No it is not good rate. means he wants to sell USD to RM. the rate for today in money changer is around the range of 3.58 - 3.60

Unless if he buys USD at 3.5018 then it will be a good rate biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Uh guys, I have a stupid question. When using Oanda's currency converter, do I put the currency that I was charged in on the left hand side or right hand side?

Wanna ask about Maybank Visa bank surcharge %.

From past discussions I recall it was something like 1.25% or 1.5%.

I checked some of my most recent transactions (based on posting date) and discovered the bank surcharge was 2.26%.

Any other Maybank Visa users notice this?

Hi, is your calculation above correct?

I just checked on Visa's website and the JPY exchange rate on 25/2 (posting date) was 0.030649. Using this figure the AEON surcharge is 1.18% not 0.37%.

Oh, I see. I haven't read this thread in a while.

Like that Maybank Visa no longer that attractive for overseas transactions.

Update: I just called Maybank hotline to inquire about what is the admin fee % they charge for foreign transactions. The customer service guy told me 1%. So I told him from my calculation is was 2.26%. So he is going to double check with the relevant dept tomorrow (they are closed now) and call me back. I will update you guys once I hear back from him.

This reminds me of what Miles posted about 18 months ago:

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Sep 10 2013, 04:01 PM)
While Maybank claims it is only 1%, we all know that it is more than that. That is why the final exchange rate he got is RM3.3826.
*
If Maybank still claims it is 1% (when the truth is otherwise) we should all write in to officially complain plus also cc copy to Bank Negara.

Thanks for pointing out, I used transaction date for the exchange rate rather than posting date. Which is incorrect.
