Long ago DA upgrade my Gold to Plat but I too had to submit documents to proof my income when I wanted to upgrade to WMC (that time no such thing as got HSBC RM40K CL get auto WMC else I just give HSBC statement).

QUOTE(staind @ Mar 1 2011, 08:17 PM)
I applied Maybank 2 Cards through their tele-marketing line at Bukit Jelutong recently after my paper application was gone missing. 10 minutes ago, I received a SMS from Maybank saying that my card was approved. Happily, I log in into my Maybank2u and found that instead of giving me Maybank 2 Card, they gave me American Express Gold Credit Card with increased CL from my previous Petronas Gold. They increased my Petronas Gold CL also.  vmad.gif

Just called their customer service. Tomorrow the sales person will contact me back. I remember Gen-X did warned against applying your card there. The warning however, came too late for me as I already applied that time. Totally agreed with him. DONT EVER APPLY THROUGH THEIR TELE-MARKETING DIVISION.
*
well I did mentioned it in Mid January when I reviewed MBB Dua and mentioned the probability of error happening is less when we submit forms since we got to tick which card we want. Call CS and request they withdraw the application AND go download the form and fax to them.

Anybody got face this situation before? You apply for Maybank2 CC and ask for Mastercard but they give u Visa instead? I told the customer service officer this and was willing to wait till April for MasterCard but they gave me a Visa now. Aaiii..pening.
*
Many have reported that they got they MBB Dua by simply clicking "I am Interested" online or just by enquiring about it thru the CS. If you do not want the card, then call CS now and tell them.

Actually, when we apply for a card thru the phone, the conversation is supposed to be recorded, at least that should be the case when we apply through MBB tele-marketing at Bukit Jelutong.

MBB press release said they targeting 500K new cardmembers. I believe MBB will eventually have 500,000 new Maybankard 2 cardmembers by year end but by mid next year their actual card base will only increase by 100,000 cardmembers compared to today as the remaining 400K Maybankard 2 card holders will cancel their MBB Petronas Plat/Gold, MBB Visa/MC Plat/Gold, MBB Sony, Amex Gold CC, Amex Gold Charged Card, Amex Platinum and etc etc. They should have made it a requirement that in order to have the Maybankard 2 Cards, one have to hold a MBB card, then guaranteed they will get 500K new card holders. Why the banks don't want nobody asked my opinion? hahaha

Click here to read my post on MBB wanting 500,000 new cardmembers with Maybankard 2 cards. Added my above comments to my post in my blog smile.gif

Thanks. Maybe I should have mentioned this earlier on. My bad.

I walked in a Maybank branch and applied through an officer. She wrote down that I wanted Mastercard and I was willing to wait till April in black and white. And now I got Visa.

Aaii..but wonder if it is worth the hassle to change to MC. Is there much difference between Mastercard and Visa?
*
Like that also can ar. Call CS if you really don't want the Visa. For day to day use, no diff between Visa and MC in general, very seldom we come across in Malaysia where the merchant only accept MC unless the merchant have MBF terminal.

Clcik here to my post on credit card CS contact numbers. If you don't want refer to my blog, call Amex Toll Free at 1800-88-9559 24 hours.

Hahaha, see many people interested to enter Premier Toilets at Gardens. All lazy take escalator to go upper floor. I was there last weekend, someone actually paid RM5 to enter the Premier Toilet to shit as I overheard him saying upper floor toilets occupied!
As long as you can show a credit card with the word Platinum you can go in for free. You can also enter with Isetan and Robinson card.

QUOTE(hye @ Mar 2 2011, 08:43 AM)
Don't be lazy. You could get most of the information for the first page. And the OCBC campaign has been discussed before ... there's a function called "Search".
We do not intro banks here ... you need to understand your needs, spending patterns, income and match it with the credit card that you are eligible for.

You are right, we should have template like in Phone Section and Garage Sale. From there we can recommend/suggest based on one's requirements.

I have my AMEX Gold CC registered with M2U but I cannot see my other cards. If I not lazy, I will go to MBB and try register again all my other MBB cards and see what happens.

