Ath m50 should do u justice. But do state ur budget/what source u'll be playing with and what genre of music u mostly listen to. It'll be easier than just stating something general

Dear pros,

Kindly recommend a headphone to me. Below are my criteria.
1) Budget around RM700
2) More suitable for Hi-Fi Songs
3) Not too bassy (don't quite like Solo HD)

I was considering M50 but i just saw someone commented that M50 is like Solo HD? hmm.gif

Pls advise. notworthy.gif

M50 is more of a dj/monitoring headphone. monitoring requires details for music reproduction/accuracy, and that also means you will need the bass.
i personally dont find it musical/fun, as its meant for accuracy.

the more towards dj/bass head type would be the pro700 mk2 tongue.gif

anyways based on your criteria, i would recommend either the A700/AD700, depending if you prefer closed or open can (and by open, audio technica's AD series are quite unique on the sound signature/staging)

and if you're going for the ad series instead, i would personally recommend you to top up your budget for the ad900 and an amp smile.gif
even popular audiophile site headfonia recommends the same, as the ad900 is pretty much the best bang for buck to enjoy the ad sound signature

do take note that the above are my recommendation/opinions, and as you may know it, in the world of audio/sound, that is very very subjective.

highly recommend that you can audition the headphone models before making a final decision. you may goto ss15 subang jaben to audit, assuming you live in KL area malaysia

I will soon own my first pair of professional headphones, the Audio Technica ATH-AD700. I'm just curious if I'm going to make a mistake by jumping from normal RM50 headphones to AD700. If anyone wants to stop me, this is the time to do so before its too late!

umm... no tongue.gif
buying the AD700 from eBay so have not tried it. I just suddenly got into the world of Audiophiles while just browsing through Skullcandys and Sennheisser HD201. I just thought that if I'm about to buy new headphones I better but SUPER ones lol and therefore I'm suddenly looking to buy headphones retailed at RM600+ from using normal RM50 ones.

If possible, i think it would be best for u to audit the headphones before u pull the trigger.
And if ur place is too far from Jaben and audition is out of question, perhaps u should read up more about sound signature for the headphones u are looking at now.

I can visit Jaben, but in a month from now as I am away from home. I'm just scared the discount for the AD700 will end soon thus the hassle. Maybe I should just think this through and wait for a month huh?

Haha... I understand that eager feeling of getting urself a new headphone, been there done that. >.<

But I still think it's better u audit the headphones before getting it. Plus it's ur very first audiophile phone, u will have to find the one u like the most aite.

Don't worry bout the discount because AD700 always selling cheap on ebay.

Just forget bout HD201 those, save ur $$ straight go for AD700.
It is good that u straight jump to AD700, u surely will be amazed by the quality and comfortability. Just go for it, trust me, u will not regret.
