It might be your installationis corrupted before finishing. try fresh reinstalling. I doubt it has anything to do with your HDD, as mine is also a SATA HDD and it works fine

Your specs are probably not good enough for Aero (due to your processor and graphic card) If you're to use Vista I'd suggest you to get a new rig altogether or just stick with WinXP

Ok.. i have some confusions and questions need to be answered before i proceed to install windows vista..
lets say i still want to maintain my xp and want to install vista on my another partition.. so i will have 2 windows... what about the software compatibility? If i have bitdefender in xp... and in vista is totally different right? I mean all those software in xp wont affect vista?? I'm worried abt this.. i'm afraid of software conflicts.. lol

Do you mean do all your software installed in your Windows XP partition will affect your operation in your Windows Vista partition? The answer is NO, they are working as two completely seprate entities. So you don't have to worry about conflict or all those things. 2. Do you mean whether the software used to work on your WinXP are compatible to WinVista as well? The answer is not necessary. They are some compatibility issues wherein some software can't work properly in WinVista. For RC1 compatibility list, please refer here http://www.iexbeta.com/wiki/index.php/Wind...patibility_ListHope it helps.

Probably u installed Vista on the Sata drive which basically shows as the 2nd harddisk in the Bios whereas the PATA drive serves as 1st drive. As such, even installed Vista on the sata drive, the Boot Manager was installed onto PATA drive. U could either installed Vista onto the PATA drive or...onto the SATA drive whilst disable the PATA drive during installation.

anything with atleast 512MB of ram 1.5GHZ of processor speed and 128MB atleast a ati 9500 series above or nvidia which can compare with the 9500 series GPU... sure can support vista..... ofcoz HDD would be 60 GB above....
tried on 64MB x700 acer laptop..... the windows aero work too....

Basically, th GPU si not that important. it's just ofr the Aero theme. Vista still can be used without it
