general consensus is that though aqua di gio and ck one are decent frags, they're a bit too common if you're thinking of being a bit more original. Correct me if I'm wrong though. hmm.gif

I am using Dior Fahrenheit and Shaikh Al Arab (A Dubai EDP), which happen to smell close to Fahrenheit without the opening.

Frags I love:
Dior Fahrenheit
Drakkar Noir
Ferragamo Subtil
Burberry (the red box)
Paco Rabanne (green Bottle)
A*Man by Thierry Mugler
Polo Blue

Anyone here tried Ajmal before? saw the boutique at Pavilion KL, looks really grand.

Acqua di gio is one of the best seller
IMHO, the perfume is just okay for me. no wow factor.
I don't like the top notes, smelled like too much lemon
weak projection and longevity.

I wonder why so many ppl like this one.
should i say overhype and overprice too?
well it depends on personal taste, definitely not one of my fav
my advice if u want to buy this
please smell it yourself

ok time for some promotion update.i bumped into a quite good deal in my opinion.only available at borders, yes the bookstore.
get the latest augustman september issue, which is their anniversary issue, and you will get an exclusive box,the magazine,a moleskin diary(quite expensive),and also......a 75ml Dior Aqua Fahrenheit.....only for rm148.if you guys are interested with aqua fahrenheit, get it while stock last.
my question is,how does dior fahrenheit smells like?i only know a bottle of it is selling at about rm195 for 75ml.so if its good,i think its a good deal right?
as previously a member inform us here bout the pure havane,i guess its my turn to inform you guys what i saw.hope it helps

Aqua Fahrenheit is claimed to be a fresher version of Fahrenheit, but nothing beats Fahrenheit. Well, its all up to personal preferences. Like for me, one of the frags that I like is Drakkar Noir, but was surprised that nobody talked about it in v2.

Its better that you go and try it on counter first, if it suits you and you like it, then go ahead.

RM148 for those is really good deal man.. thumbup.gif

but just a little curious here, will Dior allow such promotion? 1st, its too cheap, and 2nd, Dior frags are controlled items. hmm.gif

i asked my friend who is in the magazine.he said its because it's the magazine grand anniversary edition.and the magazine had an advertisement deal with dior for few months continuosly.so for dior to give out,say 100 bottle(should be more),it only cost them rm2000 the most(for full price,it shoud be cheaper since its direct from dior),so its much cheaper for dior to give out this way instead of paying for the monthly ads.and perhaps aqua fahrenheit isnt selling as good as fahrenheit,so perhaps its a good deal for dior too.i am sure in this issue of augustman,it will be a lot of dior ads in it.

Royal Oud open up with blast of spices, incense and dry woods, it's quite aromatic.

Later develops more into woody fragrance with the incense still there and you got the oud. Much more wearable oud fragrance and suitable for those who don't like an intense oud. I get good longevity with this one, same level with Aventus. 12+ hours on me.

Colonia just a traditional EDC. The citrus smell like a barbershop and dated feel.

Err.. It says it's the first official counter in Asia.
Maybe those you tested in Singapore were imported by perfumery shop retailers themselves.

Wow I couldn't believe Burberry delivered my Burberry Body sample to my doorstep ! I thought it's not available in Malaysia ! That's cool.

In my opinion, it was a waste that it doesn't project that much. It resembles a tender, elegant and feminine lady. Just as graceful as a swan. The peach note is identical. It starts off flowery and powdery but soon enters the middle notes, very quickly.

Still don't know how long it last yet. Not a very special fragrance but can compete with Chloe EDP.

This just came in the mail today. F By Ferragamo Black.
user posted image

First impression:

This is really a Black scent. Very warm, masculine, sensual and classy. Truly a fragrance for evening or formal function. Smelling this projects a mental image of a matured professional, confident and romantic. Projection is medium as it is not too attention grabbing or loud. But when in the scent range definitely detectable.

Notes: Lavender, tonka beans, pepper, labdanum.
Not suitable for: People who are looking for fresh and young scents. After all this is a black scent.

Yes you should. Perfume consists of three level. Top, middle and base. Don't judge the perfume by the top note. (though in this case, i can see why you hate it. Kouros really not for everyone.)

