Gonna put the rad at the intake's position so have to relocate the HDD's to the 5" bays instead and since I have only 4 x 5" bays in total, need to create a cage to save space and the dampened the vibration.

Pump's gonna be at the bottom of course.

Thinking of the shortest route being pump --> VGA --> CPU --> rad --> T-line.
*
biggrin.gif .. you mean just like the sargeant's set up? brows.gif Yup good idea in shortening the line... since it's a closed loop set up, pressure will be the same at all point.. thus shortening the line is a very good idea.

The VGA->CPU thinggy... 're you sure about this? meaning dumping the heat from VGA to CPU. sweat.gif

finally wellcome to the water clan, mr ikan. thumbup.gif, so done fixing the block yet?

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Dec 15 2005, 05:46 PM)
I'm just curious here...anything wrong with NOT placing the pump on the lowest part of the loop?
*
IMHO... there's nothing wrong with it if it's a closed loop... only initial problem when adding liquid to the loop... such as, to get the liquid to the suction head while defying gravity... sweat.gif sweat.gif.... and might lost some discharge pressure due to the work done by the impeller to suck the liquid... but when the loop is running with zero bubble it's gonna be business as usual... why you ask? wanna put the pam/apam on the top of casing is it?

newbieockids@ the chevy heatercore is the same as Danger Den's single heatercore. I'm afraid it's not easily available through any "kedai potong" cause most continental and japs heater core need to mod the barbs.

O.T. it's really great to see the numbers of w/cooling enthusiasts are increasing. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

DD TDX wb, BIX 2 rad, cheap tubing, and a nirox p2800 pump.

U think its okay if i get a wb for my loop? wat block should be good for a 6600?
*
That's an impressive "Budget" watercooling set. brows.gif biggrin.gif ,

6600 w/block depends on yer budget oso, wanna good want like uzairi said get the DD Maze 4, wanna a cheap one get the aquarius one.

all thanks to ur advice amok...  thumbup.gif

the maze4 looks good but mahal la... mebbe i'll go for the aquarius, but from a review i read it said that the the water channel in the WB is only abt 5mm deep and since i'm using 1/2" tubing it might kill the flow rate..

what do u guys think?

edit: can my nirox handle a TDX and a GPU block?
*
hrmmmm.... depends on the loop, if cpu block->gpu block ->res->pump i'll guess it will do, but the BIX2 larrr, what fan?

Any idea where can get tubing slicon? And which one good for liquid? Battery water or coolant + water?
*
Tubing? ace hardware got a few decent tubes, kedai hardware... most clear tubes are silicone, rubber one mostly water hose and condoms.

IMHO opinion Distilled water or UV filtered water (the one that kills most living organism), where to get? ayo... battery water will do then... coolant depends which type, car radiator is not that good wif pc wcooling..

I think the BIX2 is okay la. got 1 NMB and 1 nidec beta triblade. now i'm using one fan only and its quite cool.
u guys think can tahan?

and will the TT aquarius really restrict flow? cos its channel width is quite small right?
*
BIX2 needs high cfm fans to perform, otherwise even a BIP can vegetize(mensayurkan) the BIX2.

regarding TT aquarius... if you're in doubt bout the pressure drop, i'd suggest get a higher heads pump... one that can do 3.1m Hmax... but why not just give a try first with the nirox cause i'm a bit vague about your set up, if got pics brows.gif

QUOTE(ikan_semilang @ Dec 25 2005, 07:48 PM)
Isn't true? That's means just using battery water la. tongue.gif
*
biggrin.gif biggrin.gif .. correctomondo mr ikan... most of the old timer w/cooler just use plain distilled water (pharmacy) or uv filltered water.. but when terdesak, battery water will do.

got any difference in temps for only using battery water without extra additives like car radiator coolant?
*
well, from prior experience.. with automotive additives temps are higher about 1~1.5 C... bear in mind that automotive additives are meant for anti-rust, anti-boil and anti freeze... it will of course effect the liquid properties in terms of viscocity, specific heat cap., etc... the list goes on and on..

hurm.... i guess might be pumping out my current coolant right now and replace with distilled water...

distilled water = ~~ RO water mesin tepi kedai (20 sen per liter) issit?
*
RO water???? what's R. O. stand for? Rip Off?

Distilled water is pure demineralized water which means it's pure H20 without any nutrients(which not good for drinking). It's a bit expensive last time I've got it about RM12 per 4 gallon bottle.

Mebbe the "mesin tepi kedai" Rip Off water is filltered water, check wheter it got UV bathing filtered, if got than thumbup.gif thumbup.gif you're good to go mebbe i'll try it myself 20sen per litter... hrmm ....

yup, in front giant supermarket.. bot it there. but actually prices there anything more expensive than typical hardware shop.. only go there to buy the tube as no where else sell it.
anybody have an idea how to remove the text along the tube? uv effect will be much better if the text is not there imho...
*
hehey brader... long time no see... I thought you naik haji. biggrin.gif , good to see you again, and still using the 486DX rig brows.gif yes the 486DX clan still lives.

