My contract is up soon. Still thinking whether to cut Astro and channel the $$ to upgrade my internet line. I only need Astro for sports. Can I depend on live streaming for sports?

You can, but you need to buy the Stacker de Stacker. And it's expensive.

Cannot change the mustika witu metro, i asked already, so u must stick with maharaja lawaks

We should bombard Astro with this. We should be allowed to change Mustika with Metro. Hell, I don't watch any of the channels in Mustika.

Has anybody disconnected their Byond set? How is the procedure? Just call in to disconnect and they will come and collect the decoder and dish?

I already did. The procedure is more or less that- just call in and ask for disconnect.

They want you to mail back only the card tho. Decoder and Dish they let you keep as souvenir since you already paid for it.

Not sure if you can arrange for installer to come pick up the card, most likely can.

Very fed up now. First Asstro cancel BBCE. Now FS site and BT all kena block, cannot get Doctor Who anymore. Those b******ds! WHAT DID DOCTOR WHO EVER DO TO YOU SKMM!  mad.gif  vmad.gif

Yours is a Byond set? I thought Byond sets belong to them and they want it back? Anyways, the blocking of FS sites is no big deal bro. Change your DNS numbers, and you can access them all again. biggrin.gif

Yeah, mine's a B.Yond set. First gen Pace unit.

The CS told me that if you unsubscribe before contract is over, they take back everything. Otherwise they only want back the card.

As for the blocking, they're not only poisoning the DNS replies, they're also throttling dl speed. And the speed of my current VPN provider suck. Not that simple.
*
You are using which VPN? I've been using BolehVPN for quite a while. Stable speed and torrents can max my Streamyx line.

Well, I prefer they take back everything. With the decoder and card matching, we cannot use the decoder with any card anyways. Maybe next time if we want to reconnect, they give discount? Otherwise I will use the dish to fry stuff

Is it a cock up from Astro? Or they intentionally gave CH188 to all Byond subscribers regardless of Mustika subscription? Watching Maharaja Lawak now

Disconnected my Astro via phone already. Feels good! biggrin.gif
If you have no more contract, you only have to return the smart card. My new housemate will upgrade his Astro account to the Superpack 1 since we can share the monthly charges. He is already a PVR user.

Your house got 2 astro separately?

My housemate moved in today. He brought his Astro set with him, and since his set is PVR, we decided to keep only his account.

I'm upgrading... The device is call "spectra" I think?
The guys said because PVR box need 2 wires or something like that to connect to the satellite dish?
Either you pull another wire or use the device which cost RM380..... Still quite blur about it, will ask around more....
*
That is a stacker destacker. And yes, Astro PVR needs two wires to the LNB. In that case, the installer is NOT conning you. You will need it if you don't want to lay another cable. But the price maybe a bit on the high side. It should be around RM300.

It is something like this

Hi all,

Does anyone know why sometimes the show's "progress bar" is green line, and sometimes it's red+green line? (red line below the green line)

You can see it when press [OK] on the remote and the "progress bar" in the banner.

I'm using Beyond PVR, is there anything to do with the "hard disk cache"?

Thanks!  smile.gif

The red bar indicates how much of the programme is stored in the hard disk buffer.

Of all the times to install PVR, I chose the Raya festive season. Sigh. I wonder how long will they take. I called on Sunday. Last I checked yesterday, still no installer assigned.

My PVR was installed today without any fuss. Activated almost immediately. Was given a quad output LNB with the brand Sharp despite only installing one PVR. I didn't know that Sharp produces LNB. So now I have two additional unused outputs on my LNB. biggrin.gif

The PVR at my house committed suicide yesterday. While browsing the recorded programmes (at the background it was recording one channel) it suddenly freezed. The video was still playing but you cannot do anything. I could only go back to the big screen (blue byond button) but I cannot change channels. I tried on-off via the remote control, but to no avail, I still could not change channels. So lastly,as a last resort, although I know it was bad since there was a spinning hard disk inside, I switched off the power supply. Waited for a while, then turned back on. After that, I lost all PVR functionalities. No recorded programmes/cannot playback/record/pause, etc. All other functions remained, just like an ordinary Byond box. Called Astro and they will send a technician over. I wonder if they will just give a new box to me.

If Assthrow sources are from satellites, IPTV won't be spared as well.

satellite dishes at Astro's antenna farm are humongous. it would take a serious storm to affect the signal for their sources. the chances are very very slim

My friend's Astro remote control is not working. He bought a cheap alternative remote but still not working. He suspects maybe it's the receiver problem.

Can Astro troubleshoot this for free?
*
Try to find a friend or a neighbour with an ori remote and try. You don't want to buy an ori remote and then find out that the problem is with the decoder
