this is so far the best proof that MBB is willing to absorb the RM50GST. But if they offer me this for my MBB Petronas or Amex Gold CC, it does not make sense because by spending RM3K with my Maybankard 2 Amex, I would be getting more in return than just RM50 to waive the GST.

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Mar 5 2011, 05:58 PM)
Hi,
I am currently using CIMB gold mastercard and it is going to expire soon. Will CIMB send the new card automatically or i have to request for it?

Also, it does not offer much benefits since it is not link to petrol rebates, the points redemption and pay-per-point item are limited and no more voucher redemption. Is it possible to request for the new card to at least be made linked to petrol rebates?

I have a CIMB saving account, so CIMB card is my only option for now. I been wondering if I can request for upgrade to their CIMB PETRONAS Mastercard (Platinum Card) although I do not meet the income requirement yet? I have good payment record.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
*
You can request for any card you want as long as you meet the card requirements. Best you call CIMB and request for upgrade and see what they say.

Click here to read my article titled Malaysia Credit Card Annual Income Requirement and Credit Limit.

Since you have a good track record, and if you have been holding a credit card for more than 1 year, you can easily apply for any other credit cards without submitting any documents ( thus you can walk into any bank branch or sign up for credit card at the malls). If you want for Petrol, best is OCBC where it cam be used at any petrol station. Click on the link at my signature below - Comparison of Cash Back Credit Card to read more on OCBC and other cards giving rebate on Petrol.

As many said, you don't need a savings account in a particular bank to have their card. Same thing also, you don't need a savings account with a bank to view your transactions online. Click here to read my article Maybank2U for Maybank Credit Cards - You Don't Need a Savings or Current Account.,e think

Silly me. My points redemption is the one gonna end soon at 10/11 while my card is valid until 9/13. I thought that it is more convenient to have same card with saving account so that can settle payment via cimbclicks easily. I will look thru the advices and also read up the linksbefore my next course of action. Will inquire further when in doubts. Thank you very much guys and gals :-)

Thank you Human Nature. My Credit Cards blog full of grammar mistakes and typos but I think people into CC don't really cares unlike my other blog called Ringgit Wise Fool where I take the trouble to proof read it.

Answering your questions:
- the 5% cash back on any transaction is only for weekend capped at RM50. true? Yes for the Maybankard 2 Amex only. No cash back for Visa/MC..

- do i get Treatpoints on weekends too? or only during weekdays? You get Treat Points Everyday for the Maybankard 2. Amex 5X Visa/MC 1X. The question yet to be confirmed is - do we get 1X point with our Visa/MC for petrol? AMEX confirm YES

- the Treatpoints cant be redeemed for cash, but can be redeemed for vouchers. true? True, unless you at 1U, you can use the Treats Points to convert to Rcubed to pay merchants like cash.

- is AMEX accepted by Petronas? Easier just to answer NO. But it has been reported by others that few Petronas accept AMEX inside the counter.

- Maybankard 2 MasterCards will be available from April 2011 onwards. Meaning can only get the AMEX+Visa pairing now, while for AMEX+Mstercard pairing, after april? Yes

Please bear with me, assuming i can use cimbclicks to settle my credit card statement of other banks, is there any service charge? Or to avoid the above quoted problem, is it advisable to open a Maybank account? This question Miles or Chemistry please reply.

To read more on the Maybankard 2 Cards, click below link to read my article on it. In it you will find link to Rcubed, merchants' card to compliment your CC and voucher redemption. Have you thought of changing to ESSO where you get extra 1.5% cash back and with Maybankard 2 Amex it is like getting 2.5% (voucher) + 5% cash back + 1.5% (Esso petrol) = total 9% return with the MBB Dua AMEX.

That's good. Is it in your monthly statement?

