deep bass , comfortable and stylish I can say..Try it at lowyat and compare it with ath-500 and ath-200 .bass and clarity pro5mk2 win but I didnt manage to try pro5 or pro5v coz dont have demo unit. biggrin.gif

this unit replacement to pro5 and pro5v or improvement from both headphone? need to get an amp to maximise the speaker potential biggrin.gif

if you want to maximize any headphones especially on the bass department, you will definitely need an amp.

as for the pro5/pro5v, akabane said the pro5 mk2 is replacing the previous pro5/pro5v

Hi guys, I recently decided to change the earpads on my Ath-A700. Been using it for almost 2 years now and I still love it, too bad nothing is left of the earpads now except for the black fabric like material, the inside yellow sponge also like coming out d.

So I decided to go for the W5000 after much consideration with my friends (lol, non of them are audiophiles tho).

So, just wanna ask you guys here, is it worth it for the leap of RM100 difference between a1000 replacement earpads and w5000 replacement earpads? (according to bluetin price)

And hor, much of the reviews i read online is about replacing AD900 with w5000 earpads, can w5000 earpads fit a700 cans ah?

lastly, anyone got any idea on the care needed for the earpads and the headphone? Its actually my 1st headphone (above rm100 at least), so i dun really know how to care for these stuff, and I dun wan it to spoil so soon, and I dun wan my new leather pads to tear so soon too.

imho, the w5000 would be a good choice. pure genuine leather comfort, and very solid puffy feel.

you probably have read my review(s) on the ad900 with the w5k pad i take it? well, the ad 900 *should* be very slightly bigger than the A900 (which the a700 should be about the same size too) counterpart.
if the w5k pads can fit the ad900, id reckon they should be able to fit the A700.

though as a disclaimer, don't take my word completely on it as i have never tried the w5k pads on the a700 (nor would i want/need too ^^wink.gif and i don't think i have found any online sites/forum (like headfi) mentioning a700 using w5k ear pads.

as for caring the earpads, from my site:
QUOTE
As you can see from a more updated picture of my setup, the ear pads are no longer being pressed against the metal crossroads headphone stand, in fact it looks like the foam it self are being pressed by ear pads instead. I’m not sure if it is exactly because the ear pads do cost quite a bit or what, one thing is certain is that i am really taking good care of it. Having dedicated micro fiber cloth to clean it, and even leather care liquid solutions to apply it every once in a while to maintain its pristine looks, feel and scent.

anyways.

some things that human beings can hardly (if not never?) change is that, they never realize how precious some things are to them until they lost it
in this case, it would be how much i missed my AD900 headphones. finally got the time around to listen to it. and its just a bliss ^^

Ya i read your review. Good review there bro.

My only concern is that after committing RM300, the pads dun fit sad.gif. And most of the google results speaks of AD900. Though I did read one or 2 comments bout ppl saying ATH's full size cans are more or less the same size, never anything other than a700 so I don't really know.

You lost your AD900? sold them?

edit: ahh saw your edit.

edit2: oh ya, how does it feel in malaysian weather? I heard leathers can be quite hot.

thanks for the compliments ^^

Majority of AT's full sized cans are indeed the same, if not similar sizes. More notably the mid/higher end models. the AD series are slightly bigger compared to the rest, however the w5k still fits it quite nicely, so i personally don't think there should be any worries. though your concern is no doubt understandable considering the price of the w5k pads.

my ad900 was sent for warranty repairs for around a month+, came back last weekend, only managed to listen to it this weekend ^^:

imho, regardless of materials, i would still sweat heavily, and with materials like velour (ad900 original earpads) it would be soaking up my sweat, making things worse than they are. with the leather earpads, this is completely solved. one thing to note is that majority of AT earphones are either faux leather or genuine leather (w5k, w2k2, l3k etc) so in that regards anyways, it should be great for just about anyone regardless of the weather.

another thing to take note is that, genuine leather would always be more durable, and more comfortable than faux leathers (A1k, w1kx ear pads are using faux leathers) hence the heft price behind them sad.gif

of course, having your listening environment air conditioned would bring the comfort level of leather products to even greater heights smile.gif

Hmm.. If changing the pad can tone down the brightness and forwardness of AD900's sound sig, I will be seriously considering it.
When are u guys coming to Penang, want to try out bro Quaza's phone la. biggrin.gif

Ath m50 should do u justice. But do state ur budget/what source u'll be playing with and what genre of music u mostly listen to. It'll be easier than just stating something general
