Heard the new pay of RM5k will not cover a lot of benefits. So maybe it's not as good as it looks.
Anyway, anyone know if this figure only covers engineering graduates? |

PETRONAS medical benefit is covered by ING since 2003 except for cases where ING has no coverage such as maternity. Roughly, you can get the same coverage (bar maternity) by getting a coverage that costs you around 4k premium a year. The 1k extra salary (this is base salary) already pays you an extra 12k per year (more than enough for the medical premium) and let's not forget an extra 5k a year if you use the same amount of bonus (5 months this year). A good 8% increment per year should cover the medical premium charges after 2 years. (17k extra a year compounded by 8%). I am not even going to mention the extra EPF money that 1K is bringing in a year.

The house loan can save you a lot actually. |

QUOTE(mangoman @ Mar 18 2012, 05:38 PM) And the new batch (after June 2010) will be also losing the house and car loan. The house loan can save you a lot actually. Housing loan in Petronas is at 4% interest rate. Most bank now give you at least BLR -2% (or around 4.5%), that's 0.5% extra interest probably going to cost you an extra 150 ringgit a month for a 300K loan (not sure, but someone can correct me). Car loans are also the same, an extra 150 a month. The 1K extra is more than enough to cover the "benefit" lost and remember this 1K will the base salary where all other stuff is based on (bonus, increments, promotion etc etc) is quite significant, an 8% increment based on 5K is 80 ringgit more a month that an 8% increment on a 4K base salary.I could not buy a house when I was in Petronas until I completed my 4 year service (using petronas loan) and that was for a 200K apartment, with 5K base salary, a fresh grad can immediately get a 250K loan from any bank and in this property market, the faster you can buy a property, the better it is. |

well regarding pay, from my source what I heard was the 5k for fresh grads is for those from UTP. Other unis maybe 3.5k to 4k?
then again, take all these w a pinch of salt unless verified by someone from Petronas |

QUOTE(Mooi @ Mar 18 2012, 05:15 PM) Are you a PETRONAS employee?? Otherwise, stop spouting nonsense. Just because you are not qualified enough to be recruited, doesn't mean it practices inequality or discrimination. Fyi, I have seniors of different races working for PETRONAS. Sorry to said that, everyone in this world know that most Malaysian GLC company which include Petronas does have a Quota system, same like our local university system... |

QUOTE(rabloo @ Mar 20 2012, 08:48 AM) I believe most of the non-bumi have applied to Petronas be4, but in the end there are all in Shell, Esso or other O&G company.. Until now they dare not list out how many non-bumi / bumi % working in Petronas or other GLC company... But from what i have told in an interview i done be4 with a local O&G company, the manager told me that if 1 Chinese out, only 1 Chinese can come in to replace it and not others.. This is the quota they set.. That why that day i went interview so many Chinese ppl over there.. But sadly i am not listed.. Anyway there is no fairness in Malaysian system, if really they are selecting the best to work with them i think the whole Petronas will be full wif foreigners.. The only bumi i respected in Petronas is Hassan Merican.. Really a talented person.. This post has been edited by littlefire: Mar 20 2012, 08:35 AM |

Yes the 2 persons that mention nt bumi, but majority staffs are bumi n i belive petronas hire them nt becoz of capability I have been following this thread for quite some times now and I feel I have to share what I think with you. Take note that PETRONAS is "half-private / half-gomen". Things were somewhat controlled by the gomen. So the performance may not be at peak based on your expert-observation. Yes, many PETRONAS staffs are Bumi. But I belive non-bumis were given equal opportunity too. I know a senior manager and he is not a bumi. Dont think there's ever a racism culture being promoted in PETRONAS. If u are saying that every single company that employ more bumi than non-bumi is racist companies, then I can say KHL is pretty racist too. Capabilities do not associate with skin colors. Capabilities are individually-based to each person. If u say that PETRONAS would be much performed if more non-bumis are hired, well there's a chance that PETRONAS will give out salary like KHL. |
