True. Maybank credit card isn't so competitive anymore for transactions made in foreign currency. Charged quite a few things to my Maybank VISA in USD and KRW and the final rate in MYR is more or less the same as HSBC and Citibank sad.gif

I noticed that the Maybank has increased their service fee to 2% recently sad.gif Likewise, the treat points redemption has also been depreciated, from 10000 points for RM50, increased to  12500 points for RM50
*
August 2013 onward, My oversea transactions shows Maybank credit card has increase the administration fee from 1% to 2%
Furthermore they revised the redemption point upward, now 100 points is only worth 40sen instead of 50sen (20% value depreciation)

Without even notify the customer before the change. rclxub.gif

Charged another two transactions (in Korean Won) to my HSBC MasterCard and Maybank VISA, both transactions were made and posted on the same day and the final rate for HSBC MasterCard is a little bit lower than Maybank VISA doh.gif

In the long term, Maybank VISA Infinite is probably the only good card from Maybank for overseas use due to its 5x TP.

Hi Ronnie,

thanks for your recommendation.
Any example of real transaction to show us as reference?

Where can i find the 5% rebate info regarding this card?
5% rebate will end after December 31, 2103? what's the rebate after that?
Any limit to the 5% return? of all transaction without limit?

Thanks,
Len

anyone here have Alliance Bank Visa Infinite and used it for overseas transactions? As per MilesandMore's findings above, trying to find a card better than Maybank Visa Infinite (normal Maybank Visa/MC can throw already)

My experience with my cancelled Alliance Bank Visa (not infinite) was very high exchange rate rivalling Amex

i have a horrible experience in thailand.
where the the bank there directly convert the currency from THB into RM for me and the rate is RM1 = 8.89 THB while money changer can get RM1= 9.36 THB.
*
this is the spectre of DCC (direct curreny conversion). You are suppose to be able to say No but I have been a victim where we are not allowed to.

well documented on travel forums especially in China

Hi guys, can anyone share with me yr experience in using citibank card on Japan? Say now I'm going to make a purchase of 30000yen and acc to visa rate of 1:30, does it mean the amt I'm going to be charged is 30000 x 1.025 (processing fee) / 30 = rm1025?
Thx in advance

Between SCB, PBB and UOB, which are the better rates for overseas transactions? Was told PBB don't charge processing fee, not sure how true is it.

As I'm going Europe in a month's time, using credit card is a pain in the ass with the high euros and shitty ringgit now.
