Traffic shaping is now in place
Used to get full speed from MU and FS all the time, now it's only during certain hours; normally 12AM and above.
*
Same here. I only able to hit my max speed after 2AM onwards.
I felt like it throttled during peak hours on MU and FS.

But other like Hotfile and Rapidshare, were fine for me. 20Mbps easily

Why must use the DIR-615 to share with housemate?  blink.gif

l was using Riz's hub previously, after re-format my PC haven't installed yet, ya later will join back  smile.gif

Erm... We subscribe VIP5 together mah... Then the DIR-615 is still doing its job with "auto-restart" every 2~3days. I can't urge them to pay for a new router. If I am to buy a router then I'm like sponsor them to use my router for free. Very sien one le... If like that T.T Then if spoil they won't bear the responsibility as well. So how?

just got unifi installed for my parents today. the technician told me something very strange and i wanted to confirm with you guys if it is true. i didn't like the default network SSID that he configured for me eg. myname@unifi so i asked if i can change it later. his response was not to change the SSID name because it will decrease the speed of the unifi connection. he said something about TM already programmed my default SSID in their system so it should be the same on my wireless network.

does that make sense at all? any of you guys experience slower speeds after changing the SSID name?

thanks!

hi...
I have a question here, I have my unifi installed and realized that the wifi signal is very weak especially in some far-end room of my house. I have tried the methods such as bridging from unifi.athena.my and realize that the wifi signal at some places are still very weak despite the fact that I am already using my own router. That would mean that it's probably the distance or wall thickness factors that affect the wifi signal.

My question is that are there any other solutions to solving this? Do i need homeplug or repeater? Are they "plug and play?" as I am not very tech-savy, might not be able to configure the device. Thanks in advanced!

SSID can be change. Check the wireless channel setting. If your wireless channel is clashing with the nearby neighbor the speed will drop.

Probably the router is not installed at the best position that can cover whole house. Why don't you tell the brand/model of your own router and see if anyone using them and let them assist you if anything can be done to improve the signal power. Normally ppl go for router with higher transmitting power else upgrade antenna else repeater as you said.

Hello! Thanks for your prompt reply. The modem is Aztech DSL605EW. The antenna cannot be removed. =< My dad kinda bought it so I didn't get to choose it beforehand.
I have been thinking to try on the DD-WRT guide from Rizvan but I am kinda hesitating. Repeater might be a safe idea if it doesn't cost a lot. hmm.gif

Thanks again!

Repeater will be the best deal. Best still get the TPLINK. The DLINK wireless signal is actually quite weak.

SWT... Erm... I think you better try try that Aztech first then I think you will revert back to DIR-615...
I used that before and it totally sucks... It is even worse than dir-615 (my experience...). If you torrent on that Aztech through WiFi, prepare to get "HANG-ED" connection maybe once in 10~15mins... Everytime this happens, I need to disconnect from the router(on laptop) and reconnect... Very frustrating...

Oops... Wait... That DSL605EW is a adsl modem isn't it? You configured it to work as router? I tried to google on setting it as router only but i din see anyone said success so far. lol...

I used the bridging guide thingy. It works initially but later on it doesn't anymore I don't really know what happened. The wifi signal is as bad as the DIR-615.

The entire unifi setup is the 3rd room, and the other end of my house (master bedroom's end) gets really bad connection. When I shifted to unifi setup to the 2nd Room however, I could receive full bar in the master bedroom.

The only problem is that the setup has to remain in the 3rd room as my brother is using the modem with cable. So the master bedroom receives almost no signal at all. So I am thinking to put a repeater in the 2nd room instead if there are no other options. =<

Get TPLINK's repeater? Compatible with the DIR-615?

OMG... Your rooms are SO BIG that wifi signal can't penetrate through @.@ Why don't just pull the router and put outside 3rd room then just lan cable into the room? Try it first and see whether u can receive signal. If can then should be the best. This should work as it doesn't need to penetrate through that many wall.

My parents and I are neat-freak, like seriously. So having the cables all around the house is kinda a no-no. I am suspecting the wall or some other things that affect the wifi signal in between the room. xD Does repeater slow down the speed? I love downloading shows. =P

Okay,i need help..
I had a d-link dwa 547 rangebooster n650 desktop adapter.had unifi installed last year..and i had no problem going online using my old dell laptop until i bought a new desktop.
I used the d-link thingy,it says im connected to my router but it says no internet access and i cant go 192.168.0.1
Then i used a aztech wireless usb adaptor and its plug and play and i can surf the net with no problem..
The d-link shouldnt be a faulty set as i manage to connect to my mobile hotspot which i get from my hp and i can surf the net..

Any idea how to fix this no internet access or no network access problem?
Is it my router's problem or my wireless adapter's problem?

PS,im not so good at these stuff so pls forgive me if my explanation is weird..

EDIT: after some clicks here and there,it shows internet access.but i still can't seem to surf the net..it just keeps loading the page but nothing was loaded..
