I dont really mind about the USB 2.0. Heck i doubt even if the RM180 router comes with USB 3.0, it is capable of read/write to the HDD that fast. I've thought about NAS with BT capabilities. But the price blows my budget.
funny your feedback does not help answering my question a single bit but mocking out of nowhere.
and just to humour you, i'll be damn happy if TM cap me at 1MBps for VIP5. And no, even with 20Mbps running at 24/7 at full speed, he wouldn't be able to download more than 2TB in 10 days.
*
If full speed... 2TB in 10 days is achievable!
20Mbps/8=2.5MBps
2.5MB*60*60=9000MB/hour
9000MB * 24 = 216000MB~216GB
10days = 2160GB~2.1TB. Why not??

QUOTE(bizness @ Jun 7 2011, 10:23 AM)
TM just reached my house and I brought them to my room for installation but they told me we going to use VDSL2 since my area not yet pull fiber optic..

I was like WTF!..lol

I'm getting 20Mb package cause I need to some hosting and they wanna use VDSL2?..The ping will definitely be high right guys?..

Anyway let them install if im not satisfied im gonna screw TM for giving me VDSL2 instead of FTTH..

Thanks smile.gif

Where you stay?? If you stay in Condo or Apartment, TM never offer FTTH for high rise building (except certain special case listed by some forumer here where the number of units in a particular condo is very small). Normal condo/high rise building all use VDSL2. Your ping is very good when compared to mine... Mine fluctuates between 50ms to 80ms.

Hurmmm.. but why you got VDSL instead FTTH? hmm.gif
Usually for the landed property, TM will use FTTH.. which is the average ping is about 10-19ms..
There are also who got below than 10ms...

Exact answer would be 2.0599365234375 TB and hence i said not more than 2TB.
But that's not my point. My point is it is impossible to download 3 to 4TB.

no lar for hise should be like this, the main trunk to your building is using fiber from tm exchange then once inside the building then only the data travels through copper, takkan tm will fiber the whole building for you kan. as long as the copper in your building is not of bad condition then should be minimal loss from the fiber to your vdsl unit.

I will feel really grateful if they willing to installing the Unifi at my area through VDSL since my distance from the nearest DSLAM just about 300M.... and the quality of copper line at my housing area are still good... new housing area.. about 3-4 years...
I'm just wanna a speed, don't really bother about the ping... for me 30ms until 50ms is still acceptable notworthy.gif

Hi, I'm having problem with the rubbish TM nut's DIR-615 router

here it goes,
when i copy files between PC / NAS hdd, the router port seems keep on confuse? When it happens, I cant open any webpage anymore such as google, lowyat.net and etc...and I couldn't access router "192.168.0.1"

End up have to keep on type ipconfig /renew in command to refresh
The worst case have to keep on plug off/on router

Yes... I think my area are capable for Unifi via VDSL....
As you see in UK, their ISP (British Telecom) recently launched a new next generation broadband called BT INFINITY...
They just lay a fiber from the exchange into the nearest "green" cabinet at the residential areas... That technology are called as FTTC (Fiber to the Curb) and it is delivered via VDSL.
Same case goes to Unifi, but VDSL technology will are just used in the high rise building where the fiber will be terminated at the small exchange in the basement of the building.
For the BT Infinity VDSL, BT said that there are no speed cap... Your speed will be totally depends on the quality of your copper cable from the "green" cabinet into your house. Maximum speed that can be achieved is about 40Mb/s for download but slightly lower upload speed which is about 16-19Mb/s...

I think it's really possible for TM to implement Unifi for the not-so-called "high economic impact" areas via VDSL technology....

Just my 2 cents.... notworthy.gif

If they can deliver fibre to my condo basement then run up the normal phone cable up 26 floors then shouldn't be any problem to the curb - probably a shorter distance.

Speaking of which - we condo dwellers use a different BTU to landed dwellers and I think my BTU is blown up and I want a spare anyway. Is it possible to buy the condo BTU anywhere in Klang Valley?
