Hi there. Going to hk soon. Based from all the posts here it's better to use maybank2card mc on weekdays since it has the lowest rate and mbb Amex on weekends since it has 5% cash rebates? If transaction done in oversea on Sunday still entitle for 5% cash rebate right? I worried because I booked through agoda on saturday using amex but not entitle for it!
*
for overseas hotel booking with agoda:

book through Maybank Visa or MasterCard Agoda.com Promotion and save 6% OR

book through HSBC Home and Away Privileges using Premier World MasterCard or Visa Singature and enjoy 7% and 6% discount respectively. 5% discount for HSBC Gold credit cards OR

book with Citibank PremierMiles ot Platinum and get 7% discount and other cards 5%.

As for overseas transaction, based on lowest rate, yes, use MBB Visa and MasterCard UNLESS you have Premier cards that earns you 5X to 10X points.

Use Citibank PremierMiles 3 times overseas and get FREE taxi ride home in Klang Valley thumbup.gif

As usual, the rate is even cheaper than TWD cash you can buy at any local money changer. Big thumbs up to MBB VISA/MC thumbup.gif

Seem that I get charged 2.01% instead of 1% bank charges.
What is stated in their website is still 1%:

If a transaction is made in foreign currency, MasterCard or VISA, depending on which card is used, will convert the transaction into a Ringgit Malaysia equivalent at the conversion rate as determined by MasterCard or VISA as at the date it is processed by MasterCard or VISA.
In addition, you will also pay administration costs at 1% or at such other rates as shall be determined by us for the conversion of the transactions made in foreign currencies.

Bro, even if the card issuer states 1%, usually the effective rate will be close to 2% or even higher.

Click here to see a table comparing various cards exchange rate for overseas transactions posted at previously at My Credit Cards. Please note, that time Alliance Visa got no 1% fee, now Alliance Plat no more competitive - click here to see Alliance Visa higher than CIMB.

Conclusion, from my years of usage, the card that offers the lowest conversion rate for overseas are Maybank Visa or MasterCard.