@MilesAndMore It is indeed possible to link up your credit card(s) issued by Maybank to Maybank2u even though you only hold their credit cards and do not have any savings or current account with Maybank. I know because I just did, today (2.3.2011). And mind you, you really need to persevere to get this simple thing done.
Warning: Rant ahead

wshoh, thanks for sharing. I too have M2U for my Amex Gold CC and no SACA with MBB. So if I want to link my other MBB cards, I have to physically go to a branch that have personnel that knows how to link them or it is very easy were any idjit can do it?

Initially in the morning plan to go MBB branch but ended up writing a new post (where I can go on and on and on on something that is very simple, haha) on My Wife's Application for Maybankard 2 Cards. She received 2 pairs of MBB Dua today! I did mentioned about her application in my earlier post in respect of my My Application for MBB Dua where her application was "rejected". Will post it tomorrow after I fine tune as much as I can tonight on my grammar and typos smile.gif

Just as I guessed not in Malaysia. That explains it because there's no Poslaju in SG. Maybe next time you should mention it earlier. There is no diff between Petronas Ranking and MBB Dua as both "same" i.e. FREE. I have mentioned which card grants you entry to Private Banking Centres. Go check MBB website and you can confirm it yourself.

You will need to visit a MBB Branch whose staff is willing to step into uncharted territories...and who will attempt to get things done, even if he/she has never experienced the problem before. Just fill in a form and produce your NRIC. I blame the spoon-fed syndrome for the inept staff at Menara Maybank HQ.

Anyway, if the Kompleks Mahkamah Kuala Lumpur branch at Jalan Duta (which did the credit card accounts linking for me) is convenient to you, do go there after 10:30 AM - otherwise, parking may be scarce. Court now sits at 9:00 AM again wef 1.3.2011 (previously, 8:30 AM).
*
Thanks but I guess I'll definitely won't be going to the branch you mentioned just to register for MBB online. But you gave me an idea, if the staff don't know how to do it, I will ask them to call their Jalan Duta branch. I must go search their phone number. You can remember the officer's name?

Actually last week I went to MBB to get my MBB cards link to M2U but had to wait so did not do it. Today went to a different branch as wanted to change autodebit for my wife's celcom acct and there was a MBB branch there. Walked in and was greeted by a young friendly exec and I told him I want to link my MBB cards. He has never done it before for people without SACA but he say will try. When he went into the system he could detect the system showed I had 2 accounts where my all my Platinum cards and my Amex gold Charge Card were linked to my Old IC AC and my Amex Gold CC linked to my new IC. So I told him to link all my Plat cards (Petronas, MC, M2Amex and M2Visa) to one new account since I am going to cancel the Gold Amex CC.

Well, this young chap managed to link all four of my Plats on the first try, After he said he done it, I went to ATM to register for M2U with my MBB Plat MC. After this, went back to the guy and he printed out my records to show me all four cards linked to M2U. After this I went online with the branch's PC and registered "first time login" and when I click Account Info - all four cards were shown rclxm9.gif

So, as what wshoh said, MBB can link all your cards to M2U even without you having SACA. I guess the young guy that serviced me was more computer savvy biggrin.gif

My wife decided to get a MBB Debit Card for her online shopping so she opened a SA with RM250 and linked her MBB Dua card to her account.

Currently looking to apply a cc asap with min doc required. Preferable only ic and cc copy doc submission to apply the card. Any bank suggestion?

PS: i have mbb & pbb
*
you wouldn't have any problems getting other CC since your card is more than 18 months. No documents are required. Just go to the malls where there are tons of agents willing to accept your application. Even if you go to the bank, with your MyKad and current CC they will accept your application.

Fine, if they give me Gold Card. But my CL still 7k. Because my old MBB petronas gold is 7k CL only. WTF, i submitted all my payslip and they never bother to increase my CL. What for i am holding 3 cards but CL only 7k? Pay my insurance already over 7k. MBB is really sucks. Very angry now and thinking to cancel MBB 2 cards even though i havent receive the cards

Call CS now and said you applied for Platinum Cards.

As for CL, not necessary they will increase your CL when you got a new card approved AND MBB standard where all your MBB cards share same CL.

