QUOTE(emmanueljoshua @ Jul 22 2011, 12:48 AM) Hi, I would like to share my experience on purchasing a water pump (Grundfos).I am renovating my bathroom along the way there was a need to install a water pump to boost the pressure for my rain shower.I looked for information regarding water pumps and learned that Grundfos was the best available. So I went around to a few of dealers to see the pump and understand the mechanism etc. However, the sales person in all the shops I went to kept on saying "Don't ask why (Grundfos);just buy!!!) and I was not given the proper explanation. So I surfed the net and found out thru this forum all the details and questions regarding the pump that have been lingering in my mind.I contacted Zean who gave me a very detailed explanation on the workings of the pump as well as the installation. He even had a demo unit which actually said it all.I was very pleased to deal with him as he was confident and sure with the product. Therefore,I would like to advise all those who wish to purchase a domestic water pump..."Go see Zean and he'll tell you why (Grundfos)".I am now a proud owner/user of Grundfos CH 2-50 PC.Thank you Zean!!! Thanks bro. Grundfos is memang the best water pump, when u r doing reno make sure to get the right stuff, do it properly one time. May b next time can quote my nickname zheilwane instead of zean as some customers might b wondering who is zean haha This post has been edited by zheilwane: Jul 22 2011, 10:48 AM

Don't there there is any reference. Maybe Max pressure yes. Low pressure is personal preference and equipments you have.

Most of the water equipment like shower head etc have a min pressure requirement to function. And max pressure too before damage or burst your pipe. Or buying unneccessary pump to boost just base on the individual feeling that the water pressure is low. I think suppose to have a general guide water pressure for the house which people can measure about.

Pipes will not burst, if u got the right person to do your plumbing work, there is no way pipes will burst. For landed properties with 4-5 bathrooms the best pump to get is Grundfos CH2-50PC. Landed property will definitely have weak water pressure as the water flow down from the tank which is 1-2 story above your bathrooms, the gravity pressure is weak. Condo on the other hand have strong pressure bcoz the water tank is like 5-10 floors above your unit (depending which floor u r at), so the gravity pressure is strong and you will have strong water pressure. Want to gather more info and new tech. So make no mistake when time renovate come. I believe in logic and number. So just tell pressure low/high is like Infiniti to me. Getting a pump is an option to me.The running cost is my main consent. I still looking into gravity way to increase the pressure. I m getting some meter to check my bathroom and kitchen water pressure.

Yeah, the higher ur tank, the stronger the water pressure but will do that? Many plumbers and customers tried to boost water pressure by changing pipes to bigger ones, use direct water and etc but all of the methods do not work and a water pump is the only solution. Here is an example, the plumber advised my customer to change the piping near the water tank to bigger pipes, the connection for basin taps use PVC pipes instead of flexible hose. The total cost is RM 300+, here is what she got. This is what u can expect after installing a water pump. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=206...45528914&type=1This post has been edited by zheilwane: Jul 23 2011, 12:05 AM

In this case, I got to built a tower water tank. actually downstairs bathroom have a good pressure. Just incoming main and upstairs is lower pressure. And I have modify my house water system to have kickback system.

Too many elbow, corner, valve and incorrect piping size will reduce the pressure too.

even u have a perfect piping, the pressure is still weak as the water is flowing down from ur water tank only. As per the photo above, my customer did all the modification and water pressure increase by ard 5-10% only. Wasted RM 300+ and now goin to install a water pump
however, what is considered strong water pressure is also depending on personal preferences. Some might want to have strong pressure like hotels while some have reasonable pressure is OK d.
If u do not fancy rain showers or strong pressure like hotels then a pump is not required. But if u wan powerful water pressure and enjoys a relaxing shower after a hard day work, then installing a water pump is a MUST.

hey just wanna ask since its related to pump...
how do we actually upgrade the water tank side..
for those that is kept between the roof and ceiling ?
cause usually the height is equal to the space between the support roofing frame.. so if i want ta have a bigger tank how do i do it ?,
other than hooking up another tank ?

just get a bigger tank but that would cost u some $$ as u nd to remove part of ur roof and cut the frame in order to fit in ur tank. Jinxx, r u from KL?
Added on July 26, 2011, 5:55 pmYou could also put another tank at ur backyard.
