Got a S64 2500+ 256kb cache last few days and finally had the time to assemble and test it.

Test BED:

Abit NF8 (stock) Flashed to BIOS 17
Sempron64 2500+ 256kb (default 1400mhz)
512mb KVR DT D43
Cheaplak GF2MX 200
Good Ole' Vtech 350w

Voltage @ Bios = 1.5v (It doesn't allow undervolting)

Currently letting it prime @ 2000mhz overnite, more results wil be up in a fewdays time.

Initial findings:

1. a 600mhz overclock from default it's definitely a good sign.
2. Probably, the NF8 isn't a proper board for pushing to the highest HTT.
Currently, from what i've read, highest is 320 HTT.
3. another 1700+/1800+ DLT3C craze? smile.gif
4. AFAIK, there are no databases for s64 2500+ OC result, so probably a
reference result here will be a good start. (Period)
There are results of s64 2800+ , doing around 2.5-2.6ghz. Probably this lower sibling will be able to hit as high as tat, provided if the mobo does high HTT.
5. IMO, should the CPU scales higher, the MOBO will be the limiting factor here and the DFI would be the best choice in exploiting the fullest of this cpu.
6. For those NF8 users with Enermax 431w, do take note, the combo isn't compatible. I can't get the Enermax to boot the NF8

soulfly, i didn't jot down the codes as i was too excited assembling the sys.

Anyways it's primestable @ 2000mhz @1.42v. Haven try it further.

Btw, any S64 OC results to be shared here?

@ Cyclone, MOBO temp? I'm using Abit's EQ, on max load 305x7 , cpu is 47 and sys is 41C.

I can only get mine to prime max stable at 305HTT. Think the board is limiting. Tried many combos of volts adjustments.

A note here, Even the overclocked s64 in theory is able to beat a p4 3.8ghz at certain benchies, imo, the p4 with its HT will still whack the s64 good enough. Being a user from p.4 3.8ghz to s64, i can feel the 'lagginess' especially multi tasking in the s64. anyways, nothing to complain though, bang for the buck, s64 wins hands down

Guess i've been a while off here.

@wtm0325, yeap mine has the 'missing' 4 caps too. Currently, i'm runnin 300x7 =2100mhz. Probably, i'll be getting a 2800+ soon, as i can't push my current cpu further

I've swapped by 2x double sided DT D43 for 2x single sided BTJ.

Overclocking results improved.

2x double sided , MAX HTT prime stable = 296
2x Single sided , currently at 315HTT. LEtting it fold at this speed a little while

The double sided has some issues with NF3 . ( dates back to NF2 again? rolleyes.gif )

yap, itried using 1xdouble sided, and it tops around 300HTT. i've tried many voltage adjustments combos but i couldn't get it to prime stable.

currently i'm running at 100mhz divider, juz to eliminate the rams fault.

mmm in comparison, In folding (600pt gromac) , the 2.8C @3.8ghz takes around 25mins to fold a step, compared to my current sempron 2.2ghz which takes around 35mins.

btw, kucingfight..
u mentioned p4 need 25mins to fold a step, the CPU with HT or no HT enabled?
*
with HT on.mm actually, 2 instances of 600pt, 50mins a step. btw hoping to get my p4 setup back soon

what the best stepping so far for E6 sempron? I c alot hitting 2.5-2.7 under default , anyone mind telling me which stepping is good?

Probably, IMO, it's safe to say 'every' Sempron E6 will overclock darn well.

Assuming 41.5C is on load? Yeah, as always remove the sucky stock thermal pad and replace it with As5 or something

Good speed u have, ramp up the HTT. keep al voltages at default. Set the divider to the lowest and increase the HTT.

what's more...mmm.that's it i think. Of course..Prime it for stability

Nice OC.

I've hit 320HTT. Weird thought. It loves Single Sided BT D43 and No problems on dual Rams.
