May I know the latest software for Byond PVR now? My sis just called me that our PVR at home encountered some minor problem like always hang, slow respond time and when changing the channel, the front led display will always show up the previous channel watched... Ex: I change to channel 612 which is nickelodeon, but previously I was watching channel 101 which is TV1, the front panel LED will always display C101 instead of C612... sad.gif

But other function like rewind, forward, recording is fine... Only that kind of problems that I facing now...

I afraid that my family at home did not upgrade to the latest firmware (if available)....

If you already owned the Astro set, then it's free..
But for new registration, depending on the promotion, the price is RM199 if i'm not mistaken...
But somehow you can just get it from agent instead... they offered much more affordable price...
I have seen about months ago, the agent sell Astro new set for RM50 only. But 2 years contract will be imposed to you...

Ooo I see ..

but most of the agents in lyn charge RM199 or RM200 for new registration which make me hold my registration .. kind of not worth if I can get a better deal somewhere else .. hehe ..

furthermore, I am not urgent to get astro .. so better find a good deal or free registration/installation would be fantastic .. I dont mind about the length of contract as I might use it forever .. smile.gif ..

MEASAT-2 Now Operational at 148°E
15 September 2011

MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. ("MEASAT") announced today that MEASAT-2 had been successfully brought back into operational service at 148°E.

"We are delighted to announce that MEASAT-2 is now available to provide inclined capacity across the South East Asia and Oceanic regions," said Yau Chyong Lim, Senior Director, Sales and Marketing, MEASAT.

MEASAT-2 was launched in 1996. The spacecraft, manufactured by Boeing Satellite Systems, is designed to provide up to six (6) C-band and six (6) Ku-band transponders.

"The 148°E orbital slot is a key location with excellent coverage over the East Asia and Oceania regions," continued Yau. "We are currently finalising the design of the MEASAT-2 replacement spacecraft – to be named MEASAT-2a satellite – to support growing transponder demand for telecommunications and broadcasting services in the regions, and expect announcements on this program shortly."

measat 2 was launched back in November 1996 with design lifetime of 12 years, "inclined capacity" means it is run out of fuel to keep its optimum geostationary orbit position, I think it is ready to move itself to graveyard orbit in not too distant future

Hi All,

May I know if Astro B.yond and the grey dish are using the same cable? I mean from dish to decoder. I wish to hide the cable inside the wall of my new house so just wanna make sure.

Thanks a lot.

astro is using cheap double-shielded RG-6 coaxial cable, if you can get triple or quad shield cable is even better

if you want the ultimate rg-6 Sweep tested to 4.5GHz, although triple shield only, it is the best, see the quote below
QUOTE
For broadcast studio quality DBS/CATV/HDTV distribution in your home/office, we recommend the 4.5 GHz copper braided Belden 1694A. With a 95% Copper braid, double sided, overlapped foil, the shield effectiveness of 1694A exceeds that of quad-shield cable.
