Did sort of similar test back when i just get liquid cooling
Load temperature drop about 14 C or so from air cooling
It was a Xigamtek HDT1283 Lapped + 250CFM Fan to a Dtek Fuzion V2,Nirox P2800 Pump,MCR220 Radiator,1/2" ID Generic Tubing and Swiftech Micro Res
Rig spec was E8400 C0@4ghz 1.37V or so if my memory serve me correct

Hope to share some of my questions here n hope to get any comment or advice.

1. Can somebody share with me, besides the ability to connect different size of tubings in a line, what is the other reason of using compressing fitting in terms of practically but not asthetically.

2. I've seen many modders like to use compression fittings or, degreed rotary fittings between the connection of C.P.U. waterblok and MOSFET waterblock and chipset waterblock.

3. Is there any reason to use compression fitting to connect a 1/2" ID tube to a G1/4" fitting?

4. I'm currently using the 1st gen Apogee waterblock on my LGA775 (Pentium D 920) but upgrading to LGA1366 (i7 975), should I keep on using this block with compatible back plate or upgrade to Apogee XT? Would I be able to decrease the temp. significantly by upgrading the c.p.u. waterblock to a higher performance 1?

5. For R3E, do I really need to liquid cool it?

Thts it in 1 go, sorry for asking too many questions in 1 shot.  notworthy.gif

1. u get absolute security with the compression fitting. sometimes when we wanna adjust the tube or even bend the tube slightly to connect to another component, u can be sure the tube won't suddenly pop out from the otherside.

2. the reason is simple. the inlet/outlet are just too close. there's no way that u can curve your tubing without creating kink, which could restrict the flow. I've learned it the hard way, the kink will eventually trap bubble.

3. er.... i don't see any of point of doing that. correct me if i'm wrong.

4. can u find the compatible back plate? if u can, then go ahead. u won't see too much of a temp difference with XT, it's still a WB bro! it's gonna caned all other coolers regardless but since ur gonna fork out some money to buy the backplate and going through the trouble reinstalling your loop, why not just get XT then?

5. u mean the chipset of R3E? oh hell yeah, it decreases the NB and the digital PWM temp tremendously. lower chipset temp means that u can go even more extreme oc

Thank You Sir notworthy.gif for the advices.

hmm.gif Since U suggested tht by changing to a higher performance waterblock wouldn't really decrese the c.p.u. temperature significantly, what if add a X-Changer 360 (low F.P.I.) or a Black Ice GTX Gen 2 Xtreme 360 (high F.P.I.) to my existing MCR-240 radiator, would tht be better than to replace the waterblock since the price gap between both the mentioned radiators n the Apogee XT is not too far?

I believe the optional mounting kit for socket 1366 of the Apogee GT, AP-GT-CI7, is compatible with Apogee since both waterblocks r identical in dimensions besides the internal of the copper base plate. Juz tht I'm not sure whether they r still producing this mounting kit.

doh.gif forgot 2 inform bout the GTX295 has been part of the liquid cooling loop notworthy.gif . So, a 360 radiator or Apogee XT?

Other than EK, is there any other options on the R3E waterblock?

The Feser 360 or Thermochill would be a good choice but stay away from Black Ice smile.gif It's never a popular and good radiator, we all know they don't sell. For the price you pay, there's obviously better choices compared to that.

Maybe you can wait for Bitspower to come up with their block.

Brader Ong, so how? I have limited budget to expand the liquid loop , wanna help me make decision? Radiator or waterblock?

If I'm going for radiator, how m I gonna find the AP-GT-CI7 LGA1366 mounting kit for the Apogee?

How about getting a CPU block first then change the radiator? biggrin.gif You just need an Apogee XT, it comes with all Intel mounts. If you want radiators, I have the well known XSPC soon biggrin.gif They are coming to me and everyone else that are interested in it tongue.gif The XSPC pwns Feser if we look at certain reviews but for me, I never rely on them as self experience is the best way to tell. I intend to get one for myself soon.

