If new house 95% no problem but for old house u will need to check first as some of them use metal piping which will rust and could not withstand high pressure.

About the official installer for grundfos being irresponsible, he did not run the piping for ur whole house, he only install the pump for u. So, if there is leakage, it is not his fault and duty to rectify the problem.

What u can do now is get a good plumber to check where is the leak and to rectify it. U have this problem either they are using metal pipes or the previous plumber who installed the piping did not connect the pipes properly.

Thanks zheilwane for an opinion from a vendor standpoint. I can accept that but I would have thought as an official installer, he would have advised me on the risks and help to do some preliminary checks.
His installation of the pump also leaves much to be desired, it left three water patches on my 1st floor ceiling, need to repaint the ceiling now.

Anyway, I don mean to rant here, just wan the others to be aware of these so that they don go through the same pain as me.

actually, it is the responsibility of the grundfos dealer to explain it to u before u purchase the pump. When forumers PM me that they wanna install a pump for their old house, i do inform them about the risk before buying.
Did u tell the shop ur house is 9 years d?

Btw, if u did do some research online or read though this thread, there is a forumer who has the same problem as u but not as serious as urs.

FYI, it is impossible for plumbers to check whether the pipes could withstand the pump's pressure as the pipes are concealed.

Wiring and piping can't really have 100% check. Even new house have problem due to poor workmanship, and cutting corner of material.

I am only using a China made 0.5hp pump. Never have problem for 4 years now.

Anyway, just bypass the water tank and have the water supply go direct . Install a pressure tank after the pump if you have the budget. Tell your piping contractor, they should understand what the pressure tank is for.

Actually it's illegal. According to syabas guideline, u can only tap water after the water tank. Bypassing the water tank would risk contaminating syabas water source.

I have a question, if we 'off' the power of the water pump... will the water continue to flow down ?

if it is a new house, and it burst, u can get the developer to rectify it. It is consider as their defect.

There is no way to check ur piping.

Actually Grundfos do have a model that can control pressure. It is called Grundfos UNI E series.
This pump is like a mini system pump, it has a control panel that will adjust the water pressure level according to the preset level. Originally it is set to run at 2.5bar but you can adjust it to 2 - 3.5bar.

How this pump works?
The control panel controls the speed of the pump, if one person turns on the tap, it will run slowly, when another person turns on the tap, the pump will operates faster. Therefore, you will have constant pressure all the time.

A normal pump like the CH models will operate at maximum speed when someone turns on the tap, when another person turns on the tap, the pressure will drop a little.

Just drop by my showroom if you wanna have a look at the demo. For promotions, please join us in facebook

this seems like an AC pump. Do you have DC pumps that runs on 12V, 24V or 48V?

I m using hitachi pump, very noisy and also the pressure drops a lot when another person turn on the tap. Gonna move in to my new house soon and my contractor recommended Grundfos. Will grundfos have the same problem? any member can share their experience?

You can go for Grundfos CH2-50PC, it is sufficient to supply strong water pressure for 4-5 bathrooms at the same time. Grundfos is durable and silent.

You can get my promotion Grundfos CH2-50PC + Perfect Steel 10" Stainless steel filter = RM 2,250 without installation.

If u r looking for the best model, you can go for UNI E 4-50, it comes with a control panel, can control the speed of the pump. If u turn on the tap, the pump will start slow, then another person turn on the tap, the pump will move faster. Therefore, you will have constant water pressure and it will not give much pressure to your piping.
