Customize version for IPTV maybe...

Based on my own experience connecting component and HDMI simultaneously, it works!
But you need to know that Component port on Byond cannot output the HD content to your TV even literally component support HD..

Only HDMI port are available to output the HD content to your TV.. and that's why probably it can be use simultaneously...

err.. btw, is that means your tv set and set top box will be located at the different place?

Yea.. and plus, Mio TV are having a "stuttering" picture problem when they are watching EPL games because MioTV that delivered via ADSL 2+ platform did not have a special VLAN tagging like what Mio TV delivered via their new fiber optic network. With VLAN tagging, every service like VOIP and Internet have their own dedicated bandwidth and does not effecting each other.
And most of football fans there are paying for the two providers... Starhub and MioTV...

I do agree with you, splitting the content to the other providers (which is very unlikely in Malaysia) will make the citizens more confused. Plus, let's say if Unifi get an exclusive right to air EPL on their IPTV Platform while their service still not covering the whole Malaysia, surely it will lead to more havoc state here. UNIFI HSBB also unbundled, you cannot separate the IPTV and phone service, how about those EPL Fans who even not have an broadband service at home, just have an astro to watch an EPL, taking sports package for the monthly fee of RM71.95, suddenly because of Unifi, they need to pay RM149.00 or even more if TM decide Sports channel are considered premium channel which the cheapest premium channel on Unifi itself is RM6.50. Are they willing to spend that money every month? This case usually applied for those who live at kampung like my uncle, I have asked him about this and he said he doesn't need Broadband at home and surely he will blame Astro if they removed the EPL... (or maybe he doesn't understand at all the "exclusive rights" terms....)

Just my 2 cents... not supporting astro and tm.

Hmm.. I don't sure which football leagues are split between two contents in Singapore since i'm just reading their forum, but didn't take care so much about which football league. I'm just reading their discussion about MioTV vs Starhub Digital Cable.. It's something about their government where they advice that two pay tv providers sharing the same sports content... Err.. I don't interested in sports actually

I have set my PVR to record the royal wedding today since I can't watch it live on TV...

Anyone here can answer my question please?

Since the SKY NEWS HD will be unavailable starting from 12 midnight, then how about my royal wedding recording? Is that still available and I can watch it anytime that I want if I still take HD packages or it will lost and unwatchable because that particular channel are not available at astro? Please someone enlighten me about this matters....

Gosh... If like that, I need to consider other alternative...

I want HD...

Based on my friend experience, he straightly got Byond decoder.. But without HD services...

I'm using Byond PVR with internal HDD and 2 tuners..
Based on my simple "experiment" just now..,
Without 2 cable be feed into both of it's tuners,
the decoder will always show SERVICES CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE.. Even the clock will reset to 00:00 which means no signal can be captured by the tuners...
You're forced to feed it with dual wire...
That's why when u change to Byond PVR, astro will also change your LNB to dual-output...

I don't encounter any power issue with PVR...
In fact, it has served me very well and next week will be it's first anniversary being at my home

As for me, I just turned off the PVR at night, when I'm going to sleep, except if i'm planning to record something which on-air at the middle of night,
for the daytime, I just leave it on standby mode when I'm not using it.

Actually, the reason Astro advice their subscribers to not power off the PVR is to receive the automatic update from their side. Like software upgrade, EPG update etc etc..

Maybe you can try to disconnect one of the cable and see whether you still can receive the signal or not...
Probably your PVR are the new revision while my PVR are the first batch (i'm subscribing it when they first commenced the PVR decoder last year)

Yes..., since PVR is just like a "mini" computer where many tests will be running when u turn on the unit...
And some more, you can record the tv program even in the standby mode (clock appear in the front panel of PVR)

Maybe it's your TV settings.
Old decoder will only output the 576i/4:3 aspect ratio.
Your LED TV try to upscale it into 16:9 by using auto-zoom function.
Try playing with your TV aspect ratio settings...

I also using LCD TV with Astro standard decoder long time before Astro launched Byond, and I don't encounter that situation.
Set your LED TV aspect ratio tu 4:3 or 16:9 if you don't want a "waste of space" and to see a actor become "fatter" at your screen...

Anyone here already using Byond PVR with Logitech Harmony 600 or 300 universal remote? Planning to get one and combine all of my home entertainment equipment (BYond PVR, HTiB and LCD TV) into the one single remote...

May I know the latest software for Byond PVR now? My sis just called me that our PVR at home encountered some minor problem like always hang, slow respond time and when changing the channel, the front led display will always show up the previous channel watched... Ex: I change to channel 612 which is nickelodeon, but previously I was watching channel 101 which is TV1, the front panel LED will always display C101 instead of C612...

But other function like rewind, forward, recording is fine... Only that kind of problems that I facing now...

I afraid that my family at home did not upgrade to the latest firmware (if available)....

If you already owned the Astro set, then it's free..
But for new registration, depending on the promotion, the price is RM199 if i'm not mistaken...
But somehow you can just get it from agent instead... they offered much more affordable price...
I have seen about months ago, the agent sell Astro new set for RM50 only. But 2 years contract will be imposed to you...
