Can someone explain in more details for me... I go through unifi website and read carefully their installation matter but I still confuse.

From my understanding they will pull another cable from the TM box to your house then will pull the fabric optic cable...ok this for landed but I'm staying in a high rise aka condominium.

The salesman told me that the installation will just pluck in from the existing telefon point. Isn't that for streamyx only?? another salesman told me they will pull another cable into my house and the cable will be expose or conceal in a ugly pvc trunking!! I dont want that

so please please i begging you all i need help sad.gif help the poor girl here..I didn't want any expose cable to been seen since I just move in with complete renovation done.
*
U stay in condo right... Means the same way as streamyx. Just from then wall socket. They will disconnect ur streamyx and connect unifi to that socket from outside. No worries xD. If you're still worried, confirm with those contractor before they come or confirm with TM before you subscribe.

I'll screw them hard if they asked me for that! If they dare, I'd get all their details and file them a report at TM. They took long hours at your house, a condo... due to their lack in proficiency. They don't deserve for tips. IMO, you shouldn't have paid them. It will become a bad habit for them to collect from other customers.

Yohoo!! TMUnifi just called me of the report i made this morning.
They said they will trouble shoot the network on their part. I wonder what sort of error can cause wireless router N signal to fluctuate ?

Thanks Unifi Support!! keep up the good work!. Case not close yet.
*
@@ That bloody DIR615 is known to have signal issue la... U give them one year to trouble shoot also cannot solve one. haha

if it's the root of problem than i could request explanation from D-Link and Unifi , right. Perhaps, i should get a monthly rebate or they should upgrade to new model for me since it's under the contract for me to continue this term unless they allows me to terminate this contract and i can move on with another Service Provider.
*
But so far mine works fine. It's just that sometimes dc. Because condo, signal strength is better as distance is short between each laptop and the router.

i wonder y some of you chose the easy way by buying TP link router so soon?  i mean you people sign a contract for such product and knowing that monthly payment is withdrawn each month to pay the bill, y the rush to get tplink modem ? i mean , try living without internet for a while , if people from fukushima can live without infra , y cant we wait for tm support to force its suppliers dlink to give latest model? im pretty sure tmnet and dlink had signed a contract as well , rigth?
*
Hey... People chose the easy way because dealing with TM is a piece of MESS. They degil enough and won't change the router so easily. And... If not to go the easy way, people are wasting their money paying the monthly bill yet can't enjoy them. In long run, they lose more than going the "hard" way. Get what I mean. My router so far so good... Just random disconnection once in few days...

Heck some even buy those expensive (compared to other alternatives) Mikrotik products!

Hi sifus,

If I got more than 5 devices to connect (wired), the RG only has 4 ports to connect to, can I connect the 5th device to the BTU directly?

I tried connecting my PC to BTU directly but it does not work, can't get online.

Please advise.

Thanks.
*
Of course not. The BTU is just like a bridge. Dialer in still in that RG. Why don't you connect via wireless.

QUOTE(LightningFist @ Apr 23 2011, 02:04 AM)
I don't watch a lot of IPTV, but at the rare times I did I didn't get cut. Same for phone. Internet does get cut extremely frequently at my poor location like I said, and not just split second cuts (lucky if the graph for downloads shows peak-trough-peak-trough, because most of the time it just dies/stays at 0 for ages).
Yes, at the first location other wifi networks are at much stronger signals (I just noticed this), and indeed more networks are usually detected.

However, it is because I have been using my own wifi (either Streamyx, Maxis, or P1 WiMax, and now Unifi) for so long in the same location with no disruptions or signal issues that I did not think of things like these.

Never had a problem with my Aztech router using Maxis 3G broadband (as you might know P1 WiMax and Streamyx have their own internet connection problems, period).

As for walls, the location is in a room above so there is a walls and door/window, while the better location is below (not line of sight, because of ceiling/floor), so I didn't think this would matter.

Thanks for your contribution. Sounds like this is a permanent problem to do with the DLINK POS. Bad news, because I HAVE to be able to use it from my usual spot.
*
I experience such problem at the first few days of my unifi experience. What i did was limit the connection in BT softwares(if u do use them), force my laptop into 802.11g mode(disable N) and also follow the guide to disable 40mhz and something like that in the router. It's still broadcasting at N though. From that onwards, dc problem is not so frequent. Sometimes just once or twice per day or not even once. This is just my way of doing it and I don't know why it solves my problem when i do so. Since 802.11g is 54Mbps, for 5Mbps UniFi, it's more than enough. You may try but I can't guarantee you anything. The best option is to go for the tp-link router.

So do all UNIFI users need to change to this TP-Link router?? How much izzit? if dont use it, i will have wireless DC all the time??  shocking.gif
*
Not all router is compatible and TP-link is the only company that involve themselves in developing the custom firmware for their router. The router itself cost RM89+- from lowyat or digital mall. I have not use it but all those who bought it said it has outstanding performance when compared to DIR615. It's fine to be knowing nothing on the router. Buy at lowyat, go to their office at top and they will help you flash it. Buy it and tell us ur experience. haha thumbup.gif

guys, got question here. i got bill from unifi via email. they not giving it by pos anymore? they charge me RM10 for stamp duty. and 1 more thing, u see the attachment

[attachmentid=2176146]

weird that they charge me from 15/4 to 21/4 but discount already. for next 22/4 to 21/5 they charge me RM149 but why discount RM114.23 only? i register unifi via online and they still charge me for the first month? can somebody explain it to me. thanks
*
The amount is correct la... They need to free you one month and that's why they discounted you RM147 in total. You need to include the first discount of RM33. Just think that YOU WILL GET A DISCOUNT OF RM149(ONE MONTH) then the maths is right. Do I just answered your question? FYI UniFi bill is pay per you use, not postpaid(pay after you use like streamyx)! The bill you receive for this month(example, april) will charge you the fee for april bill cycle. For your case, since ur cycle is on 21st of each month, they charge you the first month from the day your unifi install to the date of bill cycle and continue to charge another month till 21st May. For one month free, you got discounted RM147(~round off to 149 la...). That means you already got discounted one month and not being charged any installation fee. Everything is right. Just pay the bill.

SUMMARY: You get one month discount=RM149 rebate. TM gave you a rebate of RM147.87. Means you alreaady get one month free. Just pay RM34.77. No more argue on this. Get it?

If you mean the unit where the fiber/VDSL copper terminates, there's no use at the moment but the ports will be allocated to other ISPs in the future (Maxis, etc.)
*
Is that true??? Can that thingy handle so many massive connection at once? Lol...

Finally, after 1 month minus 3 days, TM comes over with a technician, replaces my HUAWEI box, and I'm back online. If they'd bothered to do this right away when I called them the first 4 times....
The tech guy told me I had to buy a notebook cooling pad and place the box on that, or it'll overheat and die again.
Can't believe they're giving out such crappy equipment...

Anyway, speed is good, so I'm happy. Wondering what cooling solutions you guys have been using, if any?

Call the 1300881221 number and wait for 10mins before someone entertains you. See what that fellow can do. Mine was up after my housemate called them. Maybe some sort of resetting port or what
