those with PVR, do you have black tape wrapped around the F connectors at the LNB? mine are not wrapped. i recall that the tape is used for waterproofing. but i called my installer and he said that it is not necessary. hmmm....

Yes

Because the metal part of the connector can give you a slight electrical shock biggrin.gif

guys, im wondering how you guys paired astro byond HDMi to TV, but output audio to my Home Theatre system..

how do you guys configure this?? understood that HDMI has audio in it. But if i connect it to my LED TV, the audio out will use TV speaker instead of my sound system right??

so, i need to audio out from Astro to my sound system amp??

please kindly advise.

Depends on your TV whether it can audio out and what formats supported. Also the audio (co-ax or optical - cannot remember which) may be the other option.

Somebody may be able to help you more.

my tv is Sharp Aquos Quattron LED 830M TV which does have the audio out adapter. But understood that this HDMI cable is 2 way communication.

If i have another hdmi from my DVD+Decoder(a Home Theatre System) player connected to my TV via another HDMI input, can my tv re-direct this audio output and use my Theatre System speakers??

Else, have to resort to AStro Byond direct to my theatre system.

am i on the right track??

Try this one..

TV <---- HDMI 1 ----> Astro byond
TV <---- HDMI 2 ----> Home theatre (for playing dvd)
TV <---- Optical ----> Home theatre (for sound from Astro/DVD)

if you have PS3/xbox/wii/Media player, connect them to other HDMI ports.

my configuration..

Sharp LE820M + astro beyond + home theatre (dvd player) + ps3 + media player.. all sounds come home theatre link to tv via optical cable..

hope this help..

thanks bro.

this means the TV will redirect the audio from HDMI to Home Theatre via the optical cable?

this means the audio out all from TV itself. does the Home Theatre sound decoders to process the audio, or its the TV that's processing the audio??

how about if i buy this Sony SoundBar: http://www.sony.com.my/product/ht-ct150

it has 3 HDMI input. Both Bluray and Astro B.yond output to this Soundbar, then 1 HDMI output to TV. it works the same way too right??

thanks!

You may be better off buying a AV Receiver (AVR) depending on your budget.

My setup Astro (HDMI) > Yahama AV (HDMI) > TV
Blue-Ray (HDMI) > Yahama AV
etc

One single connection to the TV from AVR. Non-hd content is upscaled at the AVR end. TV are not too great with upscaling usually.

Might be good news:

QUOTE
Sony Procures Astro Contract for HD Equipment

Asia Pacific, Malaysia – Sony has just announced that it has been awarded a multimillion dollar contract to provide Astro with HD broadcast equipment in Malaysia.

As part of this agreement, Sony will be providing 47 sets of HDC-1550 and three sets of HDC-3300R HD cameras, as well as four MVS-7000X and one MVS-6000 HD switchers to Astro. Sony will be working with the broadcast giant to provide maintenance support for an additional four years following the warranty period.

With this deal, Astro will now upgrade its broadcast studios and OB Vans, which will result in more local programs and sports coverage offerings through its HD channels.

“Sony is pleased to be selected as Astro’s equipment and solutions partner in their upgrade to HD. It is a milestone transition for their business and it is absolutely critical to select the right partner during this transition process. We will ensure that their experience and partnership with Sony will be based on certainty and will be a seamless one,” said Chris Grey, Head of Broadcast and Content Creation Solutions, Professional Solutions Company (PSAP), Sony Electronics Asia Pacific.

More HD local content is good, but don't forget remastering old local content in near HD too. brows.gif

good news to Astro too cause now they can make more money from us. they are getting bigger and more monopoly... we will suffer to pay additional or just watch SD channel 1 to 9 using antenna on roof.

As it is sudah koyak poket loo..

remember astro beyond decoder only has one hdmi output..
the best solution is go to electric shop and buy an actice (using electric) HDMI splitter withy at least 2 output minimum (around RM200 +-). connect HDMI from decoder to splitter to tv direct and another hdmi to your amp. better if your amp is AV with upscaller. can watch without amp turned on (hdmi input direct to tv) or turn amp on to enjoy 5.1. also make sure your sound setting (decoder box) choose to 5.1 to enjoy your amp.

Football fans need to realise that just having a big number of channels wont necessarily mean all mathces can be shown..take the match u mention here..even if Astro have Supersort HD 3, it wont be shown because of rights and contractual reasons..even now, they have Supersport HD and Supersports HD 2..but they cant show it because the rights are held by ESPN STAR SPORTS hence it can be only shown on their channels..

I took a look in Astro's FB page yesterday and there are many Arsenal fans upset that their match tomorrow wont be LIVE but be on delayed..they are blaming Astro with excuses such as there are many channels but why not show the match? Football fans in Malaysia need to be a little bit open minded and learn a few things regarding rights and contracts of LIVE football matches instead of moaning and whining on FB pages..until ESPN STAR SPORTS set up like how Sky Sports in the UK broadcast many football matches, we are at their mercy..