Besides you not wanting the card you want and also people reporting that they were issued AMEX Gold CC instead of Maybankard 2 Cards.

If you had read my post in my blog, I have informed all that my application was being process for MBB Dua Gold when I wanted Plat. Luckily I followed up on my application.

To those going to apply for credit cards with MBB, my advise is to follow up on your application 3 days after you apply and not more than 7 days to check what is in MBB's system. Call Amex 1800-88-9559 and tell them "I have applied for the MBB Dua, can you please check my application status i.e. is my application being process and if yes when it started and secondly what card is being process. Good to be kiasu.

QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Mar 4 2011, 04:06 PM)
Erh, not sure about your example but the 2.5% admin charge is on top of the forex rate whence compared to other card which effectively negates the 5x points, assumed to be equivalent to 2.5% rebate. Thus, after taking into consideration the higher forex itself, the effective rates would be more unfavourable. Further, this does not even take into account double conversion rate, if the foreign currency is not USD, plus how can we ensure we only spend on weekends? Oh, the RM50 per month cap means 5% cashback only good for upto RM1000 of spending  rclxub.gif
*
Why would Amex (not Maybank card) Forex rate be higher than our local banks? Can you enlighten me how Amex's conversion rate works? If not mistaken Amex got their own bank in US but not here.

From my tabulation in 2009, Amex does not necessary charged 2.5%. When I was in US in 2009 at Universal Studios where I used my Amex 3 times, and the rates varied between 1.57% to 2.53% rclxub.gif Click below link to my blog to view the transactions.

Click here to see some overseas conversion rates in 2009 for Alliance, HSBC, MBB, AMex and UOB. To note Alliance no more competitive as now they do charge admin fee of 1%

In my opinion - If you are using any other Cards besides Maybank Visa/MasterCard, Maybankard 2 American Express may be even better than non MBB CC with the 5X TP. Once again see above table in the link.

What I want to see is someone posting their overseas transactions on the same day same time using both Maybankard 2 Amex and Maybankard 2 Visa, so that we can confirm once and for all which is better to use after considering the 5X and 1X TP.

Anyway, I just got my MBB statement, and the difference between MBB MasterCard vs Visa in SG was negligible unlike Alliance Visa vs Alliance MasterCard. Will post my transactions in SG with Alliance MC, DAWMC, MBB Visa and MBB MC in my blog once I incorporate it into my earlier post on Overseas Transactions in 2010. Click here to see conversion rate in SG in 2010 using MBB, Alliance, OCBC and CIMB.

This is a good question to ask. When people comment that Amex exchange rate is higher than Visa/MC, they usually don't remember that Amex does charge higher admin rate than Visa/MC.
*
Maybe my statement is misleading. I am not talking about admin fee but on the forex rate itself i.e. Amex Forex Rate higher than MBB, SCB, HSBC, UOB, ABB, etc? Or these banks rate is based on Visa/MasterCard Forex Rate (where I suppose they would also charge an admin fee) and then the banks charge a 1% on top of the converted amount by Visa/MC. I really don't know how we are actually being charged when a Bank states that there is an Admin Fee of 1%

After reading above, I make myself confuse, hahaha

tgeoklin- mind to elaborate on how our transactions overseas are converted finally to RM.

Going back to your earlier comment above. The thing is many here know for a fact that AMEX charges the highest admin fee for overseas transactions BUT with 5X TP, they will definitely use the Maybankard 2 Card for business expenses instead of their Maybankard 2 Visa since they will be reimbursed. Question to ask is are these people willing to use the Maybankard 2 Visa over the Maybankard 2 AMEX to save the company some money? If I am the boss of my company, I will issue a memo to all to use only MBB Visa or MBB MC for overseas transactions, ahahaha. If you read the postings here and in AMEX Thread on overseas transactions, most people spending their own money will use Maybankard 2 Visa over the Maybankard 2 Amex.

For me, the best card to use overseas are my MBB Platinum MC where I get the lowest conversion rate and 2X TP or my EON Bank Visa Signature giving me also 2X points plus 1% cash back smile.gif

QUOTE(charymsylyn @ Mar 4 2011, 05:53 PM)
Thus based on the factors I mentioned earlier, it's not difficult to make a case that MBB 2 Amex isn't as poor for foreign usage as some forumers here claim.
*
If comparing Maybankard 2 Amex to to other non MBB cards, yah, above may be true considering the 5X TP.