Always try before you buy. Test it over the counter, walk around a few hours and smell it back. As for me, I don't buy miniatures as it's not worth for money. Though great for travellers.

i just get a dior homme sport tester unit from a seller,
dont know it was authentic or not

i try dior homme sport quite long time already,
so i am not sure about the smells, but i think the smell is the same,
longevity is about 4 hours, after 4 hours i can barely smell anything

what bother me is,
the nozzle of this dior is very light, u press a little bit only,
the perfume start to "leak out" a bit..

this is very different from all my other collection,
can anybody pls advise me

lol seriously?
but u gotta point there, certain brands they do have the unisex frag.
but mostly, women frag r EDP (stronger than EDT)
then from the bottle or packaging we cn differentiate the frag.
then of course the smell too.

im not a pro but what i can say is the frag did change when u sweat. (based on my experience)
r u a smoker? if u r, then u hv to consider it too.
that's y it's important to go to the counter n try it urself. we here can only recommend
which frag, but u urself need to try and decide which frag suit u more.
n not to forget, certain frags they also smell difference during day or evening.

You would have to raise your budget to get a decent designer's perfume on the counter.
unless you opt for 30ml, 50ml or miniature.

Fragrance do get affected by sweat. In your case, I would say go for citrus/fresh aquatics. These fragrances have sharp and frosty notes that will mask your sweat. Avoid musky, woody. earthy scents as they might turn bad with sweat.

For your case, try Aqua Di Gio , L'eau D'Issey, and other summer/aquatic scents.

You know some people have the mindset that men perfume should smell extremely ''manly''. or in other words, when you go up to someone, it chokes your lungs. A good perfume should be strong to cover body odour but also suttle. a few good brands are Hugo, Ted Lapidus (black soul), million dollar man.

Been to Langkawi last couple of month, to be honest the price is the same. (For me of course LoL)

Price point in term if you usually visit/shopping in "Duty Free Store" where in JB have one, other state i'm not sure. Just a few ringgit different than retails store..

Place i can recommend is at "Pekan Kuah", they have 2 or 3 discounter store there, price is a bit cheaper than "Duty Free Store" in the Langkawi Jetty & Mall (Near Underwater World)..

Hope it helps you on your hunt..

Acqua d Gio certainly not my fav. overhyped & overpriced.
but it depends on ppl actually, so the best way is to try it urself.
don't just based on other ppl reviews smile.gif

u can try Dunhill Desire Blue, Davidoff Cool Water, then
lot of CK frags have fresh and clean scent ( ex: Euphoria & Truth)
suit urself

Better try before buy, as CK are famous for lack of longevity.

IMO, most of the CK frags are fresh, mild n clean.. but the downside
is lack of longevity

I received my perfume weekly from all over the world, none of them stuck in custom except if the sender declared it with stupid name or wrote the description not so clear. But if they do got stuck, don't worry because they (custom) will sent you a letter letting you know the item is already in their possession and ask you to come down to the office to verify the item. Perfume don't have any tax (from my past years experience), so don't worry about paying them.

If you can communicate directly to your sender/friends in US, just let him know to declared it as used cosmetic/cosmetic sample/used toiletries etc.. And on the safe side ask him to declared value below $30 & gift option.. But the declaration is no problem because i did received a perfume value more than $500 in a single box with no problem or duty..

Happy hunting...

Tested Thierry Mugler Pure Havane the other day and I have to say OMG ... such a strong and sweet perfume. I am a fan of sweet perfume but NOT that sweet. Tobacco, honey and vanilla ... makes me feel like i am drenched in honey and feel like running to the shower.

Put the tester paper strip in my pocket and after a whole day of friction, I took it out and sniff the dry down. The dry down is really nice, when it is no longer so overpowering.

Needs experience and skill to apply, if you can pull it off.

you could try your luck at perfume shops like justparfum but you can also get it thru ebay or through basenotes.

dont listen to the "the vintage is much better" hype. its gonna dig into you and stop you from enjoying scents as it is.

depends on your taste and liking, some ppl do dig the after reformulation,

we shall take into example of Dior Homme,

why do some ppl make a big fuss out of it?

given an example that you had tasted real shark fin and you r lovin it..then all of sudden you find they have replaced with vege shark fin
and denied that they had made any swap and everything is as authentic as it is and the cost per bowl shark fin is the same, would you be pissed off?
alot of ppl would not know the true difference between vege shark fin and real shark fin..as some had started to eat vege shark fin to begin with..

my latest dior homme haul before all hyped out, i was at the duty free, saw the ala famous , silver stem tester, its a brand new one..as far as i can tell from the juice level and bottle texture.. so i brought it thinking it was the silver stem, went for my trip, went home.. open it up to find its the black stem, i did a comparison between both two..

for untrained nose, it may smell the same, but to me, because i have both side by side.. pre and post.. i find the black stem, to have lesser lip stink notes, sweeter, in terms of sillage is much lesser as compared to the vintage one.. longevity, the black stem is a hit or miss, means sometimes its great, sometimes its not, works better in cooler enviroment(air cond)
