Hey all, below pic are 2 tyres from my viva 1.0ezi which damaged by hole.
my question is, is these tyres still can be used? my own idea is use a tube inside..  but technician dont allow it.. (i guess they want earn money, lol)
how u all view it... new one cost RM150 each..
Tyre 1
Tyre 2

Basically if the its only a puncture u can reseal it but judging from ur pic looks like its more to a tear, i believe even the steel braided embedded is affected.. hmm.gif
So don't really think u can salvage it, coz when put under pressure that part of the tire would become the weakest point on ur tyre, u know what happen when pressure build up there, kapooow blown tyre sweat.gif

havent tested at high speed.. only the usual corners enroute home, feels the sidewall is much stiffer.. feedback from bumps minimal too.. i'll be travelling alot on the highway for the next 2 week.. should have more to comment later.. sweat.gif

its a tear. and tire will expand after a long drive (heat up) thus caused pressure leaked out from the tear.
get a new replacement. your life doesn't worth 300 bucks.
if you're tight on budget, go for a reliable used tire.

if ps3 is available at that size, why not? as long as it wasn't nct5.
since it was quite a rare size, other option is yokohama s.drive and kumho ecsta or xs series.
much depend on your driving preference / style.

falken 522(made in indonesia) is one of the worst tire around. grip sux' big time, especially in wet.
ze912 fared better  but tread too soft it tend to peel of when driven on rough surface.
you can use ps3, s1, v12 or the cheaper kumho, dunlop d01.
our lives depend on the tire choice. no compromise in safety.

well, i don't know what your prev experience were on 522, I'm using mine for almost 4 years...yes...dangerously 4 years...(2nd car)

on wet and dry...they do well for my daily sprinting/driving and cornerings still.
less oversteer/understeer compare to my old bridgestones. 2 punctures...and sealed back faithfully.

sidewalls are hard hence road bumps are felt prominently...and as it ages, to 40k, sound creeps out annoyingly.
for those budget conscience. Not saying it's a good tire, but neither saying it's worse.

912 materials are getting bad since 2009, due to the cost cutting and new synthetic compound used.
I wouldn't want to get those now...the Falken 912 is just living by it's old reputation.

while the other car was using pp2, and has changed to s-drive....there hasn't been much complain at the moment.
i don't know about ps3 and v12...probably have a chat with my tire foreman on sales and customer feedbacks.

Between PS3 and S drive. Performance S drive better but comfort cannot beat PS3.

well, it depend on. once, i was on 522 which is of japan made( older 522 is quite okay. check out the rebadged firenza too). but after i changed to a new set of 522 made in indonesia, turn out there is a different in performance. sidewall aside, compare to the japan made, the indonesian made 522 does not offer sufficient grip in wet driving. also, further braking distance.
pp2 is fine. so does s.drive. in fact, i was drawn into s.drive due to the availability of odd sizes and wet performance.
again, i will be very much depend on the car and driving style.
btw, which bridgestone are you on back then? my-01?

i used to be a yokohama fan. from my experience, the ps3 is slightly ahead of the s.drive in performance.
different is negligible thou. choices down to lower noise of ps3.
the only moment the s.drive come out top was during heavy downpour drive.
how i wish the ps3's sidewall could be a little stiffer thou.

just to check...but are u sure about this? u sure its not just the whole japan and indonesia placebo?

coz ive used ST115 made in Japan and then immediately after the ST115 made in Indonesia (same size, same rim, same car, same setup) and there was no difference at all. except for the made in indonesia badge on the sidewall.

Having used ps3 before I'd say it's on par with s drive but because of the lembik sidewall seriously the performance is sacrifice. It still the better choice because of its comfortness and performance. While S drive is seriously noisy.

mADmAN@
to start with, st115 is a rung above the 522 whereby the 522 is almost on par with 322.
fitted to daily ride. at first, i thought it was. but car was driven and trashed on the same road everyday.
weather, speed, tread wear and pressure aside, the indonesian made require more steering correction at the same part of the corners. also require lower speed going into the fast corner in intermediate road condition.

fazron80@
ps3 is definitely fine at higher pressure. if sidewall is the priority, might as well settled for re-001. sidewall
is even stiffer than ad07 brows.gif

PS3 is damn silent and damn grippy! But aquaplanning resistivity I still have some doubt.

in wet and intermediate road condition, it beat the gsd3 and s.drive.
but during downpour or heavy rain, grip is much lesser than gsd3.
at least, it doesn't caused wheels lock.

standard price for tire of your size. except the direzza, harder d-01 and the noisy / bulky fm901(with flange shield like your lm703), i never trashed other dunlop.
perhaps, less noise but the excessive flange shield will caused a floating sensation in fast corner and aquaplanning (like the fm901).

My first choice for now is Continental CSC3. Quiet and Grippy even during wet weather.
