Hey everyone, I was at Petron… Like the n00b that I was, right after I placed the nozzle back on the pump station and saw the amount I pumped, I forgot to get the receipt… can anyone else utilize the remainder of the RM200 that was charged on my CC? How would the bank know that I spent RM75 only on petrol?

the initial rm200 does not sit inside the kiosk la. there's nothing physical to be used by other ppl.

the initial rm200 is pre-authorization charge, to temporary block rm200 from your credit limit. no actual charge occur yet.

after pump and txn ended, the system will do an actual final charge of rm75 from the initial rm200 preauth (must be from same identical txn id). remaining 200-75=125 will be expired automatically at your bank side, and credit limit released.

Ahahah I see, I was thinking someone could pick up the nozzle and fill up since I didn't pick up the receipt, thinking the transaction was not finalized. But thanks for your explanation!

as long as nozzle is returned to the kiosk, it will terminate the pump process and send instruction to charge the actual pump amount.

however, for the past year, preauth release already mandated across all issues to be released immediately (or near immediate)