How thick is the tubing wall, if about 2mm then it's safe to use thinner on a damp cloth and wipe it off. If less than that, i'm not sure safe or not, cause it etch the tubing wall... soak the tube in soap water after wiping the marking off... but your tubing might be a bit dull.

wanna ask a question to you guys notworthy.gif

a fast water flow can repert a cycle in very fast time,
a slow water flow can takes more heat to the rad in every cycle.

i know sometime the performance is based on the design of a water block. So i listed out 3 blocks for discussion :

1. DD : TDX
2. DD : RBX
3. Asetek Waterchill:: Antartica

Based on your own exp and opinions,
Might to give me some ideas on waterblock in the list above like fast or slow water flow??? why???

Evogenix
*
Sorry Evo, most of us don't have the liberty of having those 3 w/blocks at one time or one at a time sweat.gif , if i'm not mistaken there are some reviews or round up/shoot out for those three w/blocks somewhere in the net.

And I think most of the tips and tricks regarding w/blocks, pumps etc. are already there in the pinned section compiled by the sargeant.

O.T.: and soon... metalzone bulk will complete, and this w/cooling comunity expands... fresh meat, fresh meat, fresh meat... ooppss whistling.gif

QUOTE(almostthere @ Jan 2 2006, 03:09 AM)
CPU WaterBlocks

1. Swifteh Storm - 75USD - this is the top performing waterblock currently in retail. It is better suited to more powerful pumps, but still performs well with low flow/power pumps.

2. Swiftech MCW6002/6000 - 45USD - for low power/flow pumps these waterblocks are top performers.. with moderate restriction these waterblocks matched with low power pumps will net decent flow to allow usage of a second waterblock

3. Cooltechnica MP-05 - 50-65USD - a high restriction waterblock with excelent performance. while it does not outperform the Storm per pump power, its lower pricetag makes it an attractive choice.

4. Danger Den TDX - 52USD - while a good waterblock, it is not an optimum choice of waterblock for a high or low power pump system. I list it merely for completeness of the guide.

5. Danger Den RBX - 52USD - Again, a good waterblock, but not worth considering unless you have some desire for a 3 barb waterblock.

6. WhiteWater LE (all coper version) - 44USD - Origionaly designed by Cathar, this 3 barb waterblock performs well, but uses a dated design and is not optimal for maximum performance.

taken from my tips and tricks sticky..pretty accurate analysis
*
sweat.gif sweat.gif .... So far the best w/block in terms of availability, bang for bucks, and design is still Swifty Storm G4 by Cathar/Stu.... A G5 Little River is a bit beyond my reach...

QUOTE(JZZZZZ @ Jan 3 2006, 02:01 PM)
where u get the cyber aqua water pump??And how much aslo?? cool.gif
*
JZZZZZ, welcome to the watercooling comunity thumbup.gif ... The Cyber Aqua is a pond pump, which you can get at most aquarium shops... it's an ok pump but I'm not recommending it to newbies, cause of the 70W heat dump, oni in the hand of an old skool watercooler can it be fully utilized... you have to innovate your ways in dispersing the heat dump.

Oh, by the way i've just got back my VGA from RMA.. now to finish the Storm G4 test... watch this space.

O.T.: HEY! HEY! we've got our own xtreme cooling sub forums now thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thanx soul brader.

anather question :
if a powerful pump under high preassure for 24/7 usage, will this reduce its lifespan?

Evogenix
*
No. it won't. The pump will last forever and ever, it will out lived you, your grandchildren and their grandchildren and their..... biggrin.gif .. joking oni.. each pump came with a lifespan per rated usage, e.g. 50,000 hrs etc. (come to think of it it's just like those hsf).. and each pump are design for specific work which is shown by their Qmax (flow max) and Hmax (Heads Max), if it is being use to do work greater than the max Q or H, it just can't do it, simple as that.. so regarding lifespan, let say it's rated 50,000 hrs then 50,000 hrs it is wheter ON 24/7 or once a week or once a month or once every full moon, lifespan still 50,000 hrs.. I took the liberty of answering this question cause i don't think it's been asked berfore. rolleyes.gif

Just for fun and to show how 1337 a Storm G4 can be, I swapped my Barton M 2600+ (Sad to see it go) with a 2200+ (T-Bird B me thinks). Was pleasantly surprised as how well the Storm performs. At stock voltages (which aren't stable enought for massive loads), idle was 35C and load was 37C, with ambient temps of about 27C. Quite good I must say as previously in a room of ambient 24C, and using a Tt Volcano 12, the best it could do at full rpm and a thouroughly lapped base was 45C idle and 53C load.