May not be correct but I was under impression it was X -> USD -> RM

The admin charge would be charge at the RM part but u lose a bit in the first transaction as well.

Added on March 4, 2011, 8:01 pm
Actually my experience is it follows the local time (non-Malaysian time) i.e. a transaction made in 2 Mar US time and 3 Mar MY time shows 2 Mar as transaction date in M2U
*
Your flow chart easier to understand notworthy.gif I will now admend it as follow

Day Forex USD/MYR --> Visa/MC x (admin fee) = A --> A x (local bank admin fee)?

Day Forex USD/MYR --> Amex x 2.5% ??

Anyway, I take my word back on the EON Visa Signature, I never had to chance to use my Visa Signature for overseas transactions together with MBB Visa/MC but I just check on a USD transaction did in January as follows:

EON Visa Signature Transaction on 2 Jan 2011 Posting Date 3 Jan 2011

VS USD533 MYR1674.42 Rate = 3.141595

Qanda USD/MYR 3 Jan 2011 rate = 3.04526 Therefore with Eon VS the diff is 3.1634%
BNM USD/MYR 3 Jan 2011 rate = 3.0645 Therefore with Eon VS the diff is 2.5157%

Wah, the EON VS conversion rate very high blink.gif

I must use the EON Visa Signature with MBB together for overseas transaction next time to see diff but I guess MBB would still be better even if I were to consider EON VS 1% cash back.

Just posted my experience in signing up for M2U for my Maybank platinum credit cards i.e. MC, Petronas and MBB Dua where all 4 cards are linked into a single M2U username without me having a Current or Savings Account with MBB. hi, i am applying for the HLB Fortune card with 1% cash back. Any comments on this? whether it is good or not? is there a minimum amount of usage in order to get the cash back?
*
You can go to CC V14 starting from post #106 to read more about the Fortune card.

Below is what I commented in CC V14 in respect to HLB Fortune, I just copied it and paste here with some amendments for your easy reference.

1) As mentioned by winner, hye and myself - the HLB reward system is complicated. And based on what I understand, I have shown you that it only gives the most 0.1% extra (can be even 0.001% because it is based on daily interest at 10%p.a.) from your transactions. I would said even Alliance You:nique or Alliance Plat can be better than HLB Fortune.

2) In order to withdraw the cash earned and 10p.a. interest on your cash back, you need to go to the ATM, and you only can withdraw RM10 and RM50 notes from ATM so balance still with HLB and what you earn from them cannot be utilized in full.

3) as far as I am concerned, the Fortune = Essential with promotion.

4) Fortune card do not appeal to those earning RM30K and above. It will attract those who spend minimum RM38K a year and if you are earning like RM40-RM50K pa, I doubt you will benefit much from the annual bonus because if you do then you'll be spending more than you can afford to or you charged all your company expenses to the card.

5) Complicated Bonus - RM280m RM880 and RM1,800. To enjoy maximum returns from the annual bonus, you are going to complicate your life.

bonus RM280 for spending RM38K to RM67,999 - or returns of 0.4118% to 0.736842%
bonus RM880 for spending RM68K to RM107,999 or 08148% to RM1.294118%
bonus RM1,800 for spending 108,000 you will get 1% or less

so actually from the above, the more you spend, most likely you end up getting less % in returns! If you spend RM216,000 a year, then your bonus is equivalent to 0.5%, spend more than that, the % reduces further. So not necessary good for big spenders i.e. more than RM10K/month. If you know exactly how much you going to spend with the Fortune card, say for example insurance premiums > RM38K/yr best if exactly RM68K/yr, then the card may be good.

If above makes you confuse, then it is a good reason not to get the Fortune card, hahaha

Would recommend that you look into OCBC Titanuim MasterCard where you get 5% for petrol, dining, groceries and utility bills and the rest 1%. Click below link to my article on OCBC Titanium MC where I have a table comparing OCBC Titanium to HLB Essential and Citibank Platinum Cash Back.
