I got a question. I have 2 bathroom upstairs and running direct water from meter. So if one bathroom flush the toilet, habislah cannot take shower in the 2nd bathroom. I am thinking of installing grundfos but told by plumber that me house is >10 years old so afraid the piping might not tahan and leak or burst. Told better to change pipe. Pipe either outside the wall which looks ugly or kena hacking wall and tiles.

You think plumber is correct?
*
Direct from source usually the pressure are very high. My current house is double story, the direct pipe to top floor is very strong.

Some house get weak pressure because the incoming pipe already got build up inside. Or installed sand water filter which some brand (older version) reduce the pressure to ensure the tank don't burst.

I have a question...

my water tank is on top exposed to the sun, if I were to install the pump,..i need to install a power Socket... the socket will be
exposed to sunlight and rain.... do I need to install something to cover it ?
*
Pump can be in side the house. But if can't you need to run the cable from inside to the pump outside. Usually socket is not required, cause the on/off switch are from inside the house.

usually we would advise customers to prepare a switch to turn on/off the pump from downstairs but prepare a socket point at the top. So, when the person who install the pump or dismantle it next time, can just easily plug or unplug the wire. Grundfos pump comes with a socket.
*
Zheilwane, you got a point too.

Can install outdoor socket if that's the case.

My house will not have the socket, i will have to take out the plug, cause it install will be hard screw in a protective box. The box i have cost more than any socket. Is for heavy duty industry usage smile.gif

Wiring and piping can't really have 100% check. Even new house have problem due to poor workmanship, and cutting corner of material.

Want to gather more info and new tech. So make no mistake when time renovate come. I believe in logic and number. So just tell pressure low/high is like Infiniti to me.

Getting a pump is an option to me.The running cost is my main consent. I still looking into gravity way to increase the pressure. I m getting some meter to check my bathroom and kitchen water pressure.
*
Want to make gravity in work, lift your water tank by 4 to 5 feet, you see pressure increase.

hi guys, my parents new house using grundfos as well, not sure what model, i notice when its turned on. it makes noise..we have never used a pump before so not sure its normal. cos on a silent night you can actually hear it..its more like a softer pasar malam motor sound..hehe..and..is it recommended to turn on the pump 24x7 or turn it off when not using? appreciate your expert replies..
*
You only need to off it when no one at home for long, e.g. going out for holiday, weekend holiday. Some people off it during weekend working hours.

The bill not killing you for 24/7?
*
It will not operate 24x7. Is a pressure trigger, only switch on when tap is open.

Incoming from water heater need to be pressurized, so you need to have pump before going into the water heater.

Also advice from my friend that also use grundfos pump, don't use cheap plastic tap or rubber hose because it will crack often. He change 2 to 3 tap each year, and rubber hose (bidet hose). Now using brass / S.S tap no problem.

Can I ask why the water heater need to be pressurized? He is using the storage type. Not instant type.

Do the hot water need that high pressure since the mixing of hot water flow is less than the cold water. Something like 2:1 or 3:1 which cold water is more. If 1:1 probally the hot water is not that hot? hmm.gif
*
Depend on the piping configuration you may end up even lower / no water pressure to the water heater. E.g. If the tank only have one outgoing pipe and is connect to a T where one go to a direct water heater and another go to the pump, the pump may have suck all the water and you leave so little pressure to flow to the water heater. Another problem if the storage tank is install slightly higher than the water tank you have lots of problem.

An experience plumber will be able to advice you.

Also, the storage water heater run on 3Kwatt, it don't have adjustment so for a 10 mins bath the storage should have enough hot water.

And remember to put a bypass in case you need to service the water heater.

If base on my experiennce (half cook only blush.gif ) I will T out from the main before go in to the tank. Since it is a storage heater type, it don't need high pressure. The hot water always inside the tank. And with a 60 liter of hot water in the tank the pressure itself is enough to push. Have you see before those old house with a storage heater on top just beside the shower or just ontop bathroom?

When I visit those 4season country house, normally the hot water pressure is low. What I know is to save the hot water. Flowing high and fast will waste alot since hot water need energy to heat. And when you shower, you mix cold water more than the hot water. Something like 2:1 or 3:1 ratio depend how hot can you stand.

But I read alot that suppose the rain shower invent is to save water?
*
You have mixer tap to adjust the water flow also.
