It's been a month since you asked. Might want to make up your mind since you only have ~1 month to go.

Just go to the counter, pay RM8K via cash or debit card & you're good to go. As long as you have a kid, you get to claim that 8K for tax relief, which should be automatically populated for you in 2019's tax e-filing.

If you don't have a kid, then no tax relief.

Withdrawal is pretty straight forward. Just go to the PTPTN office, inform them you would like to withdraw your SSPN deposit. If you withdraw all, that's equivalent to closing account. Leave RM20 inside the account if you want to maintain it. The withdrawal will go into the bank account that you provide them in the withdrawal form.

You can also setup either Bank Rakyat or Bank Islam that ties with your SSPN account & this allows you to withdraw via ATM but IMO, it's troublesome.

You can withdraw any time you want. If you're looking to apply for PTPTN in the future, then it's a must for you to have a SSPN account in the first place.

If you're not convinced with PTPTN / SSPN's reliability then by all means avoid it. I understand your frustration but I think you'll have to accept both the pros & cons as a package if you're looking to gain benefit from depositing into SSPN.

Technically that SSPN account still belongs to you so yea, you can definitely link it to your BI account. After all, when you withdraw it, it's not like you're required to bring your kid or his / her NRIC along.

Does that automatic population in your tax filing really that important? If it isn't automatically populated, you can still type out that 6K or 8K by yourself right?

You're welcome. Frankly speaking, I think you might be better off withdrawing everything since you seem to have a lot of dissatisfaction with how SSPN works. Your expectation certainly doesn't match the level of service PTPTN is capable of providing you.