Anyway, I have few things to report

1. MBB only issue one single statement for my credit cards. Got my latest statement last week and found out I got charged for Late Payment (RM5) and Interest (RM0.01) because I paid to my MC account number instead of my Petronas acct doh.gif Called MBB CS last week and today checked online, the payment was transferred to the Petronas account and waiver for late penalty and interest were all done on the same day last week. I must say I am very happy with MBB thumbup.gif

Wonder if above will tarnish my CCRIS sweat.gif

2. Two month ago asked HLB CS to deduct my points to offset GST for my HLB Plat card. When I got my last statement, got a shocked that the CS (a guy) only deducted half the points and offset RM25 and I got charged interest mad.gif So called HLB CS (a lady) again last week and told them the problem and she said will do the necessary adjustment. Checked online today, HLB deducted my points to offset the other RM25 but interest still shown! So call HLB again to get it rectified. I am not surprised as from my previous experience, it will take me few phone calls to HLB to get matters in order.

3. I also just got my EON Bank Visa Signature statement and very happy to note that they gave me RM50 cash back for new card rclxm9.gif So for this year, I having the Visa Signature for FREE since annual fees is waived for the first year.

** Edited**

4. I almost forgot - since I was on the line with HLB CS, I asked about the Fortune card cash back. The CS confirmed that Petrol do get 1% cash back. And when you are issued a Fortune card, a new savings account will be opened with it (cannot deposit into existing account and I suppose this is because the interest earned is different) where the cash back will be deposited and you can go to counter and withdraw cash from the account.

for everyone's info

Oversea transactions on the same day

MBB2 Amex  05-Mar-2011 03-Mar-2011 US$60.00  RM186.59  3.10983

MBB Visa   05-Mar-2011 03-Mar-2011 US$117.53  RM360.33  3.06586
*
This is great info, finally. So the diff between MBB2 Amex and MBB Visa is 1.4342% or

If spend USD1000 with MBB Visa you can save RM43.97 or

If spend USD1000, in terms of voucher MBB Visa RM15.33 (0.5%) and Amex RM77.75 (2.5%) Diff = RM62.42

Conclusion based on above transaction: AMEX MBB Dua better!

But from my previous transactions with AMEX on the same day less than an hour apart, the rate not constant and can vary close to 1% Need to wait for wshoh to confirm again.

I used the MBB Visa plat (2 x TP) so the difference narrows down to just a few ringgit. Then it comes to whether the cardholders is willing to pay for their vouchers upfront tongue.gif
*
You are absolutely right. I forgot about MBB Platinum Visa/MC when doing the comparison. And thanks to you I went and applied MBB Platinum MC last year after you highlighted that it was giving 2X TP.

In my opinion, for overseas transactions, nothing beats MBB Platinum Visa/MC with 2XTP (unlike 1X TP for MBB Platinum Petronas and MBB 2 Plat Visa/MC). I would prefer to use MBB Platinum instead of waiting to get enough points to redeem for vouchers and I don't have any company reimbursing my expenses, haha

Also have mbb mc n petronas waiting to be cancelled

I won't say I have done intensive rsearch. I am just "crazy" into credit cards tongue.gif
What cards I have? Guess you too lazy to read all my posts, hahaha, Anyway, here are my cards (click below links to see photos or read article):
My Credit and Debit Cards in Nov 2010
EON Bank Visa Signature added to collection in Nov 2010
MBB Platinum MasterCard added to collection in Dec 2010.
Maybankard 2 Platinum Cards added to collection in Feb 2011

Well your collection pretty good too, CIMB and PB for BT, AMEX Auto Billing and CiTi Premier Miles for Airport Lounge.
Yah MBB Petronas change to MBB 2 biggrin.gif

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Mar 7 2011, 12:14 AM)
You forgot to include HSBC Premier World MasterCard in that table of yours.
*
Well the table in my post Malaysia CC Annual Income Requirement and CL do not list exclusive Premier Cards that need Privilege/Priority/Premier Banking accounts but in the article I did mentioned about HSBC Premier as follow:

There are still some exclusive credit cards out there available only by invitation such as CIMB Enrich World Master Card and RHB Visa Infinite and certain cards only available to Premier/Priority/Privilege Banking Customers such as HSBC Premier World MasterCard and Stand Chart Visa Infinite.

