Unlikely because PETRONAS has a group wide salary scheme. Unless they do the remuneration based on your skill groups. I know once you are in skill group 9 or 10 (Geoscience/Petroleum Engineering), then you are on a different remuneration scale (higher bonus, increments, and faster track for promotion).

I suspect this is what your friends are referring to. I still doubt it though because PETRONAS don't usually group the entry staff. They do it after a couple of years.

i have chit chat with Petronas HR person yesterday..
fresh engineer pay should be 4k..but they plan to raise up to 4.5k this year (not confirm yet)..

If Fresh RM4.5k..
Then after next Year ..it will be
2nd- +8% Increment = RM4860
3rd- +8% Increment = RM5248.8
4th- +8% Increment = RM5668.7
5th- +8% Increment = RM6122.2
6th- +8% Increment = RM6612
7th- +8% Increment = RM7141
8th- +8% Increment = RM7712
and after 20 Years = RM..........

their increment is based on annual? Not performance wise? From all the senior staff at shell here, where i currently working at their project, they said working with petronas is most underpaid for them. They easily get 30k+/- currently working as contractor in commissioning department.

i think it should be lower for senior position if compared with other company in that same position..
but salary for fresh grad it was good..

yeah their fresh grad pay is nice tho.. just tat they say no good staying in petronas long, underpaid lol... it makes petronas looks like feeder company, train ppl feed to other company But i heard petronas turnover rate not so high tho probably if u prefer a secure job, can join petronas I am a contractor tho, not really brilliant result, that's why cant join permanent staff, have to go the side path lol..

Commissioning..Even SSB pays for Material Co-ordinator, 1 Year Contracts, Basic RM18k..
Petronas staff is underpaid..but I beleive it more stable..remember somewhere around 2008, where the Oil Price drop down, and all shell project @ fabrication yard has been suspended for almost 7 months..

No. All fresh grad will get 5K. There will be NO medical benefit, no Housing Loan benefit and no car loan benefit.

how about geology fresh graduates? does petronas take them in anyhow? how is the starting salary like ?

Of course PETRONAS would love to take Geology fresh grads. The pay will be the same when you enter but after 2-3 years and once you pass the technical assessment, you will be assigned to your skill group and you will be in tier 1 or 2 (high demand skill group) where you will be on different remuneration scheme (faster promotion, higher merit increment, higher bonus and technical allowances). By the time you have 7-9 years experience, you should be looking at 12-15k salary range.

I am more than happy to oblige to undertake the technical assessment and the process involved, but do you mind briefing me about what goes on during that period and how they assess your capabilities and aptitude? and I have one important question for everyone, how do other companies(e.g. Middle East, Australia etc) start looking you up to give you job offers overseas? Do they go through your company's HR beforehand and ask how many years experience have you had or something? Sorry haha I'm not well-versed with these things and I love to plan ahead a lot. Please enlighten me?

how is the annual increment for fresh graduate in petronas ?

let's say fresh graduate 4k, after confirm how much ?
and how is the annual increment in E1 level ?

If it is really RM4k, does it matter whether it include allowance or otherwise? I think RM4k is way above market value.

After confirmation (6months), there is no increment and there is no technical allowance also for Tier 1 and Tier 2 staffs even after working one year. The annual increment is based on your performance.

Added on March 31, 2012, 2:12 pmPoor the previous batch like us, starting 4k, capped medical benefit (4k outpatient, 35k hospitalization yearly), no housing and car loan benefit. I would rather forgo my capped medical benefit for that addtional 1k per month.

Added on March 31, 2012, 2:14 pmNo such thing if they segregate the pay based on which uni that you graduated from, how about those petronas scholars from overseas uni, are they subjected to higher pay then UTP? Once you enter petronas, you will be treated equally.
