Got a S64 2500+ 256kb cache last few days and finally had the time to assemble and test it.

Test BED:

Abit NF8 (stock) Flashed to BIOS 17
Sempron64 2500+ 256kb (default 1400mhz)
512mb KVR DT D43
Cheaplak GF2MX 200
Good Ole' Vtech 350w

Voltage @ Bios = 1.5v (It doesn't allow undervolting)

Currently letting it prime @ 2000mhz overnite, more results wil be up in a fewdays time.

Initial findings:

1. a 600mhz overclock from default it's definitely a good sign.
2. Probably, the NF8 isn't a proper board for pushing to the highest HTT.
Currently, from what i've read, highest is 320 HTT.
3. another 1700+/1800+ DLT3C craze? smile.gif
4. AFAIK, there are no databases for s64 2500+ OC result, so probably a
reference result here will be a good start. (Period)
There are results of s64 2800+ , doing around 2.5-2.6ghz. Probably this lower sibling will be able to hit as high as tat, provided if the mobo does high HTT.
5. IMO, should the CPU scales higher, the MOBO will be the limiting factor here and the DFI would be the best choice in exploiting the fullest of this cpu.
6. For those NF8 users with Enermax 431w, do take note, the combo isn't compatible. I can't get the Enermax to boot the NF8

My current HTT on NF8 is 331 with divider. Should be no prob hitting 350++ easily . All is the ram limiting me.

Here my 2800+ sempron64bit with NF8 too.

wow...s64 can beat my old A64 already...nice scores there...

but why issit faster?? other than the 0.09m architecture, the cache is also smaller...i just dun understand...if results are this good, i'm considering switching to S64....

i saw robyncom there got a sempron 2800+ 256k cache and a sempron 300+ 128k cache

which 1 should i go for?? and are those E6 steppings?
mind telling me your stepping guys?

I do a quick try this morning and without 1.55v i cant hit anything above 345HTT. sad.gif

Stable at this . Slightly Overvol.

kucingfight, i realise something bout NF8. Even i using Icute 450watt , it give me same rail like actec 400watt. After few reading at MBM5, my +12volt constant at 12.10 and so do my +5v at 5.1v. Btw is ur mobo temp reading when priming can go up 115.5c? vmad.gif Den i restart straight to bios and it only 45c.

using asus k8n

latest result from mine

i found out that setting the ram clock of DDR400 to DDR333 in bios doesnt affect anything since im overclocking everything..

using sempron 256 k 2800+ 64 which is 1600 MHZ stock which memory running at 201MHZ/8

Memory running at CL 2.5 3/3/6/11/16

DDR running at 400 which is 201MHZ which is same with the above 201/8
HT set to 4 which is 4*200 =800 Bus

running 270 FSB * 8 = OC tuill 2160 MHZ

Memory running 216 MHZ/10

memory running at CL 2.0 3/3/5/10/16

set bios DDR runnng at 333 but....
HT set to 3 which run at this 216MHZ*3=810 Bus

overall 35 % increase from 1600 mhz to 2160 MHZ.

this is the best i get so far

never touch the Vcore and Vdimm..i leave it to auto or default.

memory speed i also set to auto.

@ Cyclone, MOBO temp? I'm using Abit's EQ, on max load 305x7 , cpu is 47 and sys is 41C.

I can only get mine to prime max stable at 305HTT. Think the board is limiting. Tried many combos of volts adjustments.

345MHz is really impressive.... Most NF8 mobo reviewers only hit ~310MHz. tongue.gif
BTW, what's your CPU steppings?

i believe they only running the HT X 2..not X3 or X4

they only getting 350.4*2 =700.8..i think it's impossible to get X3 HT which is 1051.2 bus.

AMD sempron running 800 Bus...

and they already set higher voltage