Now say you got a lot of money but for some reason you cannot proof your source of income (maybe you work in Singapore for example), there are still ways to get a credit card. One way is by opening a Priority/Premier/Preferred/Privilege Banking Account with banks where it automatically qualifies you for a Platinum credit card where the annual fee is usually free and the starting credit limit should be RM20K or more. But if you don't have a couple hundred thousand, you still can get a credit card with the credit limit you wish by pledging the same amount as the credit limit you want into FD with banks like OCBC Malaysia, Hong Leong Bank and Public Bank.

Wah RM288, makes me want to apply for it too. Years back I had a SCB Plat where I used less than RM20K with it and SCB refused to waive the annual fee in full so I canceled it. From then on never bothered with SCB. Nowadays is it easy to get annual fee waive in full for SCB Plat cards?

true, maybe will take your advise. No no no, must take your advise, free money.

Other than what you had mentioned, there is also the settlement rates which are way higher compared to Visa/Master, thus resulting in a much higher overall charges, 2.5% admin charges aside. But despite all the above, the RM50 cap on monthly rebates does not really makes it worthwhile to be used overseas as this translates into an extreme low spending cap of just RM1000 per month, which is unrealisticly low for overseas usage  blush.gif
*
Not necessary the case as in earlier calculation posted based on zenquix transactions. The AMEX even better than MBB Visa/MC. So with MBB Dua AMEX, I am sure it will beat other credit cards in terms of returns in voucher form. **Edited**

Too bad I can't use my dad's company but IF I really want the card I can still state my previous company since technically I am still a shareholder and helping them out on minor things without consideration. Just that when I reached that page I was like hmmm... The thing is besides the RM288 offer, I cannot think of another reason why I should get the SCB Plat card. Can someone tell me what I am missing with it... like a mini review. As for SCB business card, I think HLB Fortune beats it flat.

SCB VI no more! I couldn't get rid of the hefty AF for non-PB customer.

Now I hold DA VI instead, just for the 0% BT purpose. Talking about CIMB/DA VI, I am given to understand that CIMB is rebranding its VI, as we can see a series of newspaper advertisements on the newly-designed CIMB VI. Furthermore, I was informed that CIMB VI cardholders are also given 2x complimentary access to Plaza Premium Lounge at KLIA, LCCT and Changi Airport. It is indeed a good move as before this it did not make sense to own CIMB VI compared to CIMB VS.

You should get SCB Business Platinium instead of the conventional SCB Platinum.
0.5% cash back + 1x point (local) or 3x points (overseas). This is good for big swipe as there is no cash back cap.
You will be given UNLIMITED free access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge.
*
Thanks for the feed back.

But the thing is my cards already have following benefits

a) DA Visa Infinite give me 0.5% cash back already and I don't even use it.
b) Alliance Debit card also gives me 2% cash back but no money in account, haha
c) OCBC Titanium and MBB 2 AMEX I no need to mention lah
d) For no cash back cap - AMEX Gold Charge Card gives me 1.5% cash back with Turbo points. I don't have problems using AMEX somehow as merchants I go to mostly accept AMEX. But this year not going to enroll into Turbo since MBB 2 AMEX returns better.
e) For overseas I have either MBB Plat lowest conversion rate with 2XTP or
f) For overseas EON Bank 2X points plus 1% cash back and Medical Insurance and Travel Insurance RM2M
g) For access to Airport Lounges, I have Alliance Plat, UOB Plat, RHB Plat, RHB Premier Debit and EON Visa Signature

I cannot think of any extra benefit I can gain from SCB, that's why I am thinking to get it or not and then have to go cancel it and have to pay RM100 GST for two years.

so far use citibank plat cashback for fuel, DA Plat for groceries for since last yr.. my spendings are beyond 4k/mth and no owing or believe in paying single cents for interest to them but to gain moreon rebates and benefits .
*
DM3, I suggest you go read the terms and conditions, I too lazy to go read it today. I am sure Citi not so generous to give you 8% cash back.

But for spending RM4K a month, you have many options. CIMB is promotion not a permanent feature, better you go get OCBC Titanium (free annul fee and GST waiver) for groceries for example since you got Citi for fuel.

Even HLB Fortune/Essential 1% cash back better than Citi but both have annual fees and I personally I don't like cards that don't have auto annual fee feature. And both these cards no points system so are the banks willing to offer you waiver for GST?