I guess many would hv already known that the Black Ice GTX Gen 2 Xtreme 360 is most of the time more expensive than the X-Changer 360 huh. Any1 had bad experience with this Black Ice GTX Gen 2 Xtreme 360? Mr. Ong? I know it's Philippine made but I'm kindda like the Black Ice GTX Gen 2 Xtreme 360 due to it's thick and high f.p.i. design meant for high c.f.m. fans.

Any1? Radiator of waterblock?

This Mr. Ong is convincing me to build a RM10K cooling system. Aku mau report polis da ni. mad.gif

Aren't U talking bout the RX series radiator? Despite thick in dimension but the RX has low f.p.i. design which I'm not kindda fun on it.

if it's the feser 360 rad, no problem bro. just make sure u have high cfm cans installed on the rad, u will be fine with that setup for sure

depends on the radiator as well i guess .
well, im not saying that black ice GTX series is not good, but it sure is not the silent operation type .
im using the 480 version and will be paired up with yate loon d12sh12 .
would be good enough though .

anyway, rad has their rated heat dispersion rate .
some has bigger some has lower, but iinm, the black ice GTX series has the biggest heat dispersion rate .

Only Feser?

Feser has low f.p.i. cooling fins if I'm to use Feser I would rather go for quite fan instead of high c.f.m. fan cuz I'm kindda believe low f.p.i. radiators r more suitable for watercooling modders who prefer quiter operation.

Which 1 would u prefer? low f.p.i. radiator with quite fan OR high f.p.i. radiator with high c.f.m. fan?

Urs is the 1st gen GTX (Black Ice Xtreme) or the Black Ice GTX Gen Two Xtreme? 20 f.p.i.? How high is the dispersion V'r talking bout.

It can be used in Stealth mode 1 ma, can't it?

How do U find the build quality of it?

The D12SH-12 generates only 88 c.f.m. n yet kindda noisy at 40dBA. Eik, vat is the static pressure of this fan huh?

Y not U consider using the Scythe SY1225SL12SH (1,900 rpm version), more than 110 c.f.m. but at lower 37dBA.

Not to mention 40dBA, even at 37dBA I don't feel comfortable dy, my PC is located at the living room, sometimes wanna take a short nap also cannot due to the noise frm the fan.

well i think i saw a review last time saying this 480 is capable of handling 800W of heat .

well i chose yate loon because it has better static pressure .
that's a better choice for radiator cooling as well as heatsink .
scythe slipstream is not a very good choice for radiator .
better go with gentle typhoon instead .
its proven, u can google around and see the result ^^,

yate loon is considered reliable fan for radiator alongside with scythe gentle typhoon .

mine is the GTX <-- Gen Two Xtreme .
difference is one is Black Ice Xtreme and 1 more is Black Ice Gen Two Xtreme .

hehe biggrin.gif

oh btw, this radiator is not meant for silent operation .
but i can live with 40dBA .
the sound of gaming will kill the fan noise ^^,

If the radiator requires low cfm fans and you're giving it a high cfm fans, it doesn't do any harm but the disadvantage is you need to endure louder fan noise, that's about it smile.gif This is because having those extra cfm doesn't bring anymore substantial gain for the radiator's performance so that's why they are telling people a low cfm fan will do.

I would say this has something to do with marketing as well just like how they sell things like corrosion blocker, bacteria blocker, bla bla bla smile.gif

whatever it is, for me, as long as you're going for good static pressure fan and paired up with any of these rad should be good enough .
black ice gtx is only doing bad with low RPM fans .
with medium rated(+-2000) which i assume most ppl would use, the black ice gtx series already pawning some other rad as well

800W of heat dispersion for a 4x120 radiator alone? Sounds awesome drool.gif .

I heard bout static pressure being 1 of the criteria on heat exchange but appreciate if sum1 can tell me how does this static pressure work in helping heat exchange to achieve better efficiency?

My guess is high static pressure fan is required only on high f.p.i. radiators only or I was wrong?

hmm.gif Gentle Typhoon huh, I'm gonna go find out more.....

wanna ask something..have anyone of you tried to change the water coolant with the car water coolant.. hmm.gif ..

i think, the car coolant is much more cooler if compared to our coolant..or is the same.??.. hmm.gif ..as we know, engine car are hotter than than our cpu.. tongue.gif ..

someone, give a try la.. biggrin.gif
