ExpertyVPN or LinVPN, both very cheap price compared to the bigger VPN, and they work just fine.

I've personally tested both, they work just fine even for P2P smile.gif

This sudden blocking is making me sick.

What happened to the promise made that the internet would never be censored?

LIARS. Look, I'm not one to believe anything, but come on!

Here I am, doing my research for a paper I have to present, and some of the notes are on some of the sites, in PDF.

And guess what I CAN'T download them. (well, if you must know, ofcourse I did the whole DNS thing, but still, very inconvenient).

And they wonder why the majority of votes are slipping away. Morons. I'm using it to freakin' STUDY.

While you're at it take the away the internet altogether. Send us back to the ice age.

I wonder what would happen if those Anonymous dudes actually manage to do the hacking.

Now, excuse me while I continue cursing on every site I can find.

yeah i agree, especially students, we don't have money to buy paper for our lecture notes...we got 'em from the lecturers via internet...in my case, the notes are long and full of pictures with high definition so that we can clearly...therefore, it exceed the 25MB limit that std email have...my mates and I rely heavily on the file sharing website

Someone needs to seriously question the government about this. Instead, the press has been licking the government's a$s. They don't bother to contact Najib and ask him whats with that empty promise he so heroic made about the gov don't censorship internet. The sites they block are all legal site, and this is also another point no one is asking the government or MCMC.

Unfortunately none of the media is pressuring the government. Useless bunch of press.

In this case the government a.k.a BN is the who enacted MCMC to ban the sites, so obviously they r the one to be blame. And it doesn't mean that PR will be the same, at least we need 2 give them a chance to prove their words.

What a joke. If they wants to ban..ban the warez sites not the file hosting sites. Some company used em to transfer their files.

Blame the pirates. You are probably the handful of people using file hosting for non-illegal usage.

Anyway, privacy or piracy?

Blame the pirates?? No, I only blame onboth the money suckers Barisan Neraka and TMNUT.

ahh naive in denial. Let me explain a bit more on how this is an act against piracy.
Malaysians loves to pirate. They go to internet since they don't have to pay shit. They went into all those site to get them. They download them and be done with those site never to be entered unless they got something else to pirate.
You see, in their eyes and brains, they are supposedly trying to stop these acts of piracy. You may say whatever you want, you may justify how is that you are allowed to merompak, but the FACT is, they see how their bandwidth are being used, they see all these website being used to download nothing but pirated materials. So in their perspective they want to stop all this act of piracy since it is hogging up their bandwidth. Bandwidth running out but they're all used for illegal purposes? Which ISP on this planet going to allow it?

Now for my REAL point that you do not seem to get. Try to read this and understand it. I'll use an analogy for your easier understanding. Say a hardware store that sells machete. The store is very much legal. However the cops found out one day that criminals are always buying the machetes to commit a crime from this store. And so the police instead of looking around the ACTUAL criminal, they closed the shop. Why? Because it is EASY. They don't have to do any investigative work to find those criminals. All they need to do is stop the source where the tool of crime is obtained.

A very skewed solution to a problem isn't it? That is my point. Its an act against piracy, but a very stupid act. Not to mention an easy way out since they don't need to get their asses off their lovely seat and arrest those who sells them openly in pasar malam/shopping malls. Or maybe they do but turn a blind eye for some duit kopi?

As for your '100% against piracy'. MU sure I know. I've seen a lot of dead links myself. But ThePirateBay? Seriously you're digging their 100% against piracy? How many times do you think have they relocate to where the law can't touch them? You cannot believe what the government says but you believe a site filled with pirated materials they're against piracy? That is truly laughable. How about that website that has 'warez' in its name? That is like a marketplace for pirates.

Frankly, I'm hoping they get insanely serious with pirates. Get rid of those sellers, watch torrent website and bring those pirates to court. Ahh when the day comes I just sooo want to say padan muka to all those people.
What does that have anything close to do with anything I've said?
*
If you have evidence showing that you never ever download pirated stuffs since you born, show us here. Or else, STFU.

If I may add, the immediate question is, does MCMC has the discrete power to decide & declare which site is illegal, then give discrete order to block without going some kind of house debate and/or court decision?

I really hope this is not another case of power abused, if it happend once, it will happen again.
Soon we probably can only access www.XXX.my only, or perhaps SKMM is the only ISP here ......

It seem like the present governing bodies only interested in blocking, they have no interest to understand & analyse why Malaysian tend to download, and why many others do not come & download from us.

We import more than export, this is the fact now. But what have the government done to increase & improve our local contain to attract others?

This useless blocking technique not only distance us away from the rest, it further discourage & drive away many local contain development.

SKMM, please look at a bigger picture, you don't own the world, you just have to work with the world. You are simply asking for more trouble by keep blocking other people sites, please wake up !!

Exactly
There are no rules that state those file hosting sites are illegal, so how can anyone claim they are illegal?

This is an internet censorship that don't even have the law to back it up.

We have a bunch of mentally handicapped people up there running things
